Shaman midnight feedback

Real dude. It’s awful. It’s one button rotation for 15s lol

Only redeeming aspect of it is the range.

I have to say, I’m very perplexed by deeply rooted elements. And the fact it too replaces doomwinds. Given that taking ascendance replaces doomwinds itself but also gives you a chance for random procs of doomwinds. My immediate assumtion was that deeply rooted elements would leave you with doomwinds as a cooldown while providing random procs of ascendance. Giving you the choice of one of the abilities being an active and the other being a passive. But no, DRE is just random ascension procs and nothing else. I cannot possibly imagine why I would choose that.

DRE is something they should have pruned. No one likes it except Arc.

A lot of classes have multiple smaller goes on a shorter cd, and still have a big cd on a couple minute timer. Enhancement has doom winds, ascendance, Hero (PvP talent), and Prim wave.

Usually hero, doom winds, and ascendance are all combined for 1 go, none of them have real kill potential on their own. You get a small go with primwave if you time it right with tempest and get lucky with crits, but it’s not sustainable pressure, it’s a one and done sort of thing and it either works or it doesn’t.

We have very little sustained pressure, are incredibly susceptible to melee, and all these changes just crank our weaknesses up even more.

I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch, but these changes so far are not going to fix the issues enhancement has.

Was there anything else on the alpha you didn’t like when you were testing? What did you like? How’s the housing? The prey system?

Oooooo how good does Eversong really look now?

Put feedback in the alpha forum…

Yeah the stone bulwark already hurts. I hope they plan on massively buffing hybrid healing in return. I dont mind some pruning but they are going overboard on some of these.

They’re also making healing surge work like the crappy pvp talent with maelsrom.

Shaman are getting completely gutted. Half of my key binds will be gone.

It’s Alpha not retail live.

From a PvP perspective, if they take away lasso and Thunderstorm…

I don’t even… just, why? There’s already too much competition for PvP talents , making lasso one is lame af.

I was so happy when Enhance finally got these abilities, very thematic and fun to use, but now they are just taking them away?

Enhance already struggles to be competitive in PvP and this takes are away some of their much needed defense and utility.

Enhance shaman was almost perfect gameplay-wise this Xpac (tuning is another matter) but this is gonna kill it.

I think I just may have to reroll to sv hunter since they’re getting the option to dual wield in Midnight… but most importantly their defensives aren’t being destroyed.

Take a chopper to all its specs. They all have too much.

Let’s not forget what else Enhancement is currently being dealt —

We’re having basically all of our burst damage nerfed into the ground. We had one expansion of being solid performers and Blizzard is now (currently) gutting us.

We’re losing Feral Wolves as a on-demand cooldown. I know that Icyveins and everywhere liked to say “no don’t take Wolves, focus these instead” but I found that I was FAR more effective when I talented into having Feral Wolves and the passive that reduced its cooldown by 1 second everytime you gained a Maelstrom charge.

The Wolves were a solid 15% Physical damage buff (which buffed just about everything we use (bc it does -Strike damage) except Lava Lash); so 30% damage buff on a 2 minute cooldown that actively generated maelstrom charges while they were out; funneling it back into themselves with the passive. There were numerous times on tougher bosses that I could have overlapping wolves and have anywhere from 3-5 wolves out at a time buffing my damage.

Now, Blizz has said “no you’re too stupid to manage that many cooldowns” and “you have too much power for the previous expansion” and these changes:

  • Take the Maelstrom charge generation of these wolves and tie it into Doom Winds/Ascendance (God I am so sick of them shoving Doom Winds down our throats. I hate that talent - it’s so bland and has NO good/satisfying animation).
  • Remove our 15% Physical buffing wolves and force us into elementals – Nature tied to a 1 minute cooldown Doom Winds; Fire tied to 30 minute cooldown Sunderings. BUT gimp their benefits by making them only 5% damage buffs to their element and physical damage.
  • Let’s not forget they are shoving Sundering into our throats too (because the guide sites want us to take it all the time) and removing Primordial Wave and sticking its charge generation onto Sundering.
  • Removing Elemental Blast so we lose a % buff to our secondary stats that was reliably consistent and refresh-able.
  • Removing Ice Strike because god forbid we design Enhancement to use Fire, Frost, and Nature damage instead of just Fire and Nature, which also removes one of our optional picks for solid DPS chunk damage and charge generation (for former Frost Witch builds).

I get that this is currently Alpha – but Jeez did they butcher Enhancement.

This - this is a major one. Losing Bulwark while having such terrible self-sustain because it directly uses our Maelstrom charges and therefore gimps our DPS tremendously… we’re going to get obliterated on any moderately challenging content we try to tackle solo now. It’s ridiculous.

I happen to love DRE – I found that it was far more satisfying to NOT have to juggle Ascendance’s cooldown and to be able to trigger it repeatedly back to back with lucky procs. It has it downsides, yes, but I hate the “do this in this window” design of combat these days.

And they are correct.
Most of them are redundant and mandatory

No, if you choose Ascendance, it will replace Doom Winds, which will be baked into Ascendance when you press it. You will still only have one “Go” as op said. And while frost shock is in the tree still, it is listed as a removed ability as well as its modifiers that are still in the tree.

Yeah, I’m caught up now. At time of writing I had only seen wowhead’s mock up talent trees, and not blizzard’s actual post detailing the changes.

No, they changed it so your healing abilities do not consume maelstrom weapon stacks. They consume a separate buff you get from consuming MW, much like how hailstorm worked.
