Thank you for the attention to enhance.
Lightning Breath were scaling too well and pets using physical abilities were scaling too little
Basically what they’re saying is: “we really want you to use Cat”
I think making aspect of the lion not an aspect is a mistake. It’s already a much better rune than cobra strikes and MM, but MM+hawk aspect was competitive in certain situations, especially when another Lion aspect user was nearby. This change will make the lion rune required at all times for all builds, which I think is silly. I kinda think it should be nerfed to remove the double self effect tbh, the way aspect of the pack works.
I think it would be cool if aspect of the lion replaced aspect of the pack as a normal ability learned at lvl 40, and instead what the chest rune did was turn any normal aspect into a party-wide pack aspect (cheetah, lion, monkey, hawk).
Also, I like what was done to the pet scaling, but it would be nice to see some other pet families get some attention with added abilities and make it easier to learn certain pet ability ranks. I don’t think there has ever been a big effort to balance classic pets across the board, and this might be a good time. Fixing howl bug, give raptors a dash, normalize (or unnormalize) attack speeds, make each rank of pet abilities reasonably obtainable, add unique family abilities to tamed spiders, crocolisks, raptors, bears, etc.
I think you’re just talking about BM hunters, as other specs have more abilities to use.
I’d be fine if the pet was able to be killed. But all you have to do is put it on someone and then they’re stuck dealing with it for the rest of the game while you go fight other people. That’s kinda lame. I get that they want pets to be able to tank, but there needs to be some distinction made between pve and pvp.
Maybe pet growl and extra hp/armor should be mutually exclusive with any offensive ability. Make growl good enough to hold aggro over an entire group so the damage is unnecessary. And then compensate the hunter in some other way for the lost damage. That way if you get a tank pet on you in pvp it won’t actually damage you, since you can’t kill it.
If you can read minds you should do something more with that power than post on wow forums
I agree , the only class that hasn’t been nerfed in over 15 years is paladins. I believe it is time to nerf this class .
Scorpid is overpowered in PvP, there is a justified need to nerf Scorpid so do it, BUT then also nuke the hell out of all pets health and armour, making their new tanking ability with a proper taunt from the rune entirely pointless because they die like an Era pet.
Bravo.
Because they’re overnerfed, genius. Explosive Shot was OP, so instead of BALANCING it they made it useless, and in the meantime also made Chimera useless for no reason. Then Scorpid was OP, so they turned around and not only nerfed the scorpid, they nerfed the surviability of all pets, making their solo tanking crap, which was the entire point of Beast Mastery giving a proper taunt growl and increased survivability.
Hunter in SoD plays basically identically to Era now. You spec for passives, active runes are useless, you play exactly the same. That’s what people are complaining about, No other class is functionally identical to Era and doing the same rotation they were in 2004. This is where Retail absolutely gets it right by balancing with special modifiers in PvP. Right now the solo Hunter who likes questing and doing outdoor content just had his tank slapped into the ground because of PvP crybabies, the god awful WoW tradition that retail is finally free from.
It was beyond stupid to ever release a level 25 cap phase for this realm, it’s entirely the kind of stupid decision made by rushing something unfinished out the door to inflate Q4 investor numbers. Classes are wildly different in capabilities at this level and everyone is missing vital talents that make or break their specs. Now turning around and balancing around that will only murder the quality of future phases, and Blizzard is Blizzard, terminally allergic to balancing upward, so buffs sure in the hell aren’t happening when the changes today come home to roost next phase. Everyone will slowly but surely be dragged downward, until we’re playing Era with 3 more buttons and the same experience.
Lightning Breath for Wind Serpents may not have a cooldown, but it costs 50 Focus to cast, so it isn’t used very often.
If I recall correctly, it is currently the offensive pet ability with the highest Focus cost of all.
Why are you changing the default stat inheritance and scaling of hunter pets? Now, if at some point hunters no longer use the runes for pet health and damage, their pets will be worse off than in classic era.
Pet armor values haven’t been significantly changed from classic, so why target that?
By all means, target the runes if they’re too good. If for example the Beast Mastery rune make the pet have too much health. Don’t go after the default stat scaling instead.
There was never any point ever where Hunter pets were the objectively correct choice to tank anything over any actual tank class. This is just pure bull
This is the only useful way of using a pet… Understand that a BM hunter is his pet, and it should be strong because it is basically just a stat stick. Every class has a way of getting the pet off them with CC. The pet has no useful abilities, it just runs at you and hits. A better solution if this use case is really a problem would be to shorten the leash range of the pet so that it can’t get too far away from the hunter and still attack (like syllabear in DotA). I think the pet despawns at 100 yards normally, but in battlegrounds and instances this might not happen. And if it does, I think it’s a cheap way of a hunter getting his pet back without it dying.
Pets also go under the radar a lot, and in PvP people tend to ignore them (allies and enemies), so they usually don’t get killed or healed.
No, how they have BM hunters tuned at 70 was great. It was focused on the pet, but you still had to play smart. You couldn’t send the pet into a group of 10 people, keep it there for a long time, and expect to still bring it back out when it starts to get low hp. It shouldn’t be near invincible. They shouldn’t be able to solo geared players. It doesn’t matter if it’s doing it with autoattacks and claw rather than flashy abilities. It shouldn’t be able to solo a player.
Once again, bad PvP players to blame for killing PvE balance, a story as old as time. If you were being solod by a non-Scorpid Hunter pet, you are the problem. This is why SCORPIDS needed a nerf, not the entire damn pet system making Beast Mastery a completely pointless rune, to join the ranks of Explosive Shot and Chimera Shot. Taking bets what is the next one to be nerfed to uselessness, maybe Lion after they decide the aspect stacking is too good?
You’re not even responding to the points I made. You’re just being a contrarian.
Kelris didn’t really need a nerf it’s just everyone is ignoring the Invading Nightmare mechanic… nerfed because of game design flaw
I agree buff him.
dude just wants us to be floor priests.
World buffs are not a fun mechanic. If you want characters that strong buff them. Please do as a matter of fact. If you absolutely refuse to do that next best thing is make them persist through death. If thats still not an option then the world buff should be a consumable item you get in your bag with 4 charges of 30 mins, it still gives you 2 hours total but is less punishing on a wipe but still is punishing if you keep popping it and chain wipe. Alternatively you could make it so chrono beacon only lets out 30 mins of all buffs inside it at a time. Ive always found world buffs one of the worse parts of Classic.
Thanks for adding more hit to shamans, more damage to every other class and not touching warriors at all. /s
Honestly why did shamans need 5% MORE MELEE HIT? Where’s the warrior additions??
yeah - you shouldnt be able to ignore the intended mechanics and just zerg him… you dont even need world buffs tbh
