Shadowlands. End of Old Lore

You obviously haven’t read the book. The Lich King spent years entombed in ice on the Frozen Throne. During that time there was a three corner battle for Arthas’ soul going on between the remnant of Ner’zhul, Arthas’ core personality, and the last remnants of his Humanity.

That opening scene in the cinematic where the first thing you see is the Lich King opening his eyes? That’s the moment in the Arthas novel where Arthas has eliminated both Ner’zhul’s presence and that of his remaining humanity. Everything that occurs after that, the whole Xandadu plan of creating a new force of uber agents by orchestrating the entire series of events that occur duringt he expac… is under Arthas’ agency alone.

I dont think this is the end of “old lore”…Shadowlands is a pivot point to new lore. it is pretty clear that with BFA, Blizzard reached the point of stagnation by being trapped to “old lore”. We have to venture into the unknown to breathe new blood into the franchise…we can’t keep recycling the old hoping that the game will revive its former popularity.

Old lore is the reason a lot of us are here to begin with. Lore can’t remain static, but treating it like coal for a steam engine (or worse, just arbitrarily deciding it was something different all along) will quickly sever the things connecting the players to the lore.
