Today, i realized Sentinel Owl’s tooltip says, “Your attacks ignore line of sight against any target in this area.” Really? So i test it and tried to shoot through a wall at a dummy. Yup, went through the wall…
Now, that seemed broken when i first discovered it, but… the tooltip says, “if they are in the area of the owl”. Okay, fine, root trap, or any other cc roots other people might use. In pve this could also be useful if you have to move behind something to dodge an AoE from the boss, but still do damage. great!
Though, further reading of the tooltip, 90 (150 as BM and Surv) focus for 1 charge, need a minimum of 5 charges…? So, I need 450 focus spent to even cast this ability? thats 4 and a half bars of the base focus bar, what? Over 10 aimed shots (not including any filler arcane shots, or whatever).
(Now, when i started testing this I didn’t realize it charges up to the base 5 out of combat gradually. [I was in combat at the time of testing] and thought oh, my original argument was really stupid. Then, I realized, it doesn’t recharge to the base 5 in combat.)
Hm, well that sucks, so back to 450 focus just get to be able to use it again. At 0 stacks I did 1 million damage to a pvp dummy. Thats far too much damage for quite a unique yet, easy to avoid ability.
Why I’m mostly focused on MM, is because its what I play, but LoS is our big deal, and would like to see this changed for all classes but it would help MM the most. I know I’m a bit biased, but it would also help BM with their pet, and I suppose surv a bit too.
Here is my whole reason creating this, is, its not Sentinel Owl that needs changed. No, its the sub-talent bottom left of that Sentinel’s Perception. That needs to change to decrease the amount of focus needed to get a charge of the Owl by half. And, if needed to kinda make it a bit more “fair”? I guess, could increase it to 6 charge base needed to case it.
Thats my more than my 2 cents on a talent I don’t think anyone is talking about, but it is a really interesting talent that could make interesting plays in pvp, and make hunter do more damage in pve.
TL;DR:
Sentinel Owl’s sub talent “Sentinel’s Perception” needs changed to reduce the cost of focus needed per charge in half.
