Man, I hope this isn’t the answer, but thanks for the idea. I’ll test it when I get some time and notice the framerate plunge again.
“Dear Microsoft-Blizzard”
Please default disable the CPU Profiler that is force-enabled in v11.1.5
Add a toggle on option if/when someone is working with support and needs that feature.
After it’s toggle off, with no addons enabled, then please also work on stuttering some are experiencing.
Signed,
WoW Players with odd stuttering at times since v11.1.5
If its not that profiler then there’s something else going on. I have a great computer. Installed GeForce RTX 4060 about a month ago. I dip to 12fps in boss encounters in liberation of undermine. Yes. I’m graphics updated. Yes, addons all disabled. I have jumped through hoops for 2 solid hours messing around with settings, running lfr to test. Something isn’t right. Attributing it to something I can’t control. Bumping to keep it focused!
Trying to run heroic raid right now is crazy. Getting down to 20 frames at times.
Some people are calling it DDoS, but it may just be busted patch code still.

Capped my system at 120fps, because I thought the 200+ I was getting was overkill, now I’m 60 at best, and dropping to 30fps in raids.
My friend, respectfully, how the F are you getting those framerates in wow? I have 6800XT and 9900k overclocked to 5Ghz and even without this issue they’re having I am getting at MOST 140fps but raids with 20 people I get maximum 40-50fps.
I’ve had to stop raiding all together because of it and now it’s happening in m+ (my favourite game mode) and I’m having to stop that too because of this issue.
What settings are you running?
I’ve tried with/without addons and there is no difference either
Here is what I did to fix my frame rate issues and it worked for the most part.
I was running discord at the same time I was playing and I noticed after a recent update the Discord Overlay was turned on but not interfering with my FPS like it used to so I kept it on.
However after this patch launch I could not figure out why my FPS was more trash than the Stix Bunkjunker room. On a hunch I disabled the discord overlay and my FPS jumped like 40 frames. I think something in the patch was not reacting well to my Discord Overlay.
Can confirm that I am experiencing similiar issues.
Interestingly enough, I have had experienced severe FPS drops even in Vanilla (Season of Discovery), where I used to play on max settings without any problems during original classic release) + occassional freezes.
Also regarding TWW as a whole, I feel like my FPS drops with each patch they released, which was not the case in Dragonflight.
Dornogal is rather dull city compared to picturesque Valdrakken, and yet it consumes so much more resources compared to Valdrakken. I call this a very poor technical design. Something clearly went off since TWW in terms of adequate graphics design.
Not sure if it will be helpful for anyone else, but I was getting 50fps sitting at the start of Sidestreet Sluice, and turning off the built-in low latency mode shot me up over 200fps instantly. (Ryzen 7 7700x, 7900 XTX)
Before the update I was getting around 200fps in raids. Now I’m getting 40fps with all addons turned off. I have to switch from direct x 12 to direct x 11 to see my GPU get used at all. This was 100% something in the update.
I am running a 9800x3d with a 7900XTX
Having the same issue but im on PC not MAC. Is there a section i can address this at?
I did try this out but however the same issue is happening.
How about you take off the damn addon profiler and maybe that will help with fps? Seeing it takes up so much and you would probably get 20 to 30 frames back…Not a smart idea, before we didn’t need the add on profiler and things were just fine when ya’ll added that fps became crap…Remove it.
Here’s what fixes it for me – Toggle “Optional GPU Features” off and back on every time I log in. There are forum posts from August 2024 about a similar bug. Also, for whatever reason I’ve had the same bug in Draenor zones for months. Toggling the optional GPU features checkbox fixes it until next game launch.
Hopefully they can find and fix the bug. Something changed in 11.1.5.
Just came back to wow for the first time after the patch. 100% something changed I’m running a 9800x3d and a 9070xt. Previously I was getting around 250 fps now I’m around 140 fps with the exact same settings. Not that 140 fps is bad or unplayable just crazy to see the drop.
From my understanding majority of players are experiencing the fps issues. Doesn’t matter if your system is brand new or 10 yrs old, blue or green, and so forth.
What ive found out is that its the addon manager and that wow is throttling our cpu cores. For instance, wow is throttling 2 out of 8 for me for my rig and on another rig its 4 of 8.
If we can hop onto other games and have no issues but hop onto wow and have all these issues, its most definitely our pc that are the root of the issues. ( rolls eyes )
I am having the same issue. Now I dont have a cutting edge new pc but I would still get 60fps out in the world with medium to high settings. Now i’m lucky to break 30. Even when all settings put on low nothing changes? Kind of annoying.
I’ve noticed that World of Warcraft has been suffering from FPS drops recently — not just for me, but for many other players too. Lowering graphics settings, resolution, updating drivers, and even disabling addons only slightly improved performance. My CPU, GPU, and memory usage are all within normal limits, so bottlenecks don’t seem to be the issue.
I use Lossless Scaling, and even with it running, the FPS issues persisted. However, while tweaking around, I think I may have found something interesting that helped — and I’d like to share the hypothesis here.
Lossless Scaling has an option called “Maximum Frame Latency”. When I increased this value, I noticed a clear improvement in FPS stability. This made me think: some users also report slight improvements when disabling WoW’s “Low Latency Mode”, which led me to this idea:
Hypothesis: WoW might be intentionally limiting frame delivery or introducing a form of artificial latency based on frames, possibly to better synchronize with network latency. This could be Blizzard’s way of avoiding input issues or inconsistencies caused by internet lag. By increasing frame latency externally (via Lossless Scaling), we might be giving the system more time between frames, which can reduce stuttering and smooth out performance — especially if WoW’s internal frame timing is causing conflicts.
If that’s the case, then raising the max frame latency externally (like through Lossless Scaling or driver settings) could help offset whatever internal limits WoW is placing, leading to better performance.
This may not be a universal fix, but it might help others who are struggling with the same problem. I’d be curious to hear if anyone else sees improvements by adjusting these settings.
I think adding this to the bug report thread about the profiler would be a good idea. That’s where the official response (that I shared above) was posted.
