We have completely garbage aoe compared to all other classes.
Yeah we can pull some descent 1-3 target or small packs. but we are severly AOE capp’d and when it comes to parses we will never be able to pull half the numbers other classes. like DK, Mage, Rogue etc can pull at their peak performance
When is the last time shadow priest even got significant changes?
Df?
yikes blizz
yeah, it seems as if the devs revamped shadow priest so much in Dragonflight, without much success, to the point that i’s been benched. I’m hoping that since they haven’t been part of much balance tuning, they have bigger plans yet again for it, but we shall see!
I’d also be optimistic if it wasn’t something that we’ve been telling to ourselves for multiple expansions at this point. I’m kinda running low on hopium nowadays.
There isn’t like a breaking point where they finally do something good for a troublesome spec?
Sucks so much. I really love Spriest’s spec fantasy, but playing in M+ feels really awful because AoE is what we do most when we’re there. I keep thinking if I should just endure and eventually it will make a big comeback in Midnight or something.
Same. Playing wow means playing my SP for me. I don’t enjoy any other class as much because I love shadow’s class fantasy, its spells and visuals (even if mostly outdated. I hate shadow crash though with a passion in all its aspects).
I would just be happy if Blizzard was more transparent about what they are planning for classes / specs. The radio silence can be interpreted in many ways - optimistic or pessimistic.
If they at least told us that they are not focusing on shadow for now because a rework is coming, we could decide for ourselves what else we want to do in the game. Or even to not play the game but they won’t risk losing players until next expansion so it’s better for the corporation greed to keep us in the shadows about their plans, I guess.
Revert the S2 aura nerf and restore psychic link to 35% are the easiest simple changes to fix shadow short term.
I wish they would stop panic tuning because Mythic raiders are stacking Spriest for a single fight. People didn’t even have tier yet and they cut us by 4%.
Shadow is going to be the lowest DPS for M+ come reset… even lower than Augvoker with none of the utility.
I played Shadow in one raid and that’s all it took for me to nope.jpg out of the spec. Number 1, Mastery is my lowest stat, I don’t stack it, I stack crit. So that already throws a wrench into Shadow. When I saw Mastery is its best stat, that was the nail in the coffin.
Number 2, I don’t do the whole “switch out 2 talent points in between trash and bosses to turn your AOE on”. I don’t do that, I refuse, that’s one of the reasons I abandoned my Assassination Rogue. (Btw, Sin does the exact same thing and Crimson Tempest is almost in the same spot in the tree as Shadow Crash, off to the far left by its self. Coincidence? I doubt it.)
I am not the best shadow priest, more on the mediocre side actually, but I have been playing it in raid this season. I don’t have any addons other than details and dbm so I am winging it with rotation as best as I can.
Sometimes I can shoot to the top of the meters and others I am middle/low of the pack. It doesn’t make any bit of sense to me. Either I am mistiming something on the lower ones or what but goodness that variance drives me a little batty. I feel like I play the same but the rng of my damage is whack.
Multiple sets of gear has been part of my priest journey for a loooong time. It isn’t terrible but it takes time. Right now I have 3 sets as I play every spec this season. Haste/mast for shadow, crit/mast for holy, and haste/vers for disc.
Could take a look if you don’t mind providing the character name.
Since the changes to make jewellery 70% of a players stat budget it’s not even multiple gear sets you need. It’s a ring and a neck, then the other is cyrce.
You are so kind to offer that! I am a lost cause though and often tell people I play too much like a butterfly with feeling, it would probably frustrate you to try and help me. I am same character name as this random toon, but from Bloodhoof.
Yea, I usually start with rings and neck, then back, etc.
If you do check out my character I am kind of fail and don’t think I have embellishments on my shadow set, I used them for disc keys. A lot of my logs I am using my healing crafted staff but I eventually traded out for heroic main hand/off hand, which busted my embellishment set. We just got aotc a few days ago and I almost made it to full clear as shadow but my guild needed an extra healer so I swapped to holy for last boss.
The goal is to kill the spec;
Legion turned the shadow priest into the void priest, but the Void is the enemy. Its an immersion and narrative killer to have one of your classes connected to the void and gaining all of its power from the thing that were all fighting against.
They wrote themselves into a corner and don’t have any out so the best option is to kill the spec that doesn’t align. If you reconsider all of Blizz decisions regarding the SP with consideration “blizz wants the class dead”, then everything makes complete sense.
From a business perspective you can just divert human bandwidth to anything but SP. Whatever talent/skill you bring to the team just never apply it to the SP and you can eliminate that fraction of workload entirely. (Its a small uplift but cutting 2% of all work is still dozens if not hundreds of hours of labor from end to end).
The only time Blizz even makes admissions to the Spriest existing is to make sure they are not visible in the meta. Mythic raids were stacking Disc priests for the final 2 bosses of LoUM raid, and when you didn’t need 6 healers you might as well have 2 of those disc priests go shadow. So Blizz sees Mythic raids Utilizing shadow priests and freaks the F*** out, Makes an insane decision to cut their damage immediately. No testing, no listening to complaints, no considerations for anything beyond “get those Shadow priests out of the meta”.
Anytime their narrative hinted at Alleria being “void touched” and that being a risk cause what if Xal or Dimensius can convert/control her? The player would always have that like, oh this isn’t a threat cause void priests, if we can play as the void what threat is there to Alleria?
They are killing it and it’s going to stay dead for awhile. I’d be very shocked to see the “big rework” lean into the void items and am betting on them even notating that when they do finally reveal the rework. It will basically be something like; “we really wanted to reconsider the entire design of this spec, it was leaning into the void but that seemed so odd when the entire story is about fighting the void. So we’ve decided to go back to the shadowy roots”
I’m thinking the new total overhaul for blizz’s leas favorite spec will be a mixture of the Venthyr, Troll Voodoo, and old Lich King type lore all woven together to make a dps class that harnesses the darker side of azeroth as its identity.
