NS is bis, but IMO for PVP ele play is a bit more useful in PVP, but try out whatever you enjoy most man. Just whatever you do, make sure you bring LiP and nades; you will need them 100%.
I know nothing is as good as hpala in vanilla pvp, its in a tier of its own imo. But i really wanted to play a healer on horde lol. I picked sham because i suspect Priests will be a lot squishier in BGs. Good call about EM spec, ive been deleted by a few ele/resto hybrid in my day they are scary in a BG setting.
I normally play NS Elemental; this way you got instant heal if you really need it or the instant Zap if you need it. This is for maximum flexibility… Also consider Cow or Troll, both are better than orc because they offer you real advantage in different ways. RNG stun resist never works when you really want it.
Really the only talent you actually need in the Ele tree is Elemental Fury I often wrongly always for some reason call this Eelemtnal Mastery.
Once you got BWL Class trinket its GG well played with NS + even T2; but 2.5 is BiS basically minus some naxx items you will want; tho you will never really replace that T2 class trinket.
You are however always chained to Eng if you want to PVP on shaman, its soooooo dependent that its almost insane. Nades and LiP will give you the breathing room you need to cast, and if you see a caster winding up his zug on you hold your grounding totem till the last 1/10th sec till the cast completes otherwise someone with a totem stomp macro will ruin your day.
I despise totem stompers in the same way I hate the macro botters that apply CoT to anything with a mana pool and Kick botters.
I was going to go enchanting so im glad i talked to you. Didnt realize it was that rough without engi for shammy and i wasnt planning on going Tauren lol.
Cow is sooooo good. Once you play it you will understand the advantages. You’re gonna laugh once you get dingus rogues and warriors kicking your warstomp cast =);’ They do it all the time!
You could do Enchanting + Eng, and just buy the pots for PVP.
Man i wish I could play tauren. Ive tried… its hard to get used to the bulk and “slow running” feel
Feels slower for sure, but its the same as everyone else. Troll is also really good, that haste on cast is actually fairly good. I Just prefer Warstomp.
Is deep resto (skipping the ele 100% crit dmg talent) viable for “holy paladin style” healing? Like sitting back behind the lines healbotting etc? I actually really love this about my Hpala in 2019 classic. Doesnt seem like horde have anything quite like it in vanilla.
Can I ask how you did it? Also why did you do it knowing the struggle?
Similar but you’re dependent on Eng and alch to get it done. The reason you need the NS is for the output since you don’t have Divine shield to extend with your melee or caster friends. Also you will need to lean on your tremor / grounding very carefully and you will need to also (forgot about this) Restoration pots.
Tho I brought the Resto pot abuse over to my pala, and its kinda OP doing that with nades and rocket boots / FAP / LiP / LaP.
I need to make some gold this time around lol, no question about it!
Still better than a squishy priest
Maybe an annoying response. I’ve never played priest much. But warlock is VERY fun and has been throughout WoWs life.
indeed, once you got T2+ and a decent shield; you can kinda sorta shrug off some melee… warriors and good rogues still can hurt really bad tho. Once you get use too it, you will see where the trade offs are, especially VS melee pala is soooooooooooo good.
If the warrior is against a soul link warlock, the warlock will win. You have to be in a vegetative state to lose a 1v1 as a soul link warlock.
Most will be destro or SM/ruin because those are way better for group PvP, but world PvP hero locks are the king gankers.
I mained spriest because i wanted to turn off my brain and kill everything and have shadowform.
Spriest is easy af. You are probably one of the most efficient solo levelers in game with spirit tap, especially if you prioritize having a shadow damage based wand.
You have spell knockback protection baked into base abilities and talents.
You have a purge/dispel
You are tanky af
You self heal a ton once you get good gear and 5 stacks of shadow weaving and slap a vamp embrace on someone.
Im R8 currently with terrible gear and can almost afk vs most classes.
Cons of spriest like mentioned before… if you cough you go oom. If the player youre fighting can dispel youre kind of a waste of a slot. And its really difficult to dps in anything serious unless they want you there for shadow weaving for the locks. Typically in progression guilds the one spriest slot is some officers friend.
that is exactly what the issue is. 95% of players are just looking for globals and huge burst damage they dont care about supporting their team. good pallies i see are far and few.
yeah leveling a priest is easy with wand spec, PWS, dot and just wand, never any downtime. Incredibly boring, but pretty fast regardless.
Warlock by a mile. Shadow Priest spends more time OOM than in the fight.
Holy Pally has its moments. So does a disc Priest. HP can BOP, Priest can offensive dispell. HP can cleanse poisons, Priest can Mana burn. Ive played a Holy Pally in PvP for a long time. Very fun if youre committed to being a defensive healer and not much more.
Well its both actually, just depends on how you play it; there is very much an art to the play style, its just not in your face in the same way that Priest hybrid healers can be; its just… different.
