Only the main storyline is on rails, after you complete that, you can play end game how you like, and alts can skip the story entirely and go straight to adventure mode.
Not that I dispute this because I haven’t played yet, but why NOT A SINGLE SOUL said anything in the beta about the “boringness” of starting zones? All the feedback was counduits, covenants, min/maxing, etc…and now, suddenly this is the main complain. A bit late uh?
Good for you. Hopefully you don’t come back since it seems like RPGs aren’t your thing! Godspeed!
Not everyone will do the WQ and rep spam, some people just play through for the story and the sights and sounds. Hard to believe, I know.
This is an MMORPG. Story and story-based content integral to the game. Maybe Fortnite more your scene?
I’ve enjoyed it so far. I really liked the Maw intro and found that exciting.
Honestly to me it’s just the beginning of a multi year adventure so I’m pumped up for that. I know questing and story can be boring to a lot of people who are used to racing to max level and such - but for me its spot on with what I expect out of wow. I enjoy the lore and wonder of going to new places.
So far so good imho.
Yo like for real where do these people come from?
Can I have your stuff?
I have really loved the Quests I am still in Bastion doing those and I did the gift quest which at the end you find is a marriage proposal also doing the hunter quest was great. I also got the golden feathermane battle pet!
I’ve now made it to Maldraxxus and I am just loving Shadowlands more and more as I go. They really made this expansion something special. I’m really looking forward to the rest of it!
For me, this expansion feels like MoP syndrone where it doesn’t feel very Warcraft. I"m only level 55 and already I miss Azeroth. The thought of two years of expansion time in lala-land is saddening.
Me playing the opening instance: OMG this is going to be awesome.
Me after about an hour in Bastion: OMG this is stupid I’m going to go to bed.
I kind of agree. The story could be interesting, but the pacing of the zones is pretty off to me. It seems like every zone just goes on and on and I’ve only done Bastion and Maldraxxus so far, just starting Ardenweald. I did like the intro sequence, but it was also too drawn out.
Leaving Azeroth for long periods of time in new expansions is a reoccurring theme for WoW since BC. Are you a newer player that hasn’t experienced this much yet? Even in Legion we went to Argus for awhile. Shadowlands is very WoW.
But that’s the thing, despite leaving Azeroth BC felt EXTREMELLY Warcraft. Draenor is a gigantic part of the lore, Outland was a key element in WC3, Illidan, the remnant Dark Horde Orc Clans, Kaelthas and the Blood Elves, all of those things made it great. Shadowlands feels too foreign a concept to choose for a WoW expansion for my tastes, much like Pandaria. Some people may like this, but for me and others not so much.
Maybe with time it will get better after the dry leveling quest phase.
Gotta say I’m loving it too!!
Can’t wait to go back on alts once im finished.
This is the most excited I’ve been about wow in a long time.
The devs deserve a raise for this!
The expansion has only been out for 1 day and tier sets are coming later in the expansion.
Because honestly most people don’t care that much … WoW is about the endgame. So the testers are focused on evaluating endgame systems and mechanics, not whether leveling is boring.
I totally get wanting a more open and exploration-based questing experience like it was from Classic to Wrath, since that’s how the game used to be. But I don’t think what Blizzard did for Shadowlands is bad at all. I’m enjoying it personally.
And if you don’t like it, at least you only have to grind through it once.
I can understand this view, but Blizzard can only keep borrowing from the old lore and zones for so long. They have to add new story and places, otherwise the game goes stale.
