Shaman or warlock

So I am debating on going warlock or shaman. I know that warlock is going to be a lot better dps, but is elemental shaman going to be even worth it for PvE, even if I play it as an alt?

You’ll find a guild as elemental shaman, but you won’t top the damage meter. That being said, I’m rolling shaman as a main and warlock as an alt. But I’ll probably go resto

Thanks! I’ll probably roll Warlock to begin with so I can hoard Ele shaman loot in the beginning, so gearing up will be alittle easier.

Enhancement shaman can produce similar DPS to Warlock. Problem is getting a raid spot as an enhancement shaman. If you want to heal, go shaman, if you don’t, go Warlock. Elemental shaman is ok, but it’s even hard to get a raid spot than an enhancement shaman. Basically, if you have a group of warlocks and 1 elemental shaman using tranquil air totem, you can potentially allow the warlocks to produce ~20% more dps each without pulling threat. So an elemental shaman could potentially replace 1 warlock in a group to allow the other 4 warlocks to deal ~20% more damage without threat issues, as long as the Elemental shaman is producing greater than ~20% of the damage of the warlock they replaced.

I have analyzed your post and determined you have a 94% chance of being a dirty casual.

As such, Warlock is the class for you.

Warlock is easier to level which suits casual status. They are also easier to play and have a lower skill floor that someone with low to mid level IQ, that is common in casuals, can reach much easier.

Best of luck in your classic gaming!

I have analyzed your post and determined that you have a 96% chance of being wrong

um no. Shaman <> warlock dps.

Warlocks DPS starts off very weak. You will generally be the lowest DPS in every dungeon up until AQ levels of raiding, then Warlocks shine. On the other hand Shamans keep up with Rogues and Warriors in leveling Dungeons and even into MC as Enhance. Once Rogues and Warriors get geared in MC and BWL they overtake you pretty dramatically however, but, Enhance still has options as a Totem Twisting/Nightfall applying concept. Thats because you can actually make sense of 8 Shamans in a Raid with 1 per group and yet not want to gear up 8 of the exact same Healing Mail Class. You want diversity, not an all Shaman healing Raid.

Secondly, Elemental can actually keep up about 70-80% of Pure DPS and overtake Hunters from AQ onwards as they get sets and gear specifically meant for them. As another poster mentioned 1 Shaman can increase the damage potential of 4 Warlocks so if you are running a heavy Warlock guild with a ShadowPriest then Elemental can be viable and Elemental is not as bad as people claim. There are many, many ways to circumvent the mana issues. Its just difficult and many people dont find it worth it for the payoff, but don’t let that deter you. People will find use for other Specs of Shaman outside of Resto it will just be harder to find a Raid Guild for.
