Sentinel Owl needs changed

Today, i realized Sentinel Owl’s tooltip says, “Your attacks ignore line of sight against any target in this area.” Really? So i test it and tried to shoot through a wall at a dummy. Yup, went through the wall…

Now, that seemed broken when i first discovered it, but… the tooltip says, “if they are in the area of the owl”. Okay, fine, root trap, or any other cc roots other people might use. In pve this could also be useful if you have to move behind something to dodge an AoE from the boss, but still do damage. great!

Though, further reading of the tooltip, 90 (150 as BM and Surv) focus for 1 charge, need a minimum of 5 charges…? So, I need 450 focus spent to even cast this ability? thats 4 and a half bars of the base focus bar, what? Over 10 aimed shots (not including any filler arcane shots, or whatever).

(Now, when i started testing this I didn’t realize it charges up to the base 5 out of combat gradually. [I was in combat at the time of testing] and thought oh, my original argument was really stupid. Then, I realized, it doesn’t recharge to the base 5 in combat.)

Hm, well that sucks, so back to 450 focus just get to be able to use it again. At 0 stacks I did 1 million damage to a pvp dummy. Thats far too much damage for quite a unique yet, easy to avoid ability.

Why I’m mostly focused on MM, is because its what I play, but LoS is our big deal, and would like to see this changed for all classes but it would help MM the most. I know I’m a bit biased, but it would also help BM with their pet, and I suppose surv a bit too.

Here is my whole reason creating this, is, its not Sentinel Owl that needs changed. No, its the sub-talent bottom left of that Sentinel’s Perception. That needs to change to decrease the amount of focus needed to get a charge of the Owl by half. And, if needed to kinda make it a bit more “fair”? I guess, could increase it to 6 charge base needed to case it.

Thats my more than my 2 cents on a talent I don’t think anyone is talking about, but it is a really interesting talent that could make interesting plays in pvp, and make hunter do more damage in pve.

TL;DR:
Sentinel Owl’s sub talent “Sentinel’s Perception” needs changed to reduce the cost of focus needed per charge in half.

They need to make it bigger or have the debuff again where if you walk out you still are hittable for a few seconds. It’s fairly weak compared to resonating arrow

I didn’t know resonating arrow was a thing, didn’t play hunter much in shadowlands, and when i did I played Night fae.

But, yeah, increasing the AoE of it was my 2nd idea they could do. Giving you 4 sec of it if they walk out of the area is also another nice idea.

Need to be removed and something that is worth a damn added lol

In one of the new dungeons I thought, Oh look this ability will be perfect to deal with this mechanic. But no. If the mobs also have to be in the same circle it’s pretty much useless.

Yeah many raid builds have it listed also to take I readjust those points elsewhere no use for Sentinal Owl Crap ever.

I agree. I see raid builds wasting 2 points on this talent. I will allocate them somewhere else. This talent is 99% useless.

Sadly there is no flexibility in the hunter trees as far as bm goes… this talent was never going to be a thing. Its a lame gimmick with no real use.

I must say this is now a second x-pac in a raw where blizzard has made it seem like they simply put 0 effort into hunters.
