Like now, on the current HC servers, you can choose to move to an Era server at any moment.
In the same vein, you could have the option to move from an SF HC server to an HC server at any time, but never back.
The SF server should stay SF for eternity, even in 60 absolutely.
So hereās my takeā¦
Blizzard is a business.
Hardcore addon was popular to the point they noticed the chance to create a niche service.
SF or SSF is a part of that niche that Blizzard chose to leave out, seeing it didnāt gel with their idea of ācreate a large and supportive population base for your massively multiplayer gameā.
IF people are citing the popularity of HC as reason for SSF being possible, then those SSF people NEED to be playing the Official HC server. The reason HC addon was noticed was that a LOT of people were playing it, people who were sitting on the sidelines saying āOh hey, iād like to play HC but a different way⦠how about you create the thing i want?ā⦠those people got ignored because they were too few.
IF people want SSF/SF on their own servers, you NEED to make HC Official so populous and successful that Blizzard looks over and says āOh hey, thereās enough people within the HC community who want this thing, I think we can afford to give them their own server.ā
Seeing that some advocates for SF/SSF servers are NOT playing HC Official, but instead sitting on the sidelines, and thereās about three or four folks asking for separate servers on the forums⦠you donāt have the numbers.
Am I glad weāre getting an SF mode in HC? Sure.
Do I want it to be labelled on characters and create some kind of class warfare bollocks in this video game? Absolutely not. You play your way, it makes you proud. If you need to tell everyone about it, you donāt deserve it.
There is nothing stopping you from just doing this yourself.
lol im going to get hc pvp before you get ssfā¦
might as well just play offline and IRC with other enthusiasts and share thoughts on your favorite type of soda cracker (salted vs unsalted debate rages on!) or who your favorite new Jeopardy host is
Sf is a lot more likely than pvphc. I believe they said sf was planned, and likely will be a thing you opt into on the current hc realms. Like the soul of iron buff.
Also, just keep your pvp flag on, at all times. Iām sure youāll find hc wpvpā¦
I agree.
This makes sense.
However I do believe the HC servers have already shown success, and I do believe now is the time for SF to be implemented (as a server).
I have paid subscription since the launch of august, but it simply makes no sense to continue to pay for the sub just in hopes that someday SF will have a server.
Farewell, young shaman.
You will be missed.
Why not create a SF guild/community using the current servers. Iām guessing thereād be plenty of players whoād join in.
Oh my.
Youāre asking him to share space with a dirty non-sf player like me.
Oh the humanity!
Most people donāt care that you wear a hairshirt and sacrifice better than others. Opie apparently believes ultimatums work with Blizzard. Let him. Rest of us will keep having fun and not worry that other people playing the game āwrongā is offensive.
Asking because not too long ago we all shared a server with regular era players. While there were some issues, we figured it out.
I donāt see them creating servers for every niche of this niche. The HC server will see a big shift in population (at least for a while) this coming week. Why not wait and see how that affects players first before wanting to split off. Positive thinking here, but it might get better soon for players who enjoy the different variations of hardcore. Less worries about solo tagging etcā¦
This is a good suggestion!
The reason this doesnāt cut it for me personally, is that WoW (an mmorpg game) is all about the world and the visual aspect of seeing other people run around in this world that you know are playing the same game as you.
Except⦠they arent.
Some of them like griefing, some are pvp focused, some just want to collect pets and others want unique mounts.
Some like to raid casual and some like raiding hardcore⦠and some, youll find, just like to grind and dont want to raid at all.
Yeah, have you ever tried doing HC on a normal realm? I have and for years-. Thereās a reason HC addon users choose the RP servers, as they were low pop. Other players not caring if they die or not can be rather disruptive for HC playing to put it mildly. Plus the PvP enabling from Holiday events and Quests ⦠'nuff said.
I love that the official HC server is limited to the lowest common denominator, but I would love to see some buffs or something. Not only for SSF - SF but also for no pet Hunters/Warlocs, IronMan, naked, ⦠lots of different challenges. I fail to see why SSF/SF should be given the special treatment.
They are playing the same game as you and I. They just approach it a little differently. How could we know what they are allowing themselves to do and how does what they do affect us? There arenāt as many playing variations as there are playing it the death = start over only rule for sure. If you saw me in passing, how would you determine what variation Iām playing?
Koki doesnāt do dungeons but will group for group elite quests and uses the mail for additional storage on an alt.
My mage does any type of grouping but will only trade conjured items.
My warlock and priest play by server rules.
My horde hunter is SSF.
You wouldnāt be able to notice any differences in their play styles if you see them in the world. If you grouped with one for a dungeon, theyād be polite, do their best to help the group succeed, etc. I donāt think youād know the difference unless you asked.
Iām not sure how having a server dedicated to a certain variation will make your game better.
And I still try an IronMan on one of mine. Itās slow, and I decline all group invites and offers for help in a polite way. Iāll still throw you a buff,or a heal if the situation warrants this.
This you could see btw. by insppecting me; youād probably wonder why I was dressed in white/grey gear only.
I like the official servers, and the fact that a death is a death, but we can still do s“additional challenges.
Yep, thereās a lot of challenges we can make for ourselves. Itās like a canvas with the sky and ground painted already, we just need to create the details.
Iād figure youāre playing an Ironman challenge.
Since people are so opposed to Self Found being on itās separate layer/server what if as a middleground compromise we do this instead.
Self-Found Players cannot group up with non Self-Found Players.
Also add a separate LFG channel so self-found groups can be made easier for elite quests and dungeons.
If I were playing the official mode Iād be more likely to group if they are playing the same rules.
Iām not opposed to a server/layer for this, but I donāt believe this will be a thing.
Yeah I would prefer it being on an entirely separate server but I think this would be a middleground compromise between those would want it seperate vs those who fear the server populations will be too small if you split up the hc community.
This way they are still all āaroundā each other but you donāt have Self-Found characters running dungeons with peoples twinked out alts.
The sentiment I get, is that the majority of those interested in SF, would indeed prefer it to be its own server. And that there is a loud group of players that arenāt actually that interested in SF, that donāt want SF to have its own server, to force them to play alongside them so to not āsplit the communityā.
The community is already split amongst several versions and realms, and plenty of players that would play if there was an SF server, are not playing at all.
The appeal for many of those is indeed precicely to get away from the economy vibe of those servers. It is indeed necessary to āsplitā to get an experience which is different.
I hope Blizzard creates an SF server for SF players, and does not compromise a middle way
