If I couldn’t pick my own, I wouldn’t want it at all.
People on RP servers are already using surnames and it’d suck to have those choices claimed.

The option of adding one apostrophe and a second name would be so refreshing to the character creation.
It’s so hard to find a name that you like nowadays.

(Statement): Unit Exacitor supports the inclusion of apostrophes and a second name (surname) to character creation. World of Warcraft is an old game, it’s naming restrictions are so archaic that even the Dinosaurs were able to roll characters with two names on their video games.

Dear Blizzard
If you choose to allow punctuation, please apply the only-one-first-name-per-realm rule to the part of the name before the punctuation to order to prevent people from using this as a workaround to poach other players names.
If you choose to allow last names for characters, please still maintain the only-one-first-name-per-realm rule for the first name and make the last name merely a vanity thing as many players only want this in order to poach other players names.

Yea I played it back during the Cata expansion. Was alot of fun till end game then was just meh. Really a shame you could tell they put a lot of time and money into the story, voice acting, etc.
It does, but in a more general sense having surnames server side would allow for multiple people with the same first name. As mentioned after fifteen years names are getting a bit hard to come by.
They can also just do a last name for our characters. I’m not a fan of account last names unless its a game like Tabula Rasa were all your alts were clones of you.

They’d get a lot of money from me in name changes… (assuming they don’t give the first one per character free) I have last names for all my toons and their first names would often need to be changed to the correct ones.
This toon would be Fenn Softpaw for instance.
