The damage gap between them and top classes is unchanged
ya i don’t think the average player has the grasp of how beneficial the spriest is
You need only 12000 overall raid dps to kill patchwerk before enrage meaning for the average group you only need everyone to be doing around 400 dps to beat it, most classes are hitting between 600 and 1000 dps these days so comp isnt an issue
but why struggle when you can bring another warrior.
not as if warlocks are doing that much damage anyways
.
Warlocks make cookies
Talking about spriest being viable is like saying you only need a .22 to hunt big game if you shoot it in both eyes from 5 feet away.
What is possible and what is practical are different things.
Hang in there friend! When they do the next round of ERA retuning mages/locks get a -75% dps pass to even things out!
If you want the brutal truth, no one wants to “throw away” gear by giving it to a class/spec combo that regularly does 50-75% less damage than your average mage/warlock. The poor class balance is what made a lot of people upset with classic, but that’s the reality of mostly #nochanges lol.
Your best bet is to find a casual guild that’s struggling to fill bodies and join up with them. Any semi-hc guild or higher probably wouldn’t take you unless you were willing to heal most of the time.
I do about 90% of the dmg a much better geared lock does and im no where near full gear and 30% of my damage heals my group
Exactly this
Same with rets and shamans
The gear is better off on warriors / hunters
Not really you just seem to lack the ability to consoder utility over omg big dumage
Some guilds don’t care and will bring meme spec. Some do care and won’t. That’s the gist
When 2019 classic came out I was excited to find a guild that would let me raid as shadow (shout out to The House - Arcanite Reaper). It was doable but far from optimal. In hindsight I kind of feel dirty about it.
I think this is why a lot of meme specs will raid as their meta spec until the raid is smoother, then play their desired spec. Or for example, I know a player who played his warr in nax and feral in lower raids until the feral had enough gear (and the main raid) he could smoothly be feral in naxx too.
He was also a really nice guy who was super helpful which helped all of us be very happy to have him play his desired class/spec. I feel like Meme specs you get further as a genuine kind and helpful player, too.
Nothing against the warlock but they’re just bad if they’re getting beat or close to being beat by an spriest lol especially if they’re outgearing you, bc in almost any scenario a warlock/mage should be stomping an spriest. You can see for yourself from the numbers on WCL. If you take a look at Patchwerks top 100 for warlock for instance, their lowest damaging warlock on the list is still beating the number one spriest on their list.
Obviously it’s classic and “who cares”, it can be easily cleared without meta classes and even without wbuffs but it’s just the matter of why throw out gear for a less optimal class in most cases when not only are the other options outperforming said class, loot is also extremely limited in classic as well.
Sounds like youre misinformed. Allow me to explain:
A warlock has no innate hit talents. I get 10% for free. Meaning warlock gearing has to account for 16% hit rating, in many cases sacrificing spellpower and/or crit to obtain it. I need 6% and thats hilariously easy to get.
A warlock has to gear for Crit due to the way Improved Shadowbolt works. I have one spell that can crit - Mind Blast - that unless i want to light money on fire for mana pots and dark runes isnt always feasible to use on fights longer than 2 minutes. Therefore i absolutely do not ever have to worry about gearing for crit whereas a Warlock has to take it into consideration, potentially sacrificing SP to get/keep it.
If the Warlock crits, he buffs me by 20% for the duration of Imp Shadowbolt as neither Flay nor SWP remove stacks of Imp SBolt.
Between Shadowform and the Darkness talent, i gain an additional 25% Shadow damage for free. DSac only gives him 15%.
Gearing an SPriest is easier than gearing a Warlock. I can focus almost exclusively on throughput with a minor focus on spell hit. Its extremely easy to outpace a Warlock and even with equal gear, if he doesnt crit, he will be neck and neck with an SPriest.
Because of all this, i can - with a mix of AQ and BWL gear - push TBC levels of spell power at level 60. Something the Warlock cannot. Have you ever seen an SWP or Flay tick for 500+? I have. If gearing is kind to me, i should be able to push out 600+ ticks on both before TBC.
can you please post your priests name and server? I only wish to educate myself.
Your dps is low avg. Your utility means only one is needed for raids.
Sucks but it is what it is for vanilla.
If i understand correctly you are saying it’s a disadvantage to warlocks that they have spells that crit? Interesting…
Thank you for posting on your Shadow priest. I would like to point out to the OP that you are healing in Naxx, and despite your gear being very good you are not hitting the 700dps mark without WBS that the OP claims to be hitting.
you also out gear the locks in your raid by at least 5 Ilvl
