I’m not even talking about his “character” so I don’t know why you’re bringing that up.
Asmongold is popular, but the only reason why he’s wrangling in tens of thousands of viewers more than originally is because Classic is still the hot new thing. This literally happens with any new game: Game comes out, viewers for said game spike to the top 10 most watched. Classic’s hype will die and eventually so will Asmon’s viewer count. Similarly, Asmongold isn’t always going to stream Classic. Eventually, he WILL go back to retail because that’s where the hardcore endgame raid progression is at, and that’s what Asmongold is primarily focused on.
Classic’s hype isn’t going to last forever. It can’t. It’s feasibly impossible because, at some point, Classic’s updates are going to stop. The hype is already dying, as World of Warcraft is sitting at #5 instead of the #1 spot it’s maintained for two weeks. Asmon is already seeing a decline in viewers. Acting like he’s the most popular is pretty silly, honestly.
Shroud already said he’d go back to shooters. Don’t know why you’re bringing him up.
See my points above. Asmongold is already seeing a decline in viewership. He might level out a little higher than his average viewership pre-Classic, but he’s not the most popular.
Again: Someone having a lot of viewers because they’re streaming a new game doesn’t mean they’re the most popular. It just means people want to see Classic and, unless their favorite streamers are playing the game, the average person is most likely going to flock to the stream that sits at #1 for that game, which would be Asmongold.
