Serious Red Bar Latency on Lightbringer

I am in eastern canada and i play on lightbringer and i am red bar 1500-2000ms. I just had to leave my raid group progressing on the jailer cause of this. Lightbringer is a west coast time zone realm.

I just logged into my toons on illidan and stormrage which are eastcoast and the ms is good 60-70ms.

2nd edit: now cant even log into battle.net but got full speed access to everything else.

Trace complete.

Hey there,

Given that you are seeing issues not only in game but with the Blizzard Desktop application as well, indicates this is likely some sort of connection issue to the service.

The trace route shows some evidence of instability but nothing conclusive given the test limitations. We may be able to get a better look at the connection routing if you were to run a WinMTR instead.

Ideally we’d want 2 tests, each about 10 minutes long. (If you are able to get in game.) The first test while in game and seeing the high latency, the second while on the other server and seeing normal latency.

If you still cannot log into battle.net itself, then a single 10 minute test to the patch service (listed in the article) would have to do for now.

thank you. i downloaded winmtr and ran it 2 times but my ms was perfect. i know this topic will close a month after last reply so as soon as or if i run into this problem again i will run the program and post the txt file as reply. thanks for the help.

I know it may sound cliche, but have you tried turning everything off and on again?

Like no joke that usually fixes a BUNCH of my issues. Turn it all off (router modem everything) wait about 15 seconds turn it back on and tada! And if you did do that, well hopefully you figure out where it’s coming from.

yea we tried that. its weird because i was only getting the high ms and dc when in the raid on lightbringer. i told the rl to remove me until it can stabilize and during the meantime i went to illidan and stormrage and messed around for a few mins and the ms was perfect. so im not sure about how anything works but i was just assuming that maybe lightbringer being on the west coast i was losing something that way.

i dunno im a dummy when it comes to computer stuff lol. thanks for the info though keep it coming if you know of anything else i can try. good news is the guild killed him the jailer. so hopefully next week my ms is stabilized.

Ah got you. Hopefully you get it figured out and I would do what Kersh said that way they can see what’s going on and I would do tests connected to light bringer and one connected to another server that doesn’t have as much lag. That way, if it’s getting hung up somewhere the GM can see it and assist ya.

so i got back on again for a bit and within 10 minutes or so of being back on it started again. this winmtr test was done on lightbringer the west coast server time realm, was getting almost 1k ms again. i will do illidan realm and upload in a bit.

Having the exact same issue on and off for a month now I think. I’ll redline and then DC w/o actually DCing. I’m not losing connection to anything else when this happens and it only happens in wow. I tried playing on a VPN and the connection, while bad, was at least stable.

First thing, try rebooting your router and modem. You should not be having packet loss from your computer to the router like that.

yea we tried the reseting and rebooting a few times but to no avail. there is a tech from the internet company coming today so hopefully if it is on our end he can fix it or give a new modem or w/e. when i was talking to a rep late last night he did a ping or something and he said he can see a loss so we will see today i guess.

i will provide an update of what he does just so we are all on the same page and if there are any more problems hopefully there is other steps we can take.

also the modem i have is an Arris DG3270. we had it now for about 5 years now and i mean its been good up until say last week. eastlink here had a massive outage where the internet didnt go down but the speeds were so low that i couldnt even log into battle.net or even use any websites. it was dial up speed.

since the “fix” the speed has been ok at times but really bad other times.

well i dont know what is slower… eastlink internet or the techs. supposed to be here between 8am and 11am. showed up at 4pm. so they replaced the modem. didnt see any current problems but said there were a few t3’s showing up yesterday. and also said that there is a splice in the wire from the house to the pole which shouldnt be. said it should of been 1 whole wire. they will send someone out for that in a week or so. fingers crossed problem is or will be fixed.
