Secret mastermind behind the Cosmic War (Amirdrassil finale update)

No, not appearance, but there is some connection to the Keepers and Aspects and whom they gave powers too.

  • Khaz’goroth empowered the Black Dragon Neltharion, with dominance over the earth and the deep places of the World.
  • Golganneth empowered Hodir and Thorim with power of the raging storms, seas and lightning, often we see with the Fel and this uncontrollable force.
  • Norgannon was a master of all magic, given power to Loken and the Blue Dragon Malygos.
  • Eonar empowered Freya, Alexstrasza and Ysera with all the aspects of Life and Spirit.
  • Aggramar imbued Tyr with strength and courage.

Then things like Sargeras’s flaming sword, to being a titan so easily corrupted when he saw a world soul completely succumbed to the void, and even going on a “Crusade.”

Also, keeping in mind that most titan lore was written many years ago, before so much depth went into this cosmic war stuff, multiple pantheon, etc…

Each Titan studied a different cosmic power is interesting idea but Golganneth based his powers on the elements of lightning and water, Khazgoroth has powers based on fire and earth. Only Amanthul and Norganon have pure Order-based powers. Eonar on Nature, Sargeras on Fel we also have Amithus Light titan from hearthstone, she’s not canon.

Your theory is very possible and may still work, Titans are extremely vulnerable to other forces. Still in the core of the earth, they absorb the energy that currently prevailed on the surface of the planet. Even as full-fledged titans, they can absorb other powers easily, look at Sargeras taking a bath in twisting nether energies. They have no problem with it even with their opposite. (if this had been a light absorb shadow scenario everything would have explode immediately).

I’m sure we’ll see a full-fledged Void or Light Titans in the future, but I dont think they are in our pantheon

I have a few problems with this theory.

first of all, the Order isn’t very get along with life. Titans want controls them in almost every aspect.

The Shadowlands were created by the First Ones. Light and Void tried to invade them but failed. Why life would be successful.

Elementals also often give Nature a hard time

You made me curious about the analogy of Elune as an inexperienced Shadow user. The theory is interesting, but it has many holes.

If I recall, the First Ones have a hand with every cosmic force, not just Death.

Plus, the only Light invasion we see was retaliation in Revendreth for a failed Dreadlord infiltration of the Light. Nathrezim pushed, Naaru pushed back. As for the Void, I’m don’t know why the Void invaded Bastion, and I wish we knew more about that.

Update: a closer look at the world’s trees. Warning! Below may find spoilers from the next patch.

The world trees are incredibly interesting sources of many powers I would like to focus on today. For the record I will mention purposes and abilities of every tree we know rn.

Nordrassil main purpose was to mask power of the new well. It is also spiritually connected to its guardians, and had ability to share blessing. Remember, even if the night elves received dragons gifts, it was not cast directly on them, but on the tree.

Vordrassil was planted in Northrend to stop saronite growth. This means trees had ability to stop Void corruptions. Even after the tree was cut, it did a great job. Enough for Saronite to stop spreading completely.

All we know about Shaladradssil in Val’sharah is that, it was used to imprison Satyrs.

Several druids on the Fyrrak side claim to have lost their nature powers after the burning of Teldrassil. This suggests that some druids draw their powers directly from trees.

To sum it up, they are a link to the Dream, can mask other sources of energy, serve as a prisons, help life develop in the areas surrounding them and buff the powers of druids.

I belive world tree have another hidden purpose. In Norse mythology, Yggdrasil connects various worlds with her branches and roots. In game we see how all trees are connected to the Emerald dream, from which you can easily get to different parts of Azeroth through portals.

I belive Dream abilities are much greater than that. Just like Yggdrassil connected different worlds, Emerald dream connects kingodms of all cosmic forces. Of course we have a connection with Gardens of Life and Shadowlands. Creating the Rift of Alm gave them access to the energy of Twisting Nether and Void. The Dream is partly a Keeper outpost/facilities, so it’s obvious that they fused Order energy with this place. Titans even createt Kepper Freya, the most important being of Order only below Titans to study and defend this place. We don’t see only union with Light, but since Elune rules Dream and she created Na’ru, I’m sure in the future we find more information about Elune, then we will find more clues.

My personal observation. The pillars of light above the Dream treetops look identical to the Light attacking Revendreth in Sinfall.

This shows us Dream allowing or simplify access to other dimensions.
The green dragon scenario showed how ED allows us to bypass physical obstacles to getting to other places and vice versa. This place would be a great starting point for exploring other cosmic realms.

This isn’t the end of similarities.

Underneath Yggdrassil we have a magical well of knowledge (in this case, the well of powerful Arcane magic) which is guarded by three female figures responsible for destiny. These women are Elune, Eonar and Winter queen (please Blizzard! tell us her real name!) who represent Norns in the world of Warcraft.

Elune creates life in her dimension, Eonar is the only one present in reality, who leads us until the time of death, and at the end, Winter Queen takes care of souls after death. This may even refer to the threads/chains of destiny that Sylvanas wanted to break.

The newest tree Amirdrassil probably become biggest Life manifestation on Azeroth. It provides a connection between the Dream and Ardenweald and allowing for an easier transition between twin dimensions (We have Ardenweald NPC in new patch) and directly connects Azeroth with Shadowlands after veil was closed. Located on the dragon ilses, it will be protected by the most powerful species on the planet, which eliminates the trees greatest weakness. Even all trees were powerful and and work great, they couldn’t defend themselves.

The trees inhabitants also allude to Yggdrassil. Aviana representing eagle Veörfölnir, or Malorne representing the four deers. (In Norse mythology, they trying to reach the leaves at the top of a tree, which we can find the symbolism of Malorne as Elune’s lover trying to touch the starry sky where she lives.) Fyrrak is a Nidhogg dragon/snake that tries to devour the tree.

Spoiler alert from Data Mining!

His true strength isn’t yet known, but people found an interesting clue on PTR. One of the icon talk about Amirdrasill bestow blessing on 6 dragons.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wowhead.com%2Fnews%2Fnew-10-2-spell-hints-at-the-future-of-amirdrassil-and-dragon-aspects-spoilers-335005&psig=AOvVaw07BE8EomGjo-WDFS-Un0tl&ust=1696768612127000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CBIQjhxqFwoTCJiDpuX544EDFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE

This time the new world tree will bless the Aspects. Amirdrassil literally showed dragons uno reverse card. For me, this is final proof that the Dragons moved from TeamTitan to TeamLife. Elune and Winter Queen will probably thanks dragons for helping defend Amirdrassil in form of new powers. All Aspects will become even stronger, by gaining powers of the two new Pantheons. And let’s not forget, the Aspects haven’t lost all titans powers. Alexstrasza still heal with his breath, while Nozdorumu still sees glimps of the future.

Alexstrasza, Merithra and Ebyssian will gain new abilities from life:

Alexstrasza - a greater understanding of life and death. In addition to healing, her breath instantly separates soul from the body
Merithra - she become strong enough to open portals to Ardenweald like she does with the Dream.
Ebbysian - apart from rocks, he gain power over the earth and plants from which life grows. Maybe some sun related powers?

Vyranoth, Nozdormu, and Kalec will gain powers from death:

Nozdormu - time often represents the end, in this case death. Maybe with shadowlands knowledge he will stop the moment of his own death. His death was in the will of the Titans, if he chooses a different side, he doesn’t have to follow the true timeline guarded by Aman’thul.
Vyranoth - ice has always been associated with death in wow. So maybe she will gain some magic of the Lich king runes.
Kalec - magic is a dangerous weapon that can easily take life. There are hundreds of wizards from different worlds in SL, who can help him improve abilities and expand magic knowledge.

I know, I know, poor examples, I came up with them quickly.

What I find interesting is that the other gods of the Cycle may join in blessing the dragons. Maybe Primus will give his powers to Nozdorum since he himself can predict the future, the Winter Queen calls him a dear friend so she will ask him for help? Or An’she will finally shows up herself to Ebbysian and give him his powers. Now the Aspects have powers from three cosmic sources: Order, Life and Death. Which is Elune’s plan to create Universe, Azeroth and their residents a perfect balance beings.

Let’s be honest, Titans gave dragons powers but they’re never be interested in them. They only want World Soul. Unlike Elune who’s obviously worried about them. (she save Ysera from Nightmare and choose Malygos to be a new blue aspect)

Wrathion and Vyranoth fly together to recruit other dragons to defend Amirdrassil. If they succeed, additional dragonflights will join to support the Life side.

Below you find my less important thoughts:

Repeating Ardenweald campain I’ve noticed how this dimension work differs in its governance structure, where original inhabitants seem to hold a highest position. Most often in SL, it is the souls of mortals who take over more important roles, while local residents perform minor or side jobs.(Life > death)Here, fairies and Vorkai have the ultimate power while mortal souls have no duties, can turn into random animals and do whatever they want.

An extremely important fact that I missed was the Power of the Heart of the forest (the combined magic of death and nature), which made the Maw inescepable. This somewhat reminds me of Shaladrassil ability to keep Satyrs in check. Even Nordrassil and Vordrassil, which were able to keep various sources of power (Void, Arcane) in check and hidden. In this case the Heart of the Forest do it, with Zoval and his death magic

So Primus used the tree’s power to create runes that blocked Jailer’s powers. This magic was so powerful, despite countless number of souls and four siligis, Jailer still couldn’t free himself and he had to pull Oribos into the Maw to get Arbiter orb.

If we want to go into even deeper/crazier speculations, I noticed a funny detail. Tyrande High Priestess dress had blue patterns on it, that looked suspiciously like the prison runes on Jailer. Elune helped Priumus imprison Zoval? :scream:  :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Like any theory in general. We simply try to connect puzzles that often do not fit together

Me too, buddy… :pensive: This is probably one of many Shadowlands cut contents

You don’t have to worry about it, many of this points are still nice ideas.

This is a really interesting point. Maybe this change in the one true timeline alert Aman’thul and because of that Titans will return to Azeroth

Blizzard probably forgot about it too. Man, I’m still mad about Drust cut content

Update : Three new books, dragons rebelion, and Life/Elune role in the world soul saga.

In Emerald dream we got new pieces of lore in the form of three stories that may add new interesting facts to my theory.

The first book tells the story of the Green Dragon Erinethra and her journey beyond the Storming Sea. On the West of Kalimdor is believed to be Avaloren, inhabited by Titan Forged heretics and new unknown dragonflight created by Erinethra. I wonder about the choice of the green dragon as the one that will fly to that place. We have black dragons that are much more durable, or blue dragons that could bypass storm barriers with their magical knowledge. However, it was the Green dragon most closely associated with Nature that founded a new flight in the unknown corner of the world.

This is a big hint that we will get a new Life story there. Why did Erinethra go west or why the other dragons have dreams about her? Perhaps it was Elune who showed Erinethria specyfic direction and send dreams of her to the rest her family. I wonder what kind of relationship new flight has with titan rebels if they live next to each other.

I have two theories about this. First, Elune wanted to free dragons from full titans propaganda, believing that turning them into only beings of the Order would harm balance of the planet. Titans probably had much more power than Elune at that time, so she tried to save at least a small part of the dragons. Second, something bad was happening on the other side of the world, so Moon goddes sent her representative there to help stop it.

The second book tells us more about the nature of Dream itself. It assures us that Dream existed before Titans arrived. This place has connections with other planes of reality and we got our first hints about the Pantheon of Life. We are also reminded that time works completely differently here, so perhaps Nozdormu see the ways of Time from a new perspective instead of just seeing the polished Aman’thul timeline. Beyond Azeroth itself, the dream has link to other planets. So technically, thanks to it, we can reach other planets without help of spaceships and portals. But why traveling too deep into a dream is impossible and causes immediate sleep?

Although the dream is a great maze of reflections of many worlds, you cannot go to the dreams of other planets. Maybe you need the permission of a higher being for this or they just too far away from each other. They also mention life and death as a sisters, which obviously refers to Elune and Winter Queen. But winter queen is only a member of pantheon she’s not represent Death as a whole or maybe she has more power than we know. Most interesting sentence from this book is the writer’s remark that they are touched by other cosmic forces. They’re once again trying to show inhabitants of Azeroth as a beings of Balance, that Elune strives for.

The third book is a real explosion of lore! We finally know what kind of relationship Eonar had with Elune, ( poor Malorne ) but we also have final proof that Eonar is the spy of life! The book tell a story of the first world tree Elun’Ahir, which was given by Elune to Eonar to help fight the Black Empire. Which also confirms my theory about the cleansing power of the world trees. In the story, we hear how tree doing a great job until Papa Aman’thul ripped it out. I must admit my mistake here, Life and Order are not on the best of terms. However, Eonar, ignoring Aman’thul wishes, hiding from him the existence of Elun’Ahir roots remaining on Azeroth finally show her true face.

This is really, really big news. Eonar choses Life over Order, not following the wishes of the head of the panthoen. I don’t think this means that Aman’thul hates nature, after all, he agreed to create two Aspects of Life, so he was probably just afraid that Life would get out of his control. ( remember timeline when titans lost Azeroth because of uncontrolled wildernes) He tolerates Nature in limited numbers. A tree from the goddess of Life is completely different than two pets of one of the Keepers. I’m puzzled by the mention of the mysterious Guardians who devoted their lives to defending the roots. Could they have been titan heretics who chose the side of life/Eonar by opposing the titans? Maybe thats why they are so storng and can fight back Odyn exspeditions. Roots of Elune’ahir give them powers at the same time Freya sabotage Odyn crusade.

From these three books we can conclude one thing: dragons are slowly moving away from the side of Order. A new dragonflight living in forbidden lands, green dragon questioning the ideology of the Titans, and the myth of the first world tree and the dark deed of Aman’thul. This, together with the propaganda and Odin’s terrible behavior, leads to the conclusion that we will no longer be in a neutral/friendly relationship with the Titans and will increasingly show the narrative of Life as our best ally.

The final straight will be the confrontation between Vyranoth and Tyr. Let’s not forget that after defeating Fyrakk, the ice dragon will not magically forget his hatred for titans (even if she forgot about it in the case of aspects) and will probably give us an ultimatum. We’ve already seen quite a beef between her and Odyn.

So what is the future of the dragons?

As we know, dragons the most powerful race on the planet become inseparable with Amirdrassil. Now this tree will bless them with new powers. Of course, they will defend this tree no matter what, but on the other hand, Aman’thul doesn’t like uncontrolled life especialy magic glowing trees, Vyranoth is on our side now, so Alexstrasza certainly chose the Primalists over the will of the pantheon, so conflict between dragons and titans is inevitable, It would also be strange if Aspects weren’t be related with the plot of the new saga. They regained their OP powers for some reason and again become the guaridan of Azeroth, also Iridikron still standing next to Aunt Xal’atah so of course they should come after him, or at least Vyranoth. What about Black dragons? If we gonna explore underground they but be present, Anduin is back so of course Wrathion will be nearby. Nozdormu/Murozond plot is mostly falt of the Void, I’m sure Merithra gonna want meet her distant cousins in Avaloren. And of course Alexstrasza and her betrayer of Order. I belive in Tyr questline when void minion show him Alexstrasza abandoned Order they really mean she chose betrayed them for Life not Void. Void just twisted that vision.

Elune, Xal’atah and Alleria.

Elune has been teased for something big for so long, but she’s never really used, I really hope they won’t end her story after 10.2. Especialy she’s now more active than ever. On Blizzcon we received many clues that could reveal her future role.

Look at the crescent moon is featured on Xal’atah cheek tattoo. Don’t tell me her eyes dont excacly like night warrior eyes/ darkshore moon skybox of cousre in more purple colors. She calls her very disrespectfully The Upstarr goddes, which was one of her most interesting dialogues in Legion. Cosmic void in Abberus looks so similar to Elune magic. And of cousre An’shul trinket foreshadow future An’she plot.

The next exspansion called Midnight screams to me the theme of night. This clever dudes literally called patch 12.0 a Midnight. If Blizzard wanted more Void themed name, they could have given it a more old gods title, instead they name it after the middle of the night time. The Developes spoke of the fight for Sunwell and the unification of all elves. Which would fit why the Dragon Ilses are now so close to Quel’thalas. (Amirdrassil is probably the most powerful source of power on Azeroth right now. It will be strange if void forces simply ignore it or WE don’t use the tree power to fight back.) So maybe, when orcs have clans and Humans have Kingdoms, Elves will create some type of union?

Alleria’s new outfit looks less like Void elves but more like of the priestess of Elune. It would be really interesting if Elune somehow interrupt in Alleria spreading corruption. I want to see more races related to Elune. Developers talked about some competition between Xa’latah and Alleria, so perhaps Elune will help us stop Void’s plans.

I can’t wait to play Guardian of the Dream when we probbably see more clues and evidences. I want to see more Life vs Void stuff.

Xal’atath used to be an Eye attached to a Dagger. In otherwords she is possibly Mu’sha.

This would mean one of Azeroth’s own Void-corrupted Eyes is challenging us.

I dare say the Embrace defeating her is what led to Mu’sha falling into Black Empire Territory and being captured after throwing a tantrum over losing Lo’sho which would later be known as the Tear of Elune.

In that case Hallowfall’s Crystal might contain An’she.

If Xal’atath’s goal is to corrupt Azeroth then she would simply need to breach the Forge of Souls in Icecrown but since she is heading into Caverns where that Light Crystal is it is likely she is focused on reuniting with her Brother and seizing control over the Naaru in general using him.

“At the Hour of her Third Death she ushers in our coming.” Considering the Nathrezim also mentioned their own coming into the Void Lords’ territories if Xal’atath’s Realm is the Void then once she is dead the Nathrezim will claim the Void for themselves turning it into the Shadow while An’she’s Realm turns into the new Void.

Of course in order to stop the Shadow the Night Warrior might make Alleria into the new ruler of Mu’sha’s Realm to circumvent this turning it from the Void into the Night one would hope. Or she might make Alleria into the Night Warrior and have her implant Elune into Xal’atath(and completely taking over the Eye once Mu’sha transfers herself to her Void-corrupted brother An’she) and once An’she and Mu’sha flees the Crystal(which in this theory would be Zereth Lumen turned by Xal’atath into Zereth Nox) take over it and the Naaru while keeping it’s new name Zereth Nox.

The Light becomes The Night(with Zereth Lumen becoming Zereth Nox) with the old Void remains the same(though Zereth Umbra becomes Zereth Vacuus after An’she takes over). Without Light the Shadow cannot exist.

And yet… it should be possible to turn Void into Day(turning Zereth Vacuus into Zereth Die). Kyrestia must take An’she’s place once we deal with him and Kleia must take Kyrestia’s place and if Pelagos is any indication Kleia will take on a Yellow Coloration turning Bastion into the Capital of the Light itself causing Zereth Mortis to churn out 3 Zereths to account for the new Cosmic Realms.

Bastion becomes the Capital of the Light tied to the new Zereth Lumen(made from the original Zereth Mortis which was clearly Golden Light-aligned when we visited it), Revendreth becomes Capital of the Shadow tied to the new Zereth Umbra, Ardenweald becomes the Capital of the Twilight tied to the new Zereth Crepusculum and Maldraxxus becomes the Capital of Death tied the new Zereth Mortis.

An interesting theory don’t you think?

Mu’sha is definitely Elune. But what if Xal’atah is the kidnapped/corrupted Blue Child? The eye in the blade also have a blue color, which why the iris of her elven form so resembles the moon. This is the spirit of Lo’sho trapped in the body of a mortal.

What if we go even further and say that this crystal is really An’she lost heart itself? If this is indeed a heart, it surely belongs to someone the size of a planet or at least Titan level being.

If khadgar telling the truth and Elune created Na’ru, I don’t think she will sit useles while her creations are enslaved.

this fits the theme of the next expansion. Midnight comes over Sunwell, turning the rest of the quel’talas into the realm of Shadows.

I don’t think Eternal ones would agree to this, although Amirdrasill presence on Azeroth should make them more aware of what’s going on on our planet. The Void once attacked the bastion and was banished by them, so Shadowlands have the needed knowledge to stopped next Void invasion

Other than that, I really like this theory. I hope that the Dreadlords, as you mentioned, will seriously messed up Xal’atath and our plans.

Lo’sho according to lore is a Tear not an Eye. Xal’atath was an Eye and called Elune an upstart “goddess” deliberately using quotation marks in her use of the word goddess specifically(not putting quotation marks anywhere else in the sentence she calls Elune an upstart “goddess”) to insinuate that she sees Elune as a fraud(despite also seeing her as a great enemy) which is not something Lo’sho would say about Mu’sha.

Furthermore Xal’atath calls the Naaru beloved brethren who have wandered from the true path.

Is it too hard to imagine the Night Elves and Tauren having separate Moon Goddesses with the Night Elven one reigning supreme after overthrowing the Tauren’s Moon Goddess casting her down(with the help of the Blue Child) following her literal Red Eyed Tantrum over losing the Earth Mother’s Tear(imagine the Blue Eye literally turning Red with Rage over losing her mother’s Tear) leaving her at the mercy of the Void?

According to tauren myths, it is the tear of the Earth Mother.
In Night Elf myths, it is the child of the white lady.
I remember that one Draenei simply called it a big crystal.

As you say, Xal’atah calls the Na’ru brothers. We know from Legion who created them/is their mother. This is the biggest clue for me. Since she calls Naru family, she must be related to their creator.

But if this is true, why do Tauren have a such a good relationship with Cenarius, the son of goddess who overthrew their goddesses?

I believe the red moon is caused by tortured and abused Life, not rage. The color black symbolizes the fury of the moon (hence the dark color after burning teldrasill) and red is more associated with death than Void. However, maybe the red come from the Old Gods catching and torturing her?

Drust is really interesting race and I have some theories about them.

I think Drust is a failed Yogg-saron experiment. Namely, they’re his first unsuccessful attempt to create the curse of flesh. This would explain why titanforged suddenly found themselves between life and death cycle and why they look like a mix of undead and Vyrkul

However, we probably won’t learn more about them until Blizzard decides to include them in the main story

The drust were Vyrkrul who made Kul’tiras their home for generations. Than the gilneans that would become the Kul’tirans later on, landed there, made war with the drust and came out on top

Actually the Gilnean settlers simply started settling. That act alone was provocation enough for 90% of the Drust to declare genocidal war on them. The Winter Queen makes her own comments about the Drust while she expels them from her realm. She says she almost pities them because they were supposed to be guardians and stewards of nature and instead sought to dominate and twist it. They failed at it and are forever trapped in a state of being neither alive nor dead. Trapped in Thros, part of the Nightmare, for all eternity as a consequence of their arrogance and abuse of the cycle.

It’s why they were in Ardenweald. They seized upon the thinning of the veil by Sylvanas to force their way into Ardenweald hoping to use the grove of awakening to be able to escape their curse and truly return to life.

death stop existing if life stop existing, death breaks down thanks to missing souls and the loss of anima, because souls are not created in death but in life.

We just had an expansion where the entire system of the Shadowlands falls apart if none of the four core ‘realms’ get souls, aka Anima.

Without life, the Shadowlands falls apart.

Also I just noticed that I responded to a 3 month old post.

I wrote about this at the beginning of my theory. Relationship between Shadowlands and Life reminds me of relationship between Argus and Demons. One side subordinated the other to accelerate regeneration of their agents. The soul of Argus speeds up rebirth of demons, Ardenweald speeds up rebirth of wild gods. What’s more fascinating they used their opposite powers to do that, very interesting parallel

For me permadeath of the wild gods in Ardenweald is complete stupidity. Just let God Souls go to Lifelands but their return on material plane take an unimaginably long time. So lost souls won’t be able to come back for the rest of wow story. This doesn’t break the lore and stop make Nature vulnerable from two sides. With is very unfair from lore perspective. We even have a small hint about the living wild god after death in Ardenweald. Followers of named source of power, draw power from a certain God. When this God died followers lost all buffs and borrowed powers from him. We can see this in the example of Xe’ra and Turalyon. Furbolgs worshiping Ursoc in Azure Span still have their powers, which means that the essence of the bear still may exists somewhere.

I know these are probably my impossible wishes and I’m looking for evidence in regular sidequest but I still want them to do something about this big error/hole in the lore.

While anima is the main source for the creatures of the Shadowlands, I’d assume that the cosmic essence “Death’s” end goal is for a universe absent of life, much like we see in the End Time Dungeon.

I think more of the cosmic forces as being their own entity, and the Pantheons are just their generals in this eternal war.

Shadowlands, made the Death Pantheons too friendly and order driven, for having no shown influence from the Order Pantheon. IMO, the Death Pantheon should have all been malicious and uncompassionate in their goal of ending all life, or that should have been Zovaal’s main goal.

(Which just feels like more reason to hate the story.)

End of patch. Amirdrassil and his relationship with Azeroth? I think we finally know what woke up the dragon isles.

First of all, let me tell you straight, I was wrong about the origin of new aspectral powers. Shame on me. It was Azeroth who gave dragons new buffs and to be honest… It was a bit disappointed for me, I was hoped for new Aspects of Life and Death. Mentioning Azeroth soul at that cutscene was strange to me. We were in Emerald Dream and a few seconds ago we clearly saw blessing energy coming out of the heart of the world tree

Then I started thinking about it more deeply and realized. Without the tree, Aspects still wouldn’t have a chance to regain their powers. We see clearly how the power of Azeroth flows from the heart of Amirdrassil. Ingame spell giving the Aspectral powers back says about Amidrassil, not Azeroth. But Ebonhorn is talking specifically about worldsoul, so what’s going on here? How exactly is Azeroth related to Amirdrassil?

I belive Seed of Elune finally gave Azeroth a chance to break out of her coma. She needs this tree to regain full consciousness.

Think about it. This makes a lot of sense! In Legion, Sargeras hurt planet really badly, in BFA everyone was fighting for Azerite, in SL Jailer drained planet essence into Zereth Mortis. Nothing in the recent expansions made Azeroth feel better, when her soul was constantly being damaged,

Except for one thing.

Azeroth rapidly began to heal when the Queen’s gift was planted in the Emerald Dream. The dragon isles awoke when Amirdrassil was only a few months away from full bloom. Pure life energy is what was necessary to awaken her. Azeroth has absorbed entire Spirit in the past, so of cousre she needs this Element for growth. We also know that Spirit comes from Life.

Finally, she wasn’t pumped with Void essence or Order machines. The Spirit of life is what Azeroth needs to grow strong according to its own desires. Now there is a Tree on the planet that has the most of this stuff in history. So it can be said, that was Amirdrassil who started the awakening of dragon isles, sending visions among the childern of Azeroth, and what started the WorldSoul Saga.

The first time Azeroth did anything on its own was when Amirdrassil manifested on Azeroth. The aspect blessings are her first willful act. Not whispering to Magni, sending cloudly visions or passively opposing the Jailer. Azeroth did this mentally stable after a massive outburst of Spirit energy form Amirdrassil manifestation on the planet surface.

O belive Amidrassil will be the place from which we can most easily communicate with Azeroth. It was there that she created her own aspects and thanks to this place she was able to fully awaken. Maybe in the future this is where her NPC model will be created.

The tree itself is a huge win for Nature. They managed to plant it despite many adversities and set up the most powerful race on the planet and all the sentient races as its defenders. - All of Azeroth is against you - as Alexstrasza mentioned.

Tree did a great favor for Azeroth so perhaps she will return the favor. So what are Life’s next plans? Does Nature want to now rule over Azeroth? I don’t think that Elune, who is most closely associated with Azeroth of all the gods, doesn’t know what Azeroth really is. I’m sure Elune know the true identity of our planet. Elune knows that if she break free, no one will stand a chance against her, so for her own safety and what’s important her own nature, she allowed Azeroth to decide about her own fate without forced interference, wanting to maintain friendly relations. All other cosmic powers wanted to take plante by force. But Nature during the reign of the Kaldorei Empire, the peak of power Wild Gods and Elune They didn’t try to take over worldsoul .

The choice not to interfere with the fate of Azeroth is also ingrained in their nature. Life is constant change, even if you don’t like it, you have to accept it. Life really don’t like to take away free will unlike almost all other cosmic powers. Loa Q’onzu ( best part of exspansion) perfectly represents this ideology. Change in nature is inevitable even if you don’t like it, you cannot stop it. Let’s add the detail that Q’onzu has a very Elune aesthetic (silver colors, owl figure, moon in a crown), I won’t be surprised that his mistress also shares this point of view.

Azeroth probably hates Void and Fel for what they tried to do to her, Arcane is not her favorite either, after years of ordering and experiments, Death, although dependent on Life, She’s unlikely not forget dreadlords and Jailer, the only relatively neutral force for Azeroth is Light, whenever Life seems to be in best shape relationships with her.

As for the sheer power of Amirdrassil, I’m guessing it will be quite significant in Midnight expansion, where it will be extremely close to Sunwell. Amirdrassil has the power of Emerlad Dream and Elune, Shadowlands through the Winter queen, Arcane thanks to the vial from the well of eternity, and has a connection to Azeroth itself. It will be incredibly strange and awkward if we forget about such a powerful source of power right after obtaining it. Especially when the Life and Void war seems to accelerating.

At the same time, Sunwell is a combination of the power of arcane and light. If the unification of the elven tribes turns out to be true, perhaps well will also somehow gain the powers of the Void. If they did it with Life and Death, they can do it with Light and Void.

Which makes the north of the Eastern Kingdoms the center of almost all cosmic powers except Disorder. I predict that Amirdrasill will be part of Sunwell’s defense, perhaps that’s why Blizz planted tree the dragon isles. This is where we will regroup and start a counterattack against Void forces in Quel’thals.

Seriously, at that point you lost me. Death seemed pretty content to just do it’s own thing and stay in its own lane. The Void seems to want to consume everything, and Light may or may not be opposing it because it wants to lock everything into stasis. There’s no evidence of Life wanting to do anything specific, and where Order is concerned, the Titans were originally just trying to find more of their own and protect them from the Void. What that story is being retconned to, isn’t clear yet.

Oh, and I don’t think Disorder has any actual goals. Causing as much chaos as possible, I guess, ala Joker?

It’s hard to say for sure given the incomplete picture. Every cosmic power has it’s sympathetic figures and it’s bad actors (like Zovaal for Death). Aside from Void and Light, the rest seem to be doing what they were meant to do and trying to stick to their own lanes.

"It is an eternal tug of war between the cosmic forces of existence.

They constantly vie for power over each other but if one fell, all worlds would fall into chaos." - the completion text for the quest “In Agthia’s Memory” in Bastion.

Most of the Shadowlands was content with the Purpose, but a few, notably Zovaal, Sire Denathrius, and good chunk of Madraxxus’s Margraves, were pretty aggressive.

As far as we know, though if the Pantheon of Void/Shadow follows the pattern set by both the Titans and the Eternal Ones, there will be likely much more variation and nuance in their actual depiction than most imagine.

From what I’ve seen, there are also some conflicting motivations in the Light as well, with it’s primary point of aggression being conquest. Similar to Order, but whereas Order just wants control, Light seems to want to cover all things.

We can see these themes of conquest in the Army of the Light and the Lightforging in AU Draenor.

That’s what they say, though as more information comes out, it seems their plan is pretty much just to control everything that they can and “order” it.

Would make sense, but we actually know very little about it as a cosmic force beyond Sargeras and his Burning Crusade.

Pretty accurate.

I could be wrong, but my interpretation is that it’s all a part of the cosmic balance made by the First Ones.

Light and Void clash, creating Chaos (as mentioned in Chronicles origin of the Twisting Nether). This Chaos serves to keep Order in place so that it doesn’t control everything.

All the while, the cycle of Life and Death plays out in the midst of this (it may be more directly connected, but I’m still ironing out a ton of Shadowlands lore).

This is why Zovaal’s anti-Purpose philosophy aligns with his statement at the end of the Sepulcher of the First Ones, “a cosmos divided” - The First Ones made a system that actively keeps the cosmos from unifying in order to maintain a balance that Zovaal saw some issue with.

His plan was to use the Sepulcher and remake reality under his control, without these perceived flaws, by using the world-soul of Azeroth to power the Heart of Eternity.
