Season of Mastery Design Intentions, Part 2 of 2

i don’t know what server you played on, but it’s not like that where i played.
there’s always going to be a “best”. it doesn’t mean everything else is unviable.

Such a ridiculous thing to say. I could just as easily say, “ Go play Classic Era.”

And I was as #nochanges as anyone, but since that’s NOT their intention with SoM, they might as well do it right and try to appeal to as many players as possible, and making ‘meme specs’ more viable would do that.

Instead what they’ve crafted appeals to an extremely tiny player base of tryhard elitist sweat lords. SoM is going to be a spectacular failure.

we’ll just see about that. when SoM is full and bustling, I wonder what excuses you’ll have then. “just wait 2 more weeks, everyone will get bored eventually!!” i imagine

Dude if you don’t like the way classes are go play something else bro.

Then there should be no problem bringing other specs up to more on par.

ok, maybe we can try it for SoM 2 in 1-2 years, because what you are asking for is very complicated, much more so than you seem to think. it’s not happening 10 days before SoM starts.

You continue to say this, while ignoring the fact someone could say the exact same thing to you.

But this is the route Blizz has chosen. I merely pointed out why. But to be fair, it’s not just laziness. I’m assuming it’s the constraints imposed by the upper management. It seems to me this project was greenlit and forced to release in such a small timeframe that the ‘devs’ didn’t really have a chance to do any meaningful changes, even if they wanted to. Gotta release before FF14’s next expansion! So we get this half-assed nonsense that some people (like yourself) still eat up when it could have actually been something unique and different and interesting.

By the way, your argument that TBC class design is homogenized only demonstrates you have no idea what you’re talking about. There’s so many unique factors classes bring to the table in TBC. It’s an example of how to make more spec choices viable WITHOUT homogenization. What you’re talking about started in Wrath with their terribly flawed 'Bring the player, not the class’ design philosophy.

Making meme specs more viable has nothing to do with homogenization; it’s simply a matter of putting some effort into the process and finding creative ways to make bringing those specs less of a liability.

except you’re the people who are trying to radically change SoM into something else… not us. so no, we can’t really be told to “go somewhere else”, because we’re (about to be) playing something close to the exact game we want. hope this helps.

I’m not debating whether it’s happening now or not, all I said is that it’s more than possible to do without hurting anything.

the seeds of that started in TBC.
do TBC paladins have a taunt? yes or no? and if yes, how is that not homogenization?

What happened after tbc tho? Eventually we have retail today, because players like yourself ask for changes, but those changes lead to more changes. I absolutely know 100% what I am talking about and I am correct, YOU are incorrect. Blizzard is leaning towards my side, not yours. Do YOU are welcome to play another game

Thanks for clarity. Won’t waste my time, DOA.

They can. It’s called using the pre-patch/TBC talents and abilities. They fix all the issues, and the only argument people had was that it would make raids trivial. Well, they’re increasing difficulty which negates that complaint.

You just want to gatekeep and think it’s okay to tell someone they can’t play what they want.

Yes… they do…

Beta testing is a thing. If you played the game for more than 2 weeks you’d know what is wrong with specs, and the small changes to fix them without breaking everything else.

I never realized how much homogenization Vanilla had. Like…BOTH warlocks and mages cast spells. That’s crazy. And there’s like 3 classes that all have heals. Where does the homogenization end!!!

Durr, actually 4 classes have heals. Blizzard really phoned in class design with all this homogenization.
