Well, today’s launch test was a mixed bag at best, and now the servers are going down for some bug fixes.
Let’s talk! Here, I’ll get this party started with an old favorite:

how long???
I read in game that they would be down for 10 minutes, but unsure if that’s true.
Hey friends,
How’s everyone’s day going?
Level 7 in roughly 3.5 hours…
where the heck did that 3.5 hours go?
Oh I was thrilled. Just got home from work remembered about the stress test. Logged in for the first time. Killed a boar. Dc’d.
dude, I know! I came home from work at 7, napped, and then just kept playing lol
Seemed fairly smooth to me. Was a clusterF for about 10 minutes until layers started to smooth out. Had a bad lag spike for about 1 min. and then it was smooth sailing to level 11 before downtime.
Was part of a small counter raid in Elywnn Forest, got wiped at Tower of Azura. Fun stuff!
The only issue I had was getting repeatedly disconnected. At least once I was in the game, it was a temporary disconnect, so I didn’t have to re-queue each time.
It was fun… some trolls poked their heads saying classic sucked but it was fun grouping with people and seeing hogger go down
Any minute now……>clicking nails on desk<
Its interesting to see how important social play is, at least in the starter zones. You really do need to group for some of the stuff if you dont want to be trying to kill X in less than half an hour. I’m sure that will lessen as the players spread out across the zone but I’ve enjoyed it. Created a mage and had fun buffing the casters, and going yippee, I can make drinks when I got to level 4
Don’t know how it was on the other servers, but the Oceanic one was fairly calm with no dc’s and a very short wait time.
Looks like they took it down to add RP-PVP server. Should be back up in a few minutes.
My only major issue was that when renaming my beta client to a flat classic folder to use it, the game’s auto patch nuked all my addons and saved variables from beta (that’ll teach me to not make a copy of the addons folder before doing something like that). RIP an hour of my life getting profiles set back up for my common addons.
I suppose I have a minor issue now of being miles behind the pack but w/e this is only to 15 anyhow, that’s like 4-5hrs tops, and NFL preaseason is on tonight regardless so I wasn’t going to be too concerned about doing any speed run tests until 2morrow.
There was something intriguing about playing Classic WoW that I haven’t felt in retail for quite some time. I think it’s more the community aspect of it as opposed to retail where everyone’s doing there own thing and the only communication you got from in main towns were guilds recruiting, Mythic Plus runs for gold, and not anything good as the Classic Elwynn Forest was.
Before Barov got dc’d, there was a group of people corralling around a named mob that needed to be killed for a quest, and someone invited me to a group for the kill count. Never had that happen in Warlords, Legion, or current version, and I guess I realized that I miss that social interactions.
Man this is great to read - I’m… not sober and this is very fun to read while I am waiting for the servers to come back up.
Got home from work, logged in, only to see that the server shutdown was in 8 minutes. But damn those were a nostalgic 8 minutes.
I’ve been monitoring the servers and it seems to let me past the “CANNOT CONNECT TO BLIZZARD” and now I can see all available realms. It’s an interesting development for sure, However they are all still offline.
It’s funny I just got home from work and dashed to my pc, I still had to update and make a character. Once loaded I sat through the whole thrilling undead cutscene, and just as the moment hit where I ran out of the catacomb “SERVER SHUTDOWN 2:00”.
Servers are back up by the way.
