No. There was no entitlement in the beta forums. It was the most constructive I have ever seen the forums. The testers were being honest. I guess entitlement is now when you tell the developers their ideas are not going to work and then…“pikachu shock face”, the testers were right?
Covid did not cause shadowlands to launch in this state. Shadowlands did not get these non sense systems because of covid.
Covid is the scapegoat for bad design now that players are revolting.
The thing is the community voiced their objections politely through the proper channels during beta and these things were ignored. Players didn’t like being locked in to covenants before Shadowlands even dropped. The “pull the rip cord” movement was around since Shadowlands beta and the wow devs ignored the players. They said “Oh just play with it. You’ll see it. It will all work out.” and then things worked out exactly like players predicted. Things like Conduit energy and covenant choices both just punish players for wanting to do multiple forms of content. I know people who say they can’t do keys until after a certain day in the week when they are done raiding because they can’t afford to change their conduits back and forth during the week. What is the point of that design choice? Blizzard is just saying “Hey do this content sub-optimally or don’t do it.” These are concerns that were voiced before the xpac was even out and have been continuously voiced since then. If it sounds like I’m ranting it’s because I’ve said this a hundred times already.
What are some other features of Shadowlands that suck you might ask.
The Maw is the worst zone ever created and it’s not even close. Sockets and Conduits were both tied to the Maw so your options were “Do this content” or “be sub optimal”. In 9.0 you couldn’t mount until you got a special maw mount, the zone was incredibly hostile, densely packed and full of elites, it was a huge hassle to navigate, dying could permanently cost you valuable resources, and it was heavily time-gated by the eye of the jailer so you couldn’t even get it out of the way and be done with it quickly. Now some of these issues have been addressed but others have been made worse with the new wing of the zone, the Desmotaeron. No convenient way to get there, absolutely packed to the teeth with strong mobs, and you have to trek through to get to the raid every week, which also results in a ton of lag btw. Like who thought this was a good idea? Can’t even put a flight path from Venari to the raid in there Blizz? No. Everything about the Maw is clearly, intentionally meant to be inconvenient and hostile towards players.
Torghast is a joke. It’s nothing more than a chore. It was pitched to us as this rogue like wow experience, which would have been great. Instead we just got a remix of horrific visions. It’s fun once or twice to do big numbers on trash and if I only had to do it once or twice I wouldn’t have minded but the issue is it’s the largest source of materials needed for crafting and upgrading legendaries so you have to keep coming back and doing it over and over again.
If I could say all this to the developers faces I would. I would ask them why they did this, why they thought people would enjoy this, and frankly that’s why I’m posting this all here. In the off chance that the devs will see it or at least so the people can see it and maybe one of them can explain it to me.
And they still didn’t do anything about conduit energy in 9.1 despite the game being live and getting negative feedback about it 7+ months.
Not only did they double down on conduit energy and conduits, and covenants, but they changed everything up enough so that players actually had to change covenants and do it all over again to feel optimal.
It’s kinda comical actually. It’s incredibly hard to understand where their minds are when making these kinds of decisions.

Cut the sarcasm, Argorwal. You’re better than that. I wasn’t talking about WoD’s world content. The “et cetera” mentioned there was stated primarily with the dungeons and PvP in mind.
Nah, they need to go back to the world content from Wotlk → MoP. That was good.
I just got this today, so I apologize for being late. Now I think Blizzard has a legitimate excuse because any Blizz employee who is vaccinated is now a super-spreader and will probably have to be quarantined, to protect the unvaccinated.
h ttps://www.naturalnews.com/2021-07-29-cdc-confesses-vaccines-are-failing-the-vaxxed-can-be-super-spreaders.html
I have been playing WoW for over 14 years now, and the Shadowlands is not why I keep paying Blizzard every 6 months. I like now to play Cataclysm over and over still. I also like WoD and Wrath. Personally, Shadowlands seems like a different game. I will read what Blizzard will create for the next expansion if one will be made, but paying $39.99 again for a Shadowlands-like one will be worth around like $1 or $2 again for me. So Blizzard will need to do more than a new boring, pointless expansion like Shadowlands if they want more of my $$$.
Ahahahaha, “naturalnews”, ahahahahahahaha!
Oh man, you conspiracy nuts make me laugh. I mean, you’re crazy stupid, but you make me laugh.
Vaccinated persons are actually less likely to be carriers for the virus than unvaccinated. While it is still possible the largest threat to the unvaccinated remains other unvaccinated.
Even if the vaccinated were becoming super carriers at an alarming rate, they’re not but let’s pretend they are for a second, there would be a simple solution for any unvaccinated person afraid of getting covid; just get the vaccine.
Personally i did not think it was going to, but simply due to this law suit being tied to the already struggling issues of SL, yeah, its gonna go down as being remembered as the worst.
HOWEVER, for those that were around, and remember it, WoD still truly takes that trophy home, because there was literally nothing to do in wod except raid log and pvp.
It’s pretty good. The drought was rough because of people going to do other things, but the game as a whole has been enjoyable. Not without some gripes but wod and bfa were both an unplayable mess. This version of the game is easy to maintain and has fun content to do.
I played through most of Wod, took a little break in between, and I don’t remember it being that bad. Then again the fact that I was able to take like a 6 month break in the middle of the xpac and missed nearly nothing probably just proves your point. Personally I spent a lot of WoD leveling alts and grinding old achievements. Class design was good and without having the ton of “treadmill” systems we have today you were free to do whatever you wanted with your time, there were basically no “chores”. Legion, BFA, and Shadowlands have all had bad droughts in content as well but those xpac just incentivize you to do chores for ever to make you feel like you have something to do. I am tired of the never ending chores personally. Tired of things like horrific visions, and island expeditions, and torghast.
With them already being behind plus the lawsuit/scandal, something tells me the 9.1 —> 9.2 content drought will feel much worse than the 9.0 —> 9.1 drought… just a hunch I’m getting
Did you notice the source? I’m not saying the CDC is right either. They’re just having a fun time.
@Pocchama Your position seems to be in disagreement with the CDC. Governments make whatever call they want, but I thought we’re supposed to trust these experts.
Even the link you posted says at the bottom that the cdc claims 97% of transmissions are between the unvaccinated. The site then claims that this number is a lie, but offers no rebuttal or evidence to back that up. Just says, the cdc is lying and that’s it.
I hope you don’t actually trust that site btw. It’s so obviously propaganda it’s not even funny. Just look at the hashtags on the article for crying out loud. To say that this is biased, out of context reporting is the understatement of the millenium.
It’s actually been one of the best expansions so far, just sucks the company had to go and ruin it with their out-of-game actions.
