Not really. I enjoyed Legion Enhancement far more.
And instead of boring passives with no visual input, they could have brought back the elemental spikes from Doomhammer and the flaming tornado vortex proc from lava lash in Legion.
BFA and SL are garbage expansions.
I mean, they literally brought back that trash covenant spell. Primordial Wave visually is NOT a shaman spell, and it is not remotely thematic to the class.
Shamans don’t fart out necrotic magic clouds at targets. Shadowlands with the exception of some DK covenant spells and maybe the Night Fae hunter/Druid NF spells should have stayed where it belonged, dead and buried.
Most covenant spells don’t fit visually or thematically with the classes at all.
Moreover, the enhancement tree is a pile of crap.
While elemental shamans get Gust of Wind, enhancement is made to sacrifice Spirit Walk for it. What the hell is this?
Astral Shift made a 2 min cd. No Shamanistic Rage back.
we are never going to agree on anything if you enjoyed that dumpster fire of class design more than what we have now, and you seem to only care about visuals and themes vs how something actually feels to play mechanically
i wholeheartedly disagree with such a sentiment
Yeah I don’t really disagree with that. I was more saying that if you’re in raid with a glut of shamans you can throw 1 in the melee group for Windfury, 1 in the healer group with mana spring, and 1 in the tank group with Stoneskin.
Stoneskin is 50% uptime baseline for 10% physical damage reduction. I agree that you wouldn’t need this for non-tank groups generally - but as a tank buff it’s pretty nuts.
Felt just fine to play to me, as opposed to waiting for autoattack procs making me even more reliant on uptime on a target that this current version does, and the MW iteration feeling awful to play without being loaded up on Haste from end patch gear.
You could have avoided the bratty retort and just avoided responding if a divergent opinion bothers you that badly.
Overcapping on resources while overcapping on procs now is not that much different. You’re eating up Stormstrike procs or overcapping empowered frost shocks now anyways.
Part of enhancement has always been avoiding on overcapping on either resources or procs as best as you can.
I overall like the trees a lot, but I do have slight concerns with enhance as a lot of the abilities are passive and seem like are stretched out. I wish we got a dedicated enhancement “spell” to spend instead of using lightning bolt, elemental blast, or now i guess lava burst. I Like the legos ,the return of doom winds ,having access to gust of wind and and bunch more defensive makes me very happy.
Just add some new stuff and throw all things associated with primordial wave into mount doom.
Correction - it’s on the node that’s Windspeakers Lava Resurgance and Elemental Blast.
Elemental Blast does replace Earth Shock as the primary single target malestorm spender. You run WLR over EB because it empowers Equilibrium and MotE more frequently for EQ power.
There is few things I noticed that might have been forgotten or something.
Totemic focus seem to forget Stonekin totem but for some reason work on the other Class tree totem (Mana, Healing, Poison, Wind Rush, Tremor) But stonekin seem forgotten.
Also I noticed Healing stream still have the deffinition of Rushing stream written but i haven’t see the talent anywhere. And personally I think if it was added to Living stream also it would compete well with cloudburst. Not sure Living stream alone is enough to be picked. Make it heal 2 target and incrase its healing each time and its will be really nice
It looks like Ele’s bars are going to look like a cockpit. We’ll have soo many spells to activate and weave. Honestly it looks like it could be an exhausting caster to play in DF. Turning us into a weaving and wacka-a-mole playstyle. I wish Blizz would cool their jets and augment more spells instead of adding more to the bar. At this rate we’ll be using 7+ spells for single target and 4+ talents for AOE…
I really like the Enhancement tree. Shaman overall have the best build so far of the classes that have been released, IMO (with the possible exception of Evoker – I just have no baseline to judge from).
It’s almost like there’s a nerf waiting in the wings somewhere.
Note, Blizz has said they’re loosening this for all classes, but 10.0 will only have rogue, mage and priest unrestricted at launch. We will probably get the rest eventually, but who knows when.
So I have a question, does the thunderstorm knock up is a thing Rn for Eles? And if it is, Does it works like Balance Druid Star Burst?
Because if we get something like that in a 25s cd, with 12s interrupt, sundering, purge, and grounding. Oh boy, we are gonna be casters worst nightmare.
In the general tree, the spirit walk/gust of wind talent is buried under 2 stacks of nature crit and 2 stacks of winds of al’akir. Feels bad to have something that feels so mandatory be buried under 4 points of what seem like very minor and optional talents. Really cuts down on optionality across the rest of the tree.
What if the spirit walk/gust node switched places with the thunderous paws/spirit wolf node? Or what if the spirit walk/gust nodes moved up and the nature crit and al’akir nodes moved down? That way someone that wants to focus on movement can go down the right side but everyone can get access to the almost mandatory spirit walk/gust node without having to go so far down the right side of the tree.
In the shaman tree, hot hand feels like it’s in an oddly mandatory spot that also conflicts with an ascendance build by competing for rotational space. And ascendance and primordial wave feel like they should swap positions to align with the rest of the tree.
Maybe swap acendance and primordial wave nodes and then put ele blast where hot hand is, hot hand where elemental weapons is, elemental weapons where fire nova/hail storm node is, fire hova/hailstorm where stormflury is and stormflury over on the left where ele blast is.
Overall trees look really great but the enhance tree could be ordered to align the stormstrike vs ele stuff more and the general tree would have greater optionality if spirit walk/gust was more accessible.
After sleeping on it I have to say whoever made the classwide shaman tree just “gets it.” Very few throughput talents, choices upon choices for defensives, sustain, mobility, CC, and group utility. Anything a shaman wishes they had in the past few expansions they can get from this tree.
