Shadowlands: Holy Paladin

Well it’s a consistency thing, having a constant 3% DR for the 2:52 is a sacrifice I’d make to lessen the effect of Aura Mastery Devotion Aura by 5% for the 8 seconds of it’s duration. Considering your hitting 20ish targets in raid rather than 4ish at 1%. It’ll work out, I guarantee.

As for gimped AoE healing, Blizzard still sees us as the go-to single target healer, which is fine, I’d like to at least see maybe a return to Illuminated Healing to compensate a bit.

We’re not even structured as the go-to single target healer right now even because they nerfed spells. Holy shock went from 150% spell power to 100%. Flash of light also nerfed, I think holy light went from 150->160% but surely they don’t want paladins to go back to spamming holy light at 2.5 second cast time. Even that isn’t going to make them goto because in 2 seconds soothing mist will do 100% spellpower at the low low cost of 0.8% mana and that’s assuming they don’t use statue and don’t cast anything else into the target. Mistweavers took over the single target healer role pretty strongly (but with the ability to talent/build for aoe instead). Yes, I know there’s been no ‘tuning’ pass, but …they’re the ones that already made changes that did nothing but ‘tune’ holy shock healing down etc so if they’re not already tuning why make those kinds of changes?

Well let’s hope it’s just a case of early number crunching due to the scaling.

I think I understand the idea behind changing infusion because before it pushed both spells towards the same goal. The faster one became stronger and the stronger one became faster. However, I think a better change would be have it buff your next holy light or flash of light to be X% faster AND X% stronger. So that whichever you cast is both faster and stronger giving you the choice of which spell is appropriate. The other way always leads to one or the other always being the right choice.

I’d like the option for Eternal Flame back, and holy radiance back baseline.

Not a bad idea, but I like the idea of a really fast Flash of Light and a heavy Holy Light.

Only issue I have with Eternal Flame is the playstyle that we got stuck with was just blanketing the raid in a HoT, which is why Blizzard removed it, kinda what Druids do.

Except it you don’t get much return on the speed increase for Flash of Light and if you’re in that dire of a hurry to heal the target use Light of the Martyr, it’s spammable, instant, and heals that target for more than flash of light does. A heavy holy light is fine, but you’ll probably get sniped in raids before you make good use of most of that healing.

Isn’t Light of the Martyr gone?

I don’t see getting sniped being a problem in raids, unless you’re playing with people who either like to snipe heals, or people who for whatever reason just don’t get how predictive healing works.

What I would really like to see for holy paladin is a permanent avenging crusader build…to just dps as hard as you can to heal a whole raid. And replace crusader shield with divine storm as a class wide ability that heals everyone around you as it damages. It would be a very different kind of healer but incredibly fun none the less.

It also doesnt lock you into a sword and board style

i hope you’re mistaken… or… i’m f—

Unfortunately he’s pretty correct.

We don’t have reliable holy power builders. Holy Shock and Crusader Strike. However we can’t always be in melee so we lose up time on CS.

The change to infusion of light reversing the roles on holy light and flash of light is a bit weird. It feels clunky? Also given our current talent selection I don’t see it possible to not go Glimmer.

The suggested changes to fix Holy Paladin would be first your Infusion of Light procs would grant a Holy Power. Judgements would also generate Holy Power for Holy and Prot. Giving us Holy Radiance back as a reliable AOE heal that builds Holy Power as a builder to Light of Dawn. Replacing a few talents and bringing in Eternal Flame to compete against a Glimmer style play.

Currently we have some dead talents that need to be looked into… The new Holy Avenger comes to mind. But unless we are getting some changes our healing toolkit is pretty limited. We’ll basically be going back to the WOTLK holy light bomber builds.

Urggg… theres still time to fix the ways of holy.

There is, but that time is running out.

Paladins and Monks have received the least attention of all the classes. Hopefully today’s build(Wednesday) will bring some changes to our specs and not just focusing on Blessing of Seasons from Night Fae.

Holy paladin atm is at bad compare to shaman / priest or druid. The class is falling behind on sun king for exemple. remove the class … bad one to play

True we should also delete both priest specs because they also fail to top meters on a joke healing boss that is padded to insane extremes. While we are at it given monks are the dominant healer on that boss we may as well delete shaman and Druid. That way we can all unify under the one true king of single target meaningless healing MW.
