Shadowlands and Threads of Fate

So I guess my level 51 warrior that got stuck there after going to Oribos and doing just enough to get sent to Bastion in the main questline will never be able to get into Threads of Fate. I meant to switch her to ToF when I heard it was being removed prior to DF, and then just forgot.

That seems to be consensus.

It’s a weird choice imo. At level 60 most people are heading for Dragonflight. The only reason anyone would want to do do it (other than a levelling choice through Chromie) is for the mogs, pets, mounts, etc. If that’s the case, why not let people who did it originally have the option to access ToF at 50? That way they could level up while being able to work on getting the things they want.

It seems a really odd design choice. I get that Chromie Time would complicate the issue, but at 50 character would be perfectly able to play it. Yet they currently cannot access the feature that would make it more fun.

It’s just weird.

Quoted for truth. I cannot figure out why they would go that route - other than maybe trying to pretend SL never happened.

Yeah the moment I got to 60, I could take Threads of Fate even after starting the storyline. Case closed.

(47 to 60 in less than 2 hours)

This is true but you still have to get to 70 somehow. Basically that means going to Chromie and picking another place to level. The choice you pick won’t have “Threads of fate” either, you will have to do the story.

False. Level 60 is fine as many of us have noted already.

False, unless you already started SL. If you’re fresh into SL on that toon, you get the option as soon as you’re ported to Oribos.

Are you sure of that? Can you still continue all the chapters of the DF story without making it to level 70?

What does Chromie time have to do with leveling in Dragonflight from 60 to 70 or Threads of Fate from Shadowlands? Regardless, there is no chromie time for 60 to 70, so just go level in Dragonflight normally.

What?

I think you’re just confused on the matter. If you’ve leveled up to 60+ without stepping into Shadowlands, you can skip the Maw intro to get to Oribos and then the next quest you can pick Threads of Fate. Which will skip the main storyline of Shadowlands and thus allow you to pick your covenant right away. As well as unlocking Korthia and Zereth Mortis

All of my new level 60+ alts that I leveled through timewalking was able to do the above scenario but if you stepped into Shadowlands before 60, after the pre-patch or something happened. Then you have no option other than finishing the main storyline, which is quite dumb.

This biggest/main issue is, you would have to go through the campaign to unlock the Maw, Korthia and Zereth Mortis… Whereas The Threads of Fate allowed you to skip all of that and go right into end-game content of Shadowlands.

So like, just put that back in for 60+ or have the ability to pick the covenant right away along with the Maw, Korthia and Zereth Mortis unlocked

Yeah I meant to say 60. That would fit within the context of what we were talking about. Typo.

Yes this is correct , unfortunately on this character I took my sweet time and didn’t fully level to 60 until dragon flight and when DF dropped I was still on th story quests in SL. So here Iam at 70 with 400+ ilevel and I just wanna do torghast and unlock Zereth Mortis and I can’t. Horrid!! Absolutely HORRID… give me a way to break out so I can just unlock the end game SL stuff PLEASE.

This is also my experience. I have a monk who was somewhere in the first few chapters of Bastion story quest (Same as you, Bastion chapters showing on quest log), but when I went to Oribos last week (she’s a level 70 now) and talked to the Threads NPC, they wouldn’t give me a skip dialog of any kind.

I understand it the same as you based on my experience: once you start the SL story it locks you out permanently on that character. It may be because my monk started SL story before DF came out? So she was 60. But then I stopped working on SL story and took her to DF for leveling 60-70 when the DF expansion came out. Now when I go back to SL I’m still stuck in the story and cannot Threads my way out.

Which just means I will never finish the story or pick a covenant on my monk. No thank you. Never again.

As a workaround, for the leather transmog set I wanted, I had another alt of mine that is a leather wearer change her covenant to Night Fae, and I did the anima & callings grind for the set so that my monk could wear it.

Hey, Knee… I’m resurrecting this, because I found another thing that can block people from getting Threads of Fate:

Since it does zone discovery, it can lock people out of ToF. So it cannot be used before doing the intro quests and picking up ToF.

damn. that really really sucks for me if true cuz i used that map on a lot of my lowbie alts when i was using every map for no particular reason.

I hope it doesn’t affect you… it affected one of my alts so far. I haven’t checked the others yet. :frowning:
