3 of those points are basically the same. Less RNG. We’re left with class identity and no AP grind. Not really a lot of hooks for the new expac
Those improvements are FAR from subjective, and you know that
Your memories are constantly changing. In fact, almost no long-term memory you possess is a memory of an actual event that happened, although it may feel like it. They are almost invariably memories of the increasing fictional stories you tell yourself about the past.
I don’t say this as a particular slight to you, specifically. It is just generally how memory works for the overwhelming majority of people.
They didn’t. They really didn’t. Not in WoW, and not IRL either. People are significantly more tribalized now. And they’re much more inclined towards extreme views, rather than the middle ground. In fact, a lot of people now misperceive the middle ground as an extreme view. And people are just generally more argumentative and troll-ish, and much less likely to listen to other people and debate in good faith.
no pvp vendors on that list i see
I’m really interested in what that Tower is bringing. Transmogs?
It was definitely a different time. The forums hadn’t yet gotten upvotes and flagging worked differently too, which meant that more threads and posts managed to hang around for long periods even if they were nasty. You had to wait for the mods to make cleanup passes.
As for Ghostcrawler, I think he became a focal point because he was very vocal compared to the devs and even some of the CMs which made him a bit of a lightning rod for the masses.
The tournament dailies were…rough. They were rough lol.
shudder
AP grind was a thing in legion in BFA it was disaster.
really doubt m+ will be better than legion was.
about RNG I’m gonna have to see it myself if I buy the expansion or not.
classes? again, I heard this tale before but couple of generic buttons wont make for what players have been asking for years to comeback.
alts? again I will see this myself or by someone elses video
right now there’s little I know as usual to judge and overhype myself I want to avoid another BFA disaster for me and my wallet… giving money for a game that I might not be playing.
I was there too…and yes that did happen with LFG, and esp ToC…I think the audience was also a lot younger back then than it is today. 12ish years ago a 30-40 year old gamer wasn’t the norm. Now with a lot of us growing up with video games now that age bracket has shifted. I would also like to think that in general age has matured us a little.
Could be an interesting expansion. However, I am not naive enough to think that something can’t go wrong. They have a lot of work on leveling to make it a good experience again. They have a lot of work on classes to make them a meaningful choice again. Can they do it? We’ll have to wait and see. Judgement is still out.
I started in Wrath specifically because of how much people were ranting and raving about it. WoW was a gaming phenomenon during Wrath to a degree we haven’t really seen before or since. To say it was unpopular at the time is moronic.
It was BY FAR the most popular video game in the western world at the time.
True, plus to be fair “casual” playing back then was trucking 4-6 hours a DAY. Raiding minimum 4 days a week was totally normal in many peoples eyes.
did I mention the part where tier sets wont be returning still?
People said that about WoD in comparison to pandaland and Cata.
it looks like a copy/paste of diablo 3 (and now 4) and the art style looks generic and terrible.
people are sick of everything in this game just being a carbon copy of d3, a game people never liked in the first place
Yup Naxx was a pugable joke and during Ulduar if you weren’t doing HM you were a casual scrub. I would never want to go back to raiding 15-20 hours a week. Don’t have the time lol. I raid 6 hours a week and that’s fine with me.
I still have PTSD from my over 1K wipes on LK-25H.
I still consider that fight to be the most difficult encounter this game has had to date. Not counting mathematical errors, maaaybe G’huun Mythic. But putting everything in perspective and the abilities available and all that? Yeah, LK-25H was horrific.
I hope so. I rolled alts for the sake of rolling alts this expansion. With the convenant system playing an alt will be a better experience, I hope.
ya lets point to numbers and thats how it was viewed…
eye roll
people threw tantrums over wrath like they do now
people claimed it was the end of wow
massive forum backlash, i quit videos, etc etc
you can look it up yourself its not that hard
you either A) werent listening to what people were saying about the game
or b) you remember the outrage but because you like it therefore you are bias
idk which
He doesn’t even have a point with Pandaria.
Beyond the handful of “LOLOLOL KUNG FU PANDA” idiots, and the somewhat more justified irritation at end-game grinds locked behind other grinds, MoP has always been one of the more praised expansions, both when it was current, and in hindsight.
