Looking for advice on which ranged class to pick up. I play a lot of LFG when I am bored so I like healing off specs.
My main partner is a Druid who plays both boomy and feral at high levels. He also has a frost mage he recently fell in love with.

gun in arena, has the option to play the other 2 top tier specs, is currently top tier itself, has a ton of utility, has like… never been bad

While I adore Casius’s enthusiasm, Spriest is way more meta than Ele right now. lol
I play both and I think spriest is better overall in this meta. It has better cc, better defensives, and when getting trained it can keep up pressure via dots. Versus ele where you rely more on RNG procs. Despite ele doing more burst in short windows, it is telegraphed and easy to shut down or counter. Also, if left alone spriest seems to have more impact.
Both bring lots of utility to the team and are a big reason to bring either. Both work and I believe are fun to play, but for rating climbing spriest felt better.
Would spriest be ok in LFG?
It’s my experience that Spriest can sort of ‘fit in’ with roughly anything. So you should do pretty well, and worst case scenario if you can’t get queues? Both healing classes are both excellent right now.
Yeah. I literally did no voice LFG WPS from 2300-2500 on mine. People will be more willing to take spriest than sham.
What about these SP nerfs? I heard it was dumpster for 9.2? I always assume that’s not true but with blizzard you never know

Shadow hands down.
It doesn’t benefit as much from the tier set or double legendary compared to most classes and necro is being nerfed but they’ll still be great in 9.2… but probably a little worse off then now. I haven’t played PTR
I’m not sure about any of that. I don’t really read PTR stuff except for stuff that directly concerns things I’m playing.
What Meta
Although I’m higher exp on ele I cannot get it this season as easy as all my other toons. It’s clear it’s not meta but def fun for glad pushes and learning a fun class.

Spriest is pretty much fun. Holy is boring but disc is fun. Priest is a good class to pick up if you play healer since one of that healer spec will be viable in any patch but i’m leaving priest next patch and playing Hpally.

the answer to this is SP. ele is not as good at playing without a healer as shadow; worse control, worse off-the-mount burst. feral/boomy+sp is a better 2s comp.
priest works fine here too, both classes can heal pretty self-sufficiently in 2s which is what you want for lfging
