I vaguely remember the forums having plenty to say when Night Elf mages and Tauren paladins became a thing.
And Gnome priests… Gnome fans were eagerly nodding and rubbing their hands “yes yes yes, gimme healer class” while everyone else went “HOW DARE YOU?”
That said: Night elf and Draenei warlocks are a new level of “WTF???”
