Why thank you. I pride myself on being able to read nonsense.
100% a skill issue, warriors were crushing in Heat 3 this week. Get better gear / better raid comps
Warrior is in a weird place right now. The 6 piece bonus and a top tier weapon is mandatory, along with proper rotation, to be competitive. A lot of Warriors don’t have one or the other, but that will change soon.
Also, Warriors may start creeping up now that WCL excludes add damage (Hunters) and Rogues got a couple nerfs.
Getting a poop parse on a fight for doing it correctly instead of zugging is annoying. Granted I guess the endgame meta would have been ultra zugging cleave adds on top of boss but .
Not a parse Andy but I do enjoy getting them when I do well on a fight.
How about just don’t care if it’s broken for the top 100 players or so who would take advantage of it? Like who cares? If someone wants to play a class that’s the worst class in every other aspect of the game then let them
funny how every era raid has every class in it always
Technically there are all DPS specializations represented in Era raids, in the same way that there is even a Subtlety rogue present in SoD raiding.
But there are a grand total <2000 Parses over 2 weeks in Naxxramas from Elemental, Enhancement, and Retribution combined compared to 90,000 Warrior parses in the same time frame.
you thinking every spec has to be represented like they’re their own class is a retail mentality
On the contrary, complete specializations were done in The Burning Crusade.
Warriors, rogues, and mages were the only DPS specializations completed in classic era. It is easy to talk about whether or not spec viability is important when your main character is the one where all of your specializations are functional if not outsized.
If we were to take your logic to the conclusion of “Warriors should have a decent protection specialization and unviable arms and fury specializations,” would you still subscribe to that logic?
yeah, that’s when the retail disease started
I do not agree with you.
When considering all of the attunement and reputation systems that blizzard kept from Vanilla and expanded on, it is the closest expansion to vanilla in design as the game achieves without being vanilla itself.
I note that you did not answer the below question, so I would like to offer you another opporunity:
Isn’t that roughly where warrior already was? Fury was the only viable pve spec, you didn’t even tank as prot. And arms being carried to viability in pvp by other classes isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement.
You could tank as protection. Tanking as Fury-Prot is a threat generation consideration to raise the threat cap for rogues and mages while increasing the warrior’s own damage.
All three specializations are viable if not the best for tank or DPS roles.
You didn’t tank as fury/prot just for threat gen/self dps. Deep prot was just unnecessary, every talent below the 3rd row was just trash. You could spec fury prot and have dw bonus threat as an option and not lose anything compared to someone speccing far enough down for shield slam.
Arms has a NICHE in serious group pvp. And that was still heavily reliant on other classes to get it over the hump to being actually good. Play arms solo and let me know how viable it actually is. You guys are real quick to call arms viable in pvp but call hunter non-viable in pve despite having niche viability as the pull bot.
it was designed specifically for shamans then hunters
Let’s look at every class in SOD
Rogue
-Best single target and overall raid DPS
-Best or top tier PVP class (Kills almost every other class 100 to 0 in stunlock)
-Stealth allows bypassing a ton of things in the open world
-Low utility but at least has some (Opens lockboxes, locked chests, doors)
-Easy, quick soloing (Mutilate spam, sprint, stealth etc)
-Tank spec has poor AOE but great ST threat and highest DMG output of all tanks
-Easy, simple DPS rotation (Mulilate spam and envenom)
-Only negative is a bit of a lack of utility as far as buffs go (But IEA is still best physical armor reduction debuff)
Hunter
-Excellent single target DPS
-Excellent utility (Brings kings buff, absolutely mandatory on horde side)
-Best AOE DPS (Dungeon DPS king)
-Best soloer/leveler (Can do every thing in the open world)
-Best gold farming potential with the ability to clear entire dungeons solo as well as DMN Tribute runs
-Top tier PVP class in solo and group settings (Explosive trap hits 1.5k-2k+ damage on an uncapped amount of players at range, slowing down/stopping an entire raid in BGs with one or two hunters)
-Easy DPS rotation (Explosive trap and a few shots and then just stand there and autoshoot)
-Only negative is no tanking or healer spec
Druid
-Most versatile class in WOW (Has viable/great healing, tank and DPS specs)
-Great tank spec
-Great healing spec
-Top tier DPS spec with easy rotation
-Excellent dungeon damage with swipe
-Best support class in the game (Battle res, MOTW, wild strikes from feral, leader of the pack from feral, spell crit from boomkin, faerie fire armor debuff, off healing potential from boomkin if needed)
-One of the best solo classes (Healing + Bear form or cat form)
-One of the easiest leveling classes (Either as feral or boomkin, travel form, aquatic form)
-Only negative is that it’s a jack of all trades, master of none, but that’s the entire point of the class. Boomkin could be buffed, but you could easily just switch to feral and be S tier. Switching a spec to fix your character is of course MUCH easier than leveling and obtaining reputations and attunements on an entirely new character
Mage
-Top tier single target dps
-Top tier AOE
-Versatility of a healing spec
-Top 2-3 soloer
-Can solo entire dungeons for gold and boosting
-Ports, food and water
-One of the easiest classes to level with AOEing
-Best or second best gold maker
-Slightly bad in PVP, high skill cap but easy to kill for most classes. Good in group PVP
Warlock
-Great single target dps
-Best 5 target cleave DPS with shadowbolt
-Great tank DPS and best tanks for speed running
-Best solo PVP class with soul link
-Great utility with curses (Mandatory for curse of reck and elements), summoning, soulstones and healthstones, imp health, etc
-Great in dungeons
-Free mount
-Negative is they may not scale as well as other classes in DPS
Priest
-Most versatile healer, good single target heals and group heals
-Great DPS spec with a ton of utility
-Fort/spirit buffs
-Insane in PVP, shadow can kill any class quickly
-Great AOE DPS, great for dungeons
-Good soloers with shadow spec or disc/wand
-DPS spec doesn’t scale well, could use small buff
Shaman
-Insane in PVP, unkillable by many
-Great AOE DPS, good single target DPS
-One of the best healers with chain heal
-Great tank spec with amazing AOE threat, best dungeon tank
-One of the best utility classes with totems. Windfury, stat totems, threat buff for tanks, tremor totem, etc
-Great QOL with ghost wolf (even indoors), reincarnation, water walking and extra hearthstone
-Easy soloing and leveling
-Like other classes that can fulfill every roll they’re a jack of all trades master of none
Paladins
-Great/Best tanks
-Best healers
-One of the best solo in PVP with bubble and LOH
-Great in dungeons
-Free mount
-Best utility on the alliance side with blessings, also wipe protection
-Subpar DPS spec, should be buffed
Warrior
-Worst leveler in the game
-Worst solo/open world play in the game
-One of the worst solo PVP classes. Can be utilized in group situations well with a high skill cap, but only as glad stance. Arms is insanely underpowered
-Trash gold farmers
-Worst AOE DPS in the game
-Worst tank DPS in the game
-Good single target DPS, but not the best
When we really look at it overall, warriors are literally the worst class in SOD and it’s not even close
Those are not trash talents.
8 Second taunt cool down, reduced rage cost sunder, 3-5 seconds added to Shield Wall, 10% additional damage with 1-handed weapons, and Shield Slam are not trash talents.
You don’t need any of that. You generate enough rage by being hit that the rage cost reduction doesn’t matter. You don’t need taunt cd reduction for raids. The 1h wep spec is decent but so far down the tree. And shield slam is trash. Without getting massively buffed like it is in sod it does no damage and it’s only gain is the flat threat value. It’s a disappointing 31-point talent.
And since I forgot to comment on it. 3-5 seconds on Shield Wall in the standard context of a 30 minute cooldown, is not that big. We don’t take it even in SoD where we actually WANT to be deep prot and shield wall is only a 5 minute cooldown.
In classic these were all absolutely trash talents. Every guild used a fury prot warrior because deep prot warriors had horrible threat. You can go look at logs and verify this
There is a trap here in people considering anything that does not achieve maximum effect being trash or unviable as opposed to being suboptimal.
Enhancement shaman is unviable in era. It does not have enough mana to use abilities in order to do damage. The overall top rank Enhancement shaman over a 2:15 minute Patchwerk fight cast 19 abilities total.
7 Stormstrikes (That is all he had time for given that it is a 20 second cooldown for an extra attack.)
9 Frost Shocks (of the 22 he would have had time for.)
3 Searing Totems.
84% of his damage is Melee auto attacks and windfury. He would have been away from the keyboard for the fight and only lost 16% of his damage. That is unviable.
Classic Era warriors in PvE are not unviable in any specialization.
