Would be so tragic…
Neither of these things are true. You quoted two sentences the OP has written that in no way invalidates what I wrote.
Ardenwald is unnecessary for teaching Druids to take the shape of Worgen, they can already do it. It was banned by the Cenarion Circle for good reason due to the fact that every Druid which shifts into their form loses their mind to feral instinct. How does OP’s post address that in any way when it’s not even accurate?
And again, there are 2 San’layn left and we’re lacking a Lich King to create them. The lore would need to be stretched further than the Mariana Trench is deep to justify Kael’thas being raised as a San’layn.
I hope they use models we already have, don’t get me wrong I love the Night Fae would love them playable…
But in all Honesty Tuskarr and Sethrak, Ogres and I know High Elves (I’m an old RTS Warcraft player)
Tuskarr - could get updated use the same rig as Pandarens, they have similar bodies and Alliance desperately need Shamans…
Sethrak - I think would be a waste of such an awesome model to not use…(plus didn’t they datamine the Heart of Azeroth, and Capes, same with the Vulpera?)
I Say Ogres for Horde and High Elves for Alliance to complete the old school original factions… both requested deeply.
Tuskarr though is a crime not to have especially since we going to Northrend again for Shadowlands!. With all this new commotion happening I really doubt they will stand idle while fabric of space and time is shattered right near them.
With the new starting zone 1-10 it’s a perfect opportunity, a missed opportunity for these races and easy to implement.
I was shocked the Battle for Azeroth didn’t have older races join in, Iconic Races.
Edit: TLDR - Tuskarr, Sethrak, Ogres, High Elves. Covenant - Night Fae seem good for a Shaman/Druid class.
Covenant be hard to join a side as they seem neutral helping both sides… so unless they give more neutral races I doubt they will pick a side, but all covenants look so good and unique.
Bear in mind that the Developers will listen to feedback if enough people give it. But only if people continue to hammer on it day and night and don’t let it go. I’ll be honest, I share your feeling on this as well too. It basically craps not only on Night Elves, but Orcs, Dwarves, Gnomes, Tauren, Blood Elves, Trolls; and every other race’s existence aside from humans.
Imagine telling an Orc. “Hey! You served your people dutifully and faithfully. Now your going to turn into a Human for the rest of your existence in this after-life!” My Orc would probably look at my Troll and say “So uhh… Got any room on the Other Side…?”
My Troll would draw his sword and be like: “Mebbe? I Mam’toth Alt+F4in outta dis stupid mon!” and cut his own throat just to kill his anima before it ever reconstituted as a “Human”. My Orc would then do the same. So too would probably every other Horde character I play. The idea of any of them turning into Human Ascendants, Vampires, or Liches is not a good one.
IMHO, a much better way Blizzard could fence it (which like Taelan Fordring as a Horseman, Nazjatar under water, and so on; will likely be ignored) would be for each race to see the Kyrians, Night Fae, Venthyr, and Necrolords as ascended versions of their own races for the most part, but recognize people they knew in life by their original shapes as that is how we would ‘recognize them’.
This means Trolls would see Troll Liches in Necrolord lands, Ancient Kings like Dazar in Bastion, Vampiric Shubs and Zuuls in Revendreth. Orcs could see their ancestors and the Necrolords might appear as grim-honored dead, and so on up the line.
Seeing Draka riding a spirit wolf and killing enemies in the afterlife? Cool!
Seeing Draka twiddle her thumbs as she waits to slowly turn into Skeletor? Not so much.
I’d even suggest that this wonky ‘state’ of the afterlife be the direct result of the balance being out of whack, because right now it’s blowing a major hole in the Blizzard Universe by trying to explain satisfactorily something that is never going to be.
I expect that any Troll, Orc, or so on that encountered a majestic humanistic city populated by humans with wings as their afterlife, would probably walk up to the Arbiter and be like “Just. WHY? What the hell woman? Are you Dumas? Send me to the Maw now! -Horde character starts breaking things in Oribos like Piccolo in DBZ-”
…Wait. Is that why it’s growing!?!
Another much easier alternative that would make a hell of a lot more sense and salvage the above issue is this. Blizzard should just flat out say that the soul has a choice when they ascend, and what the individual sees in the Shadowlands normally is colored by what they imagine or want to see (So for a Troll, you’d see this amazing Troll Empire in Bastion with Dazar. Meanwhile as an Elf you’d see Quel’thalas on steroids with Anasterian etc.)
I think it’d be smart to spin the story in such a way that a soul can retain their individuality and original mortal shape as a spirit or ascendant; or they can release their anima completely at which point it coalesces into a new entity in the Shadowlands, while the individual that the mortal was ceases to be, because it became one with the Force.
That in turn could play well with the origins of the Loa perhaps? They would be Trolls who had basically found a way to retain their individuality post death, and sometimes took animal forms since their people revere Dinosaurs etc.
The story could also be spun that due to Sylvanas breaking the Internet, we only have at this point very generic motifs that help our limited brains comprehend, and these four groups are the only groups that have thus far managed to resist the Maw.
In either case, Blizzard will have one chance to get this right and if they get it wrong… it’s going to make the rejections of WoD and BFA look like a day at the beach, because people will be downright pissed off. The Afterlife is a ‘very’ very touchy subject, both in the real world and in game worlds; which is why it’s usually left nebulous.
There are many different realms in the shadowlands. We are just shown 6 of them. The ones struggling with Anima imbalance.
If that is in fact the case, I think that a quest or two needs to touch on why players cannot see these particular realms or go to them. A simple case of They were already hit when the Maw started to consume all the anima. But if you destroy the Jailer they will be saved. (But remain off-screen for design budget reasons).
I’m just saying, that if these six realms ‘were it’ that really messes the game up, and in a bad way.
You are sent in order to realms that need help. From the arbiter. There is a linear story experience. That is to say there is room for realms that are okay and not effected. Like how the zandalari did not really care about Nefarion/deathwing/the lich king. You can’t really speculate much until alpha/ beta is live.
Blizzard said that the shadowlands are infinite, with infinite different realms. Just not all as big or important as others. We will visit some of the most important ones.
Bastion which creates Kyrians which are guides for souls.
Revendreth which punish souls so they can repent and then go on in the shadowlands.
Maldraxxus which is the very source of all necromancy in the universe.
And of course Ardenweald which is just where nature creatures go to start their rebirth.
This is good then, and it seems my understanding of it was mistaken. I was under the impression that these were the primary realms and final resting places. If this is not the case, then a large part of my concern is resolved. I just hope they restate that fact in the quest texts.
Infinite realms sort of covers them. We have a multi verse of wow characters. If the shadowlands predates the titans. I am interested to see how the multiverse plays into the soul dilemna. The horde and alliance both have interdimensional races. The dranei and orcs. We saw Velen die. His alternate universe self. We saw alternate orcs die too. And the maghar are from a new reality. Like which Draka is in Maxxanar? Is it the alternate universe draka we are familoar with? Is she from our universe at all? Can we see the same character in different realms but differe t universes?
It will be interesting to see if that’s addressed. Or if shadowlands is outside that multiverse or part of it (limited to one of each soul… But the maghar are going in so…)
I find it better to not worry too much and juat enjoy the ride.
Well these realms we will visit are instrumental in how the shadowlands function so they’re very important, and in the case, for some people, these realms will be their final “resting place”. Like a soul sent to Bastion by the Arbiter have been judged to make a good fit there, and it seems like most that are actually sent there find the cause of the kyrians noble and do it all willingly.
I never said night fae will be allied race, feel like yall are just not reading and then posting replies.
I’m giving my opinion lol, I said “I” as in me…
You did ask for people’s opinions haha
Feel like you need to understand people’s opinions vary from what you want, I think Night Fae would be awesome, “I” as in my opinion.
Kael’thas can’t come back. His body was destroyed. Without a living vessel, he’ll become a ghost like you see around Karazhan.
If you read my post, I never said night fae. Like IDK who is talking about adding Nightfae and Venthyr as allied races lol.
This. People are making up rules based on patterns that don’t exist.
I don’t think that is the case with all four conenants. A soul can rise in the ranks of a covenant, but they have other options such as reincarnation, moving on to other zones, becoming spirit healers, and so on.
Why people doesn’t understand that allied races a related to a specific playable race!?
That mean no shadowlands creatures, no mogus, Sethrak or what ever your fantasy.
So… The San’Layn/NE worgens combinaison are pretty logical and lore wise.
