Using PdaNet from phone only reliable service I can get at my house I cannot connect to live or classic. Even with a VPN from all countries I’ve tried still no luck.
Internet Connection: Tethering app on android phone PDAnet or EasyTether

Does a VPN Address the issue for you, if so, which one? : Yes, ProtonVPN
Is this affecting both Live and Classic connections? : Yes
So I’m using PDANet with Verizon…so we can’t play at all now? Because I havent been able to play at all since yesterdays attack.

**Internet Connection:**Wired

Does a VPN Address the issue for you, if so, which one? :No I actually need WTFast to play with as little lag as possible. The VPN stopped working completely after this IP blacklist/DDOS attack.
Is this affecting both Live and Classic connections? :Both
Like I said, VPN (WTFast) is broken. NordVPN doesn’t work as well. Without the VPN, my ping is usually 140ms. Now it’s 300-420ms and sometimes I get a DC for no reason.
Well good to know I am not the only person having issues still : / not sure why we arent able to connect to wow for us using tethering
Hey Ibaraius, it’s pretty much confirmed by the Linux community’s discoveries that the Blizzard operations team set up a packet TTL filter with the intention to drop packets coming from potential DDoS sources. The problem that they maybe didn’t realize is that by doing that they killed the connections to all players who have low TTL values on their operating system (all Linux desktops systems by default) or have any kind of middleware device that does the same (Android tethering, VPNs, WTFast and so on).
This is the issue the technical team should be aware of, since they’re denying service to paying customers by (what I hope is) a mere accident. Thanks for the help so far.
Using Wired broadband
ISP: M1, from Singapore
VPN: using ProtonVPN, can connect and play at 408ms. once i disconnect VPN, unable to play.
OS: Windows10
Router: Asus lyra trio
Without VPN, i can play on live servers - Caelestrasz(Oceanic) and US classic servers.
i want to play with my friends on the Classic Oceanic realms - Felstriker, but to do that, i have to connect thru a service which i rarely use and i would like to have a smooth gameplay without 408ms latency.
The passive fingerprinting is causing the issue, we simply change the time to live value to something more like a windows OS would use (default 128) and for most people it works like a charm.
For others they have to make the change on a router.
For people using a VPN their TTL most likely is changed too.
From the link I posted that explains how passive fingerprinting works and what the main things checked are, making adjustments to 1 or more of these values to mask as another OS fingerprint proves we can bypass this passive check.
What you need to do here is setup your own linux distribution (Ubuntu 18.04) and get a working WINE build setup with classic (the issue is BOTH retail and classic) then test this yourselves on a offnet network.
Please post your results after you let us know how it goes.
We can’t do everything for you, it is a shame to submit a ticket we need all kinds of information when the work around for us is so simple (Maybe not easy for everyone but thats blizzards job to figure out)
