Heroic raids allow for 10-30 people. Guilds can go shorthanded, and there will be room for you the following week. If they deny mythic slots because you celebrated Christmas, maybe you’re in the wrong guild?

Dude I’m sorry but I literally can’t relate to someone who takes this game that seriously.
When raids open I’m going to want to raid too but I’m sure I’ll be busy with life stuff which is fine.
To be honest It is a Job to some people. This is how they pay their bills, put food on the table and a roof over their families heads.
Not sure if that’s the case or not, but it sure sounds good.
World first race doesn’t stop for holidays. Neither does realm leaderboards.
People want to be first and will sacrifice family time to get it.
I’m more concerned with game breaking bugs they won’t fix because they’re on vacation.
This. The single worst problem with the WoW community is that world-first mythic raiding culture has tainted the discourse. That culture should affect less than 1% of players, and yet it somehow seems to dominate how we judge 100% of development decision making.

An alternative to delaying the raid is to just make it a longer raid tier.
The problem with WoW’s raiding the last couple expansions is that the first and second raid tiers are super-short (4-5 months), and then we’re in a long “content drought” at the end because Blizzard is TERRIBLE at pacing their raid releases.
I think opening Castle Nathria in December is fine as long as the next raid tier isn’t before June or July.
But they should announce that NOW so that people don’t feel pushed to rush rush rush over the holidays. (Because, Blizzard, YES, we do feel the need to rush rush rush the raid tiers, because you make them so short these days.)

Who is talking about heroic raids? Mythic raids require a lot more cohesion and if even 3-4 people dont go the entire raid cant go. You absolutely cannot go short handed during progression. Its putting the burden on both players that can and cannot work around the holidays.
“Its a game” is not relevant. I would have the same conversation about any hobby where me being around impacts others.
It is okay, if you want world first you have to work around Blizzard. Sorry you cant have your bloody cake and eat it too.

So they would be launching a new expansion, but not opening a major aspect of it like they have done for the last 16 years, because a few guilds can’t handle missing 2 weeks?
That is literally handcuffing the release of a game based on a very small amount of people caring.

Their expansion cycles are about 9 to 12 months. Their 17th is going up for pre-order soon. You want rushed raid tiers so check that out. Holy crap. I couldn’t do it.
Yes, I was asking to push it back 3 weeks because of the exact sentiment THEY THEMSELVES posted last year for the exact same block of holidays. Not only is there precedent but it was met almost universally positive last time. There is no reason at all to change it.

Yes, in a group hobby you rely on people. Same way if your center doesnt show up for a basketball game its a problem, the same way if your tank wants to celebrate Christmas youre stuck.
