Server Login Queues vs Sharding vs Other

You realize temporarily raise yhe cap means sharding right? Exactly what we don’t want

Maybe if blizzards implementation of sharding wasn’t complete crap i could vouch for it but that ship is sailed.

If we can’t even come up with a decent alternative in that timeframe, what makes you think they can?

Nah as I stated originally. This is to flush out the overall community opinion. You are part of it. Their reactions are part of it. All of this was expected.

Uh, no. Strawman away but that’s not what I said, or ever would say.

Raising the caps allows more people to log in. It doesn’t require sharding, it doesn’t require changes to the game.

As discussed elsewhere, the general consensus is that the existing hardware platform, when applied to Classic will far outperform both Vanilla and BfA for “Characters in Zone” capability.

Therefore they can raise the login cap, allow more people in the Silithus and Tanaris zones, and get everyone the chance to see the opening.

… All without panic, fluster, or desperate solutions that damage the rest of the game for that one off event.

Or you can just play the game. Sharding or not, you’re probably going to be doing most of your grouping with your guild in instanced dungeons. Unless you’re standing around IF showing off your leet epix, you’re not going to notice.

That’s not on me. I’m already being accommodating allowing sharding during the launch window.

A failure on there part doesn’t mean they get ro break there word.

Thats not technically true. Servers can have hardware limits above what you cap the server at. So you could set it at 5k for example, then cap it down to 3k later on without using sharding and having people vanish while standing next to each other.

Sharding is ONE way you can handle temporarily raising caps, but its not the only way.

Dude… you really need to learn how businesses address their customers. They didn’t give us any word other than Classic was coming. That’s it. If you want to take every little announcement they make as a promise, fine, but it’s no wonder you’re so jaded if that’s the case.

Actually, in Vanilla I spent far far more time in the game world, even though I raided 3 nights a week.

Allowing?

So tell me, was it interesting leading Elitist Jerks and having so much that you do being based on your own theorycrafting?

Beta may not be free. Paying to get into Beta may give them a better idea as to how many people are going to play. Helps weed out potential tourists, too.

Let’s be real, aside from current subs, how can they really tell without something more tangible to help them prepare?

And you need to learn how awful blizzards implementation of sharding is before you defend them using it.
Sharding outside launch means lost subs.

The game will be free within an existing subscription. So Beta will be free if its offered, under the same methods that expansions are offered as beta.

I know how awful it is. You’ve made that abundantly clear. I just don’t see it as being more awful than server crashes, merges, and queues.

Funny how other mmos don’t have either problem. Maybe you should stop accepting blizzards mediocrity and hold them accountable.

The other MMOs also don’t have the population that WoW did.

Login que’s weren’t that bad. I remember them and at most it was a 2-15 minute wait to login during peak hours on a high pop server. For me at least.

Ff14 says hi.
Also. Seeing as i never get answers from you, you don’t get answers from me.

Yeah I doubt they’re my biggest fans right now considering I was vehement that their anti-flight stance during WoD was a bad idea… a stance I was proven right on.

If they wouldn’t listen to me then, why would they listen to me now, about this?
