That is how it currently exists, yes.
But with KC having even more damage bloated onto it, and KC can reset, pressing KC regardless of if you’re focused cap could be how the spec ends up playing.
That’s the entire reason you’d go Pack Leader over Sentinel. A stronger burst window centered around KC.
If kc doesn’t do more damage (and it most certainly won’t) than mongoose or bomb, this will never happen.
KC already resets as the spec. you don’t spam it now. tying an extra damage event to KC won’t encourage you to spam it.
there is NO stronger burst window centered around KC for pack leader.
This will depend on tuning. Even without immediate damage from procs, the moment KC itself does more than 75% of Raptor Strike’s damage, it will be preferable to spam over Raptor Strike until capped on TotS stacks, rather than being used only for Focus and Bloodseeker upkeep.
We’re not far from that even in the least KC-centric builds. Add Kill Command damage modifiers and other means of damage on KC not fed through other later manual actions (e.g., Quick shot or Pack Leader’s additions) and it becomes the more likely outcome unless KC’s damage is nerfed baseline (which would require compensatory talent changes to roughly 6 nodes across either tree) to avoid said outcome.
Now, is it likely to outpace a Mongoose after stack 3 any time soon? No. But Mongoose’s overall damage contribution isn’t just at X stacks; it’s the average of its damage per GCD over a given Mongoose Fury window. As such, even with Mongoose Bite we may see spenders (or, frequently see that Mongoose Fury window) pushed back even when Focus-capped for the extra value on reset until TotS is capped.
Feels like the devs used all their criativity to design the Monk, Warrior, Paladin, Mage, trees and then decided to do hunters last when they were tired and overworked so they just baked a bunch of half a$$ed passives with uninspired game play and called it a day…being hunter main feels like fighting against blizzrd to play the game despite the quality of your class design feels bad
Dump sentinels, add the mortar team
spamming KC wastes pack coordination procs, which wastes frenzied tear chances and howl extensions. you are talking about an imagined situation
Oh I didn’t think of a mortar team.
I’d MORTAR COMBAT all up in that.
Id would fit with the dwarf theme of the xpack to. You know, one of the other hunter races lol
Pack Coordination stacks twice and only applies starting from either your second or every other Kill Command. It therefore takes at least 3 KCs, just as per Tip of the Spear, to cap.
Which is exactly the case I already pointed out at which you’d be forced to use Raptor/Mongoose even when Kill Command might have higher direct damage per use than either.
No, it takes two Kill Commands. Per Pack Assault. Kill Command causes your next Kill Command to apply Two Stacks of VH. Consuming VH is intended to give you two stacks of PC.
- Use KC (this prepares your next two KC to also use VH)
- You have empty time here assuming KC isn’t reset.
- When KC is up next, you use it (if you don’t overcap on Focus). This will trigger 1 Stack of VH, which immediately should give you two stacks of PC.
As it stacks and applies twice, any further KC without spending a stack of PC wastes PC, which wastes howl/ferocious tear/wastes Focus
bro as SV hunter ,is alight am go pack leader and spam KC .it is what it is ,i bet you the tree are design be how many people plays each classes or something there no reason for hunter tree and classes to be this bad for 2 expansions they legit cba what we do or say so at this point is like shouting to the void endless ideas endless posts about the same and it all gets ignore so moving on just play the broken one and hope one day a person would look at the hunter post and probably care until then play broken stuff do big numbers both sentinel and pack leader are bootybay
Was this English?
This is my favorite post.
I literally couldn’t stop laughing when I was reading the sentinel talents for the first time. Talk about a boring, passive, and non-thematic tree.
The entire tree can be summarized to: “your attacks have a chance to deal arcane damage and sometimes you summon an owl”
Okay, I’ll play pack leader, but you can’t expect me to be sober about it.
Some hunter cynics would say the class design is so bad it’s driving the player base to substance abuse.
Personally I feel like if they made the static ground targeted capstone ability “Lunar Storm” mobile that could follow the primary target on activation, it could be a lot better. I mean, it is an owl flying around right? shouldn’t it be able to reposition?
(similar to how a balance druid’s Fury of a Elune beam will slowly follow a target).
Right now the ability is too at the mercy of tanks needing to reposition on pulls and the hunter not having full control of where the ground targeted ability ends up since bombs are a key part of the rotation and need to go out. You’d just need to hope it lines up.
Then there’s the problem of a large AOE ability potentially breaking CCs so you’d have to address that . right now bombs aren’t a problem with a skilled hunter that can aim them so the cone blast doesn’t affect anything else.
In any case, I’m not particularly impressed with this tree. Seems like a lot of passive RNG damage.
It’s not bad to me? Interesting pull from arcane magics and I like the lunar aspect of this tree quite a bit. I think I could get back closer to Elune under this spec. It could be a little more thematic and lean into that more though IMHO considering dark ranger is definitely leaning into she who shall not be named.
Where’s our feedback thread? Was this supposed to be released yet?
i’m sure the feedback thread will probably end up happening on the alpha page? not sure
I just need sentinel to change the visual of bombs and the grapple so I can be a nature girlie.
