Cherry picked data. Change the threshold to 1 day, because the 2 week range you gave didn’t take into account 3 (yes 3 hunter nerfs) that have gone out since. Also change it to 99th percentile, because noobs are irrelevant. Then change it to per second amounts, because who cares about some ‘normalized’ dweeb score based on averages.

And wow, at the high end of the game (all that matters) hunters are 5th dps. Only 5 dps higher than paladins.

And after todays nerfs go out, which is another 20 dps loss, we will be behind warlocks, fire mages, and enhance shamans bringing us to 7th dps.

Oh wow, it’s almost like Druids are relevant and needed for once instead of stacking 15 warriors in a Raid…whats your point? Warriors will always have a wild strikes nerd.

Can we give hunters something somewhat INTERESTING then? Buff melee and lone wolf they’re hardly any different than vanilla at this point.

Thanks for the changes! Smart balance tuning on the whole. Hunter pets were obviously in a bad spot balance wise in PvP, and it’s good that hunters themselves were buffed to compensate - hopefully these changes won’t affect their PvE performance too much while reining in their PvP dominance.

Eyes of the Beast’s chain casting shenanigans still need to be addressed. Hoping for a hotfix in the near future for this issue, too.

Now we can be the worst healer in the game AND the worst DPS. Awesome!

So you prefer to have your useless pet by your side so it doesn’t get 1 shot by Molten Core bosses over having Lone Wolf? Really sending out the wrong message, or maybe you didn’t play Classic and just have no clue.

Er, let’s dispense with the hyperbole. It’s not as if this update is going to dramatically change the balance of power. Priests will remain dominant healers, at least throughout the remainder of phase 1, and I’d be willing to bet all the gold I have that they’ll remain incredibly dominant in phase 2.

It’s surprising to me how many folks can’t understand what going on here. The way Beast Mastery rune interacts with pets is different depending on the pet/family. We saw this happen with scorpids and their poison early in the season.

According to WoW Classic Petopia there are 17 pet families and 13 unique pet abilities. When we consider each pet family has its own stat modifiers (health/armor/damage) and how these are affected by not only by runes (kill command/beast mastery), but by buffs as well it all seems like a massive mess!

IMHO as a hunter main, beast mastery is a garbage rune. It is based on % and throws some hunter pets out of balance sparking players to take FULL advantage of poor design. I like the rune in open world content and leveling, but I can understand why it’s bad in other forms of content. Hunters are no longer top parse in raids yet they still function well do to pet damage via this specific rune. As far as PvP, most everyone has seen the wind serpent 1v1’s which is why this specific change is rolling in. Bottom line, the rune doesn’t apply benefits to all hunter pets the same way and makes some too powerful.

I will also note a bit of frustration at the SoD team. While I understand they are aware of issues occurring in-game like this, their response time in fixing problems when they are known seems to be lacking. We’ve known about the wind serpents for a long time and just now they are getting nerfed? For those who play hunters it seems ridiculous that Blizzard made us God-mode only to take everything away. Figure out what works and what doesn’t so we as hunters can know what to expect. I would trade the power we had/have for a more consistent effort on the SoD team to keep hunters balanced and not in need of a nerf every week or so.

With one month left till P2 I would have like to seen buffs to underperforming specs and wait out to P2 launch. With new runes there could be competition for BM rune in that slot with creativity from the team and if further nerfs are still needed to the rune because its BiS then change it then if we are still too powerful. I personally don’t run a wind serpent, never will, and don’t do stupid things in pvp because its broken to gank people in that fashion, but that’s me.

We were not buffed at all, those runes are trash and no one will use them. Of course this will affect PVE performance! Like all the people crying over the serpent trashing you because you cant be smart enough to CC it you don’t play hunter, you have no freaking idea what the problem is.

There is NOTHING else than pet damage available, so even after the nerf people will still use the same runes because there is NOTHING else.

As for Eyes of the Beast, sure, I was not even aware people were doing this, I sure never did as hunter main. On the contrary, I love getting in the face of melee player thinking they got me and melee them to death.

I would be really surprised if they released the original 60 classic raids with no changes. By that time our characters will be so powerful because of runes and OP gear that the raids will be trivial.

I would not spend too much time thinking about level 60 right now. Just my personal opinion. Also I think the pets already take reduced aoe damage so you don’t have to worry about that.

Listen if there are weapons Hunter only that wildly changes the issue lol.

The issue is the already insanely rare weapons hunters needing 2 of, oh and the insane ranged weapon for "pvp "

Correct, they do take reduced AOE dam in SOD. This is why they dont die to Kelris without FAP and healing

Especially on Ally side there are Ret Paladins, Warriors, and both are hungry for powerful 2H Weapons. I’m not sure where melee hunter gear is supposed to fit in.

Spriests and dps Shamans are S+ in the non existent tier.

I know, right? But yeah, let s use limited dev resources to make hunters as bad as possible. Only alliance melee classes have the right to do damage.
