bad writing, Bolvar is probably weaker than Arthas, no more frostmourne, a combination of other problems
this became apparent in bfa’s prepatch. for the entire time bfa was live, every time i logged on Horde i felt like I’m not a good person.
The game should make me feel good about crushing the filthy alliance. instead it did the exact opposite. now the alliance wins because they have friendship on their side >.>
Super-mecha-Arthas-prime is empowering Sylvanas with plot powers so she can pull her mary-sue feats off.
Because she’s a Strong Female Character™.
Repairing it will probably be a big part of the expansion plot, either that, or we actually beat the unleashed Scourge, which would be incredibly stupid.
It’s been mediocre and got slightly better around the time MoP came out, once Metzen left it went from mediocre to actual garbage.
The prototypical Mary Sue is an original female character in a [fanfic] who obviously serves as an idealized [version of the author]mainly for the purpose of [Wish Fulfillment] She’s exotically beautiful, often having an unusual hair or eye color, and has a [similarly cool and exotic name] She’s exceptionally talented in an implausibly wide variety of areas, and may possess skills that are rare or nonexistent in the canon setting. She also lacks any realistic, or at least story-relevant, character flaws — either that or her “flaws” are obviously meant to be endearing.
She has an unusual and dramatic [Back Story]. The canon protagonists are all overwhelmed with admiration for her beauty, wit, courage and other virtues, and are quick to adopt her as one of their [True Companions], even characters who are usually antisocial and untrusting; if any character doesn’t love her, that character gets an extremely unsympathetic portrayal. She has some sort of especially close relationship to the author’s favorite canon character — their love interest, illegitimate child, never-before-mentioned sister, etc. Other than that, the canon characters are quickly reduced to awestruck cheerleaders, watching from the sidelines as Mary Sue outstrips them in their areas of expertise and solves problems that have stymied them for the entire series.
From that article btw.
It actually covers all 5 of what I listed above lol
If you can’t define something off the top of your head, you don’t know what it means.
I’d use urbandictionary, regardless, because it has a wide variety of sources and you can aggregate a median from it.
Thrall may have been a mary sue in the purest sense but, the character is hardly what most people call a mary sue these days. He has flaws that has had very catastrophic consequences on the story such as naming Garrosh his successor despite even Garrosh himself saying it was an awful idea and we all know how that turned out. His nature as a more caring, peaceful individual has in a bitter twist of fate, led to atrocities he could have prevented such as Theramore, all of Pandaria, and the death of his childhood friend. Even the fourth war is partially on his shoulders, as instead of going to lead the Horde once again or even just guide it, he hid in Nagrand to contemplate where he went wrong in life.
There’s a difference between knowing what’s something and explaining something to someone. And you are saying that a place where people add random stuff for fun is your height of sourcing uh?
Yes, that’s why I said he left the role long ago.
They tried that every expac.
Chen for MoP.
Hellscream for WoD.
Sylvanas for BFA and Shadow.
They are just riding on WCIII success to this day. Which is why the whole reforged debacle is more baffling.
