Didn’t watch any boss fights but he wasn’t tanking trash as far as I could tell. It was running all over the place.
He didn’t, Protadin handled what he/she could and the rest of the time they just kinda kited and suicided their way forward.
all of these topics always just immediately degenerate into the goof troop running in and declaring “but they’re HAVING FUN!!!1!!”
like, lol, how do you know those healers are having fun?
Because they are doing it? You guys act like this shaman held 9 other people hostage and forced them into the run
That’s pure semantics.
Your use of difficult implies that skill or coordination, against specific content, determines if the Shaman can be kept up….THAT’S WRONG!
At 15% crushing blows, with no chance of pushing any of that off the table, while facing a 14% parry rate, due to lack of expertise…a Shaman will face back to back crushing blows every 76 seconds on average.
That doesn’t include melee specials.
That doesn’t include magic source damage.
That means getting chunked for 16k/18k damage, in less than 2 seconds without Thunderclap.
Against hard hitters, ie Mag, Grul, and Prince…there is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent that from happening…NOTHING!
That’s not “difficult” or “not efficient” that is pure luck, and nothing more.
Shaman have 2 primary issues while tanking, EH and threat due to scaling and mana choices. Those problems don’t go away.
Fixing those requires a village and luck to make it work.
And lastly I think it’s great that they pulled it off. Hopefully they are elated by accomplishing this and had alot of fun We truly need more of this in a game ruled by the Meta.
However Blizzard could fix these issues to allow Shamans to tank Heroics and some raids without unbalancing PvE or PvP, with small changes…but they have chosen not to do so…hello Spirit Weapons threat drop.
That guy posts these things all the time, he’s a GM of one of these guilds, so essentially yeah he is forcing 9 people to carry him through Kara. I’ve done a lot of things I didn’t ‘have fun’ doing because either I had no other option to get my chance at gear for the week, or because I felt obligated to help friends. you have literally no idea what the dynamic of the group or the people involved is, so if your entire argument is ‘but it’s FUN!!’ it’s pretty flimsy and based on assumptions.
No one is forced to be in a guild, you guys are way too hyper serious about someone posting a random video
Not sure which part of this was ‘hyper-serious’, just pointing out the ‘but they’re having fun!!!’ excuse is silly because you’re assuming things about this group that conform to your preconceived beliefs about the situation. Anyone could easily do the same in the other direction and presume they feel grudgingly obligated because it’s their GM and he has a weird need to feel like a special shaman tank snowflake.
Ok, you’re super weird, I’m just gonna pop out of this thread
That’s so cool
Bingo.
Something like this can’t be accomplished alone.
It takes a lot of coordination, excellent aggressive healing, and some luck thrown into the mix.
It wasn’t just his achievement, it was the entire guilds accomplishment.
Healing had to be spot on.
DPS had to leash their threat.
Every conjunctive threat tool had to be utilized.
They pulled it off together.
They should all feel that accomplishment.
Who is saying that? If this is for for people, do it, but stop pretending this is anything other then getting hard carried.
Yeah, like using a ceramic coffee cup to hammer an iron nail into a wooden board.
And then demanding the cup be called a proper hammer…
Grats on the kill, nice job!
Someone call the MMO police, someone did something different rather than bow to the Meta Gods Minnie and Maxwell!!! This is a code red, I repeat a code red!!!
< grating alarm noises >
We need some desperate rationalizations asap!!!
As far as I can tell, nobody has “rationalized” anything insofar as anything that anyone does in a fantasy MMO can be “rationalized.”
Mostly, people are pointing out that while this was made possible, it is admittedly very inefficient and the game’s mechanics don’t not lend themselves well to this particular style of play.
Yes, it’s wonderful that Largid was able to exploit some of the unique avoidance techniques employed by Shamans in addition to gearing his Shaman in a grand effort to mitigate damage insofar as a Shaman is capable of doing that.
At the same time, there’s only so far that envelope can be pushed. Makes me wish the #SomeChanges mentality would pushed Blizzard to making TBC Classic but with higher innovative additions like a Taunt for Shaman in addition to talents that add more Defense and Stamina.
Wouldn’t just be relegated to Shamans. Imagine Melee Survival Hunters using Raptor Strike and Mongoose Bite as part of some regular rotation.
It’s great that we have TBC with all the old stuff. At the same time, it’d be fun to experiment with adding new stuff. Not Retail stuff, of course, but stuff that would see very TBC-like but would also be new.
Here’s all you need to know.
People can do whatever the hell they want with their free time in this game.
They can certainly try.
Although I doubt Shaman Tanks will be very effective and Phase 2 content, let alone Black Temple and Hyjal. But we’ll see.
It will largely come down to whether or not the gear lends itself to a greater degree of survivability. One good test would be to see if Shamans can tank Gruul or Mag.
I dont think the people using shaman tanks care that shaman tanking isnt as effective as other classes or just ineffective in general.
