This is retarded, you want to pay a Sub for a game you want not changes too, no updates, and no added content. Just so the rift raft stays out and you can reserve a character name?!
You are the exact person DLC was made for!
This game at best should be a 1 time purchase of $40 or worst $5 a month with a discount if you buy a full year.
I don't see how you'll find time to play retail when you're having so much fun playing Classic forever and ever.
Why on earth would I pay for retail? No one has a gun to my head (the only reason I would play)?
D3 does not have a subscription, it was released over six years ago.
If they were to introduce a subscription to that 'complete game' (d3) there would be private servers popping up left, right and center.
if Classic gets a subscription of any sort, private servers would continue to compete with it.
The fact that (any)thing cost money in the world goes without saying, it is just unbelievable that people would be willing to spend money on a subscription for classic is beyond my ability to comprehend - I would be tempted to ask 'Are people really that gullible' only I would not like to hear the answer.

10/25/2018 07:27 PMPosted by TyrilinaYou people are the worst. Classic is for everyone not just you.
Trying to be everything to everyone is what ruined the game.
Stay in BFA if you feel so hurt.

10/25/2018 08:41 PMPosted by Giterdunnlol. Elitist Classic fans wanting to segregate the different playerbases behind two paywalls.
And you wonder why people don't like you or your !@#$ty opinions.
Ooh, elitist AND segregation mentioned in one breath. Heaven forbid that two completely different things should have separate price tags.
Why should we care if a freeloading BFA player doesn’t like us or our &$#@y opinions?

And who will pay to host those private servers? As I mentioned above, they aren't cheap. I highly doubt current donors will keep giving to a project once blizzard releases classic, which will likely be far more stable, and include support that a private server can't compete with.

You are aware there were private servers during vanilla?
To you five hundred dollars might be classified as a lot, when spread amounts a hundred people it is five dollars apiece.
if the subscription is fifteen dollars people would ask themselves is five dollars cheaper?
I would hazard to guess that if Blizzard asked for it, the server costs as well as all of the other costs involved could easily be met by fan donations.

Except you can go look at the donations. Private servers are funded by a very small number of people. The overwhelming majority pay nothing. This doesnt even factor in the shadyness and drama of private servers. Ddosing each other, internal sabatoge, Devs selling boosts and other services under the table. Nobody in there right mind would fund that when they could pay just a bit more for a far more stable amd fair server.
Also, lol at the vanilla era private servers....not even comparable to New and the like. Those were purely small fun servers where people could cheat and play god.

Classic WoW boosters said there was more than enough demand for Blizzard to remaster vanilla WoW. They dangled the hundreds of thousands of players on private servers to support it.
Now they are saying 'but not if Blizz charges a sub fee'? A for-profit corporation forgoing making a profit from a product in high demand? You guys must be kidding.

These aren't classic wow boosters, these are the anti classic trolls that are still mad blizzard decided to release it.
10/24/2018 02:06 PMPosted by NaryaI don't care about having to purchase Classic (one-time fee) or not.
I don't really care what the subscription fee is; I'm pretty sure it's not going to be more than $15 for Classic.
But please, Blizzard, don't bundle Classic for free with Live. Some of us aren't interested in playing live, will never be interested in playing live, and would prefer the character names we wanted weren't grabbed by retail players who just wanted to poke their heads in and yell LOL WHY ARE YOU PLAYING AN OLD GAME WHAT"S WRONG WITH YOU!!!111?
Give Live players a discount if you want. Make paying for either Classic or Retail cost $15/month but paying for both of them cost only $20. Or make them entirely separate, such that paying for both of them costs $30. Or make Classic cheaper because it's not what you care about. Just don't offer Classic free with a Retail subscription.
Then don't play live. If the sub is going to be the same either way, what does it matter? I want to play both, and do t feel like I should have to shell out $30 every month for it. I don't see how this would affect you at all. You are willing to pay $15, you get access to both games, you play the one you like, the end. No need to !@#$ over others because you are pointlessly selfish, over a name you may want, GTFO. If this isn't one of the most entitled threads I've ever read.
Bro, Its going to be one time fee and requires you having an active subscription, if new expansions releases with live you wont have to buy it to play classic, just keep your subscription active.
if Blizzard wants the game to thrive they will have linked subs get over it, dont want to play bfa? dont!

Who are “they”? Most who do not have current bfa subs are the ones who lobbied for classic and are willing to pay a specific sub for it. It is current retail players who do not want to pay separatele additional cost for it.

Do you have some numbers on that? I've been subbed since vanilla, and have been asking for classic servers (as well as BC, and wrath), so I would really like to see the source you got the info stating most of the people wanting classic aren't currently subbed. Of course I don't want to pay a separate fee, because I plan on playing both. I can make asinine comments, too. Those who are currently unsubbed are the ones who want two separate subs.

No thanks. Scurry back to your private servers if outsiders scare you. This isn't your game.

I was thinking about getting Classic free if you're paying retail or $5 if you just want Classic. This or a one time fee.
People don't seem to get the main fear here. Vanilla server were believed to have a cap of 2500. That was all the people you had to play with. Cross realm battlegrounds came at the end and are something alot of players don't really want. We also didn't have CRZs.
I'm also under No illusion that Classic will be able to compete with retail as far as player base goes, there will be far fewer of us. So by opening up classic to everyone with a retail sub, you will be lucky to get 500 actual classic fans per server. The other 2000 will be retail players trying it out.
This is where things go bad. I have no faith that retail players who enjoy BFA will like classic. I have read all the complaints they have about BFA....the things they hate about BFA are much much worse in Classic. Most will quit within weeks. Even if 25% stay, and I feel that number is overly optimistic, that leaves servers with 1000 players, which is a dead server.
Merges would have to happen, and merges suck. They are something that should be avoided because they are bad for server community, which is really important in Classic.
