Shaman or Warrior?

I can’t decide between these two classes because I like them both equally. Which class do you prefer and why? Which one do you seem to have more fun with? Just looking for some opinions to help me make up my mind. I plan on doing just about everything: mythic+, raiding, PvP, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Just do a bit of both and choose a Paladin.

They both do good damage. I had fun lvling a shammy and warrior!
For PvP i like the Warrior. I just like having all the KBs. Ive only tried Elemental but it doesnt hit like a warrior can. In PvE Shammys are good. You get a brez and off heals.
In the end i pick the Warrior.

That’s like asking if you want to water someone’s garden for free or start lifting weights

You tell me :rofl::rofl:

Dalifacent gave you the right answer…

If you are going to main this toon then Shaman is a better time investment as a hybrid spec. Melee/Ranged/Heals is a good combo.

I personally enjoy warrior way more overall. The fury rotation is one of the more enjoyable in the game.

I can water your garden and then hit you with lightning when you step on the grass.

Shaman all the way for me. Best DPS caster spell animations, best melee DPS animations (sure, there’s weapon-swinging, but why settle for that when your weapons can also have lightning streaming from them?), my favorite healing spec… Enhancement’s actually my favorite melee DPS spec of all.

Warriors are fun, Fury is a wrecking ball of spinning weapons and I’ve always loved Prot for tanking, but neither of them have ever been able to compare to shaman specs. Plus, warriors are great at getting into trouble, but terrible at ever getting out of it unless the “trouble” dies. :stuck_out_tongue:

But I’d vote 100% shaman. Even Elemental, undertuned as it is, looks awesome and is a cool spec.

Sounds like you’re compensating for something.

lol. pretty much this.

Clearly you havent played elemental, I burst 40k single target upgrading a 9 yesterday.

Having leveled both, geared to ilv365-370, I would pick the warrior in a heartbeat. Out of 12 alts, my shammy is the only one that I feel is still weak, kills slowly, and is squishier. I have all armor classes - my spriest kills quicker and is tougher, same ilvl. Literally the only thing that I play that kills slower is warrior in prot spec. You cannot kill him, but dear god does it take forever.

I love the shaman, but I’m resto, so it’s a totally different class for me than it is for the DPS specs.

Warrior DPS is FUN!!! I love my goblin warrior.

If you want to play a melee dps character, choose the warrior. If elemental/casting shaman looks fun, do that. But if it’s melee you’re after (enhancement), go with the warrior.

I definitely prefer melee over ranged, so warrior is very appealing with two great melee DPS specs. I think shaman just interests me so much because the enhancement animations/abilities look amazing (along with the other specs), but I haven’t played with the rotations very much.

Well, I love being a shaman, and I love seeing other shamans in the world. So here’s the thing: you’re already at 112. Level him out to 120 and get him some free 340 gear out of warfronts. Do a few dungeons. See what you think. You’re already like right at home plate, so finish him out. You can always roll a warrior up later.

That’s kind of my dilemma. I boosted this shaman with my previously unused BfA boost since I already have a warrior that I levelled manually to 100 recently. I keep bouncing back and forth between them doing dungeons and such and I can’t decide 100%.

Shaman has a really bad reputation because of blizzard saying there would be bigger changes, then giving them relatively minor numbers tuning instead. They are pretty fun and have great animations though, but are pretty squishy.

Shamans can heal and do ranged and melee damage, and all three specs are pretty decent. Warrior has two great melee specs and a mediocre tank spec. I’d choose between whether you want to tank or heal/do ranged dps.

Overall I like the shaman better but I like magical classes more than pure melee classes.

I tried paladin until about level 30 or so but gave up on it because I can’t stand the look of a belf/tauren paladin. The paladin class fantasy fits a lot better with a dwarf or human in my opinion, but sadly all of my friends are on horde. No offense to anyone who likes belf/tauren paladins of course, everyone has their own tastes.

I’ll take this into consideration since they can perform all three roles and if I like the class enough then I guess I’ll be alliance.

Get some experience with the rotation first, that’s my advice. If you can’t stand playing a spec it won’t matter how cool it looks. I know the fuzzy ghost wolves are to die for but make sure you aren’t digging the grave for your own fun. You’re here to play a game, after all.

If you can make the class work than i would definitely recommend going shammy, but otherwise, warrior is a safer default should shammy fail you.

I do these solo in resto spec all the time. Earth elemental for the win. I really just don’t have this issue.

I can’t speak to the DPSing because I don’t ever do that. I don’t think I’ve ever switched over to another spec on Meriweather since level 10 when it let me go resto.

As to the healing, we have TONS more mobility than the priest class (my former main - both holy and disc). I run and jump while healing ALL the time. With Spiritwalker’s Grace/Graceful Spirit and Ghost Wolf and 2 charges of Tidal Wave, I can run all over creation while casting or throwing out totems and riptides.

Mobility while healing may not be able to compete with monks, but we’re not troubled for mobility whilst healing.

The rest…/agreed. Carry on.
