But then they came out and said that the Chronicles are the POV of the Titans so it’s biased in its telling. So this is also odd.
I am not surprised by any retons at this point. Blizz is free to change the story however they wish, and they assuredly do to whatever narrative they desire.
Which is what I mentioned in one of my posts. Chronicles is written from the perspective of the “victors” of the WoW universe. Along with information compartmentalization.

And there’ll be retcon as usual. It’s just a matter of waiting and pointing it out when shadowlands is on ptr.
The use of the nether is sort of the azeroth way to reference the darkness when you die.

Before 2019, back in the days, npc’s didn’t understand much, they used the word nether.

Since March 1st, Blizzard have hired a real human actor for each NPC in the game. Now, they are only talking about syndicate : they don’t enjoy working 24/7, they say they have live outside the office… blah blah blah.

They’re going to retcon the heck out of what’s left of old content anyway.
Pretty sure everyone here know about that image already. And the picture exist when they made the chronicle and made canon in 2016 when it was out. And according to the more recent stuff. That was written from the pantheon view and the recent event hint at the pantheon were a bunch of dummies.
Also, the more recent stuff also hint that shadowlands is not small. It’s massive. Possibly larger than physical universe.

Because the pantheon are dummies. And shadowlands pop up over the years, yes. But it was definitely change by blizz. The existence of it was, I believe, never in question in this thread.
Reread what you posted. It says he’s dead on the battlefield but makes no comment on how he died. WIth that I say this is not a retcon.
Hey buddy. I can tell you’re new but… the Shadowlands have existed since Classic. You know when you die right? It’s literally the outskirts of the Shadowlands.
When you heard people say twisting nether back in Legion, that’s because they were demons. Demons go to the Twisting Nether when they die.

However in the Ultimate Visual Guide it is stated that, in fact, Bolvar was “kept at the edge of life”, meaning he did not die. This is supported by another sentence a bit further: “Thought to have been killed by the plague at the battle of the Wrathgate, Bolvar was saved but charred beyond recognition.”
Good catch, I was wondering if somebody was going to catch that. However, according to Salana… “Yes because that is what Chronicles is supposed to do. Create the canon.”
shrugs So if Chronicles “creates the canon”, then the visual guide is wrong. As for myself? Well, this is what happens when you start retconning stuff. Blizz can’t even keep their own story straight anymore. A sad state of affairs really. Maybe the best solution is to use the most recent copyright date, and whatever is most recent, consider that the canon.
Well that’s the thing, Bolvar was also confirmed to have never died back at BlizzCon. So what I assume happened in Chronicle is that Bolvar was just thrown in with the “almost 5000 soldiers” meaning he lived but was almost dead.

I suppose my point is pretty much made now.
Where the hell did you get the idea that the Shadowlands haven’t been in the game until WoD? The DK starting zone literally sends the player to a portion of the Shadowlands to slay a darkrider and obtain a death charger. The quest and its original text is still in the game for the original DK races (as well as worgen and goblin). Please check your facts before saying someone else is wrong or changing the story.
