Sean Connery (1930-2020)

Read the rest I’ll human, learn…

I wasn’t being sarcastic.

You were implying I had used big words, and I apologized for overwhelming you.

Did he? Or did he said he believed it was ok. Words supporting it is one thing, doing it is another.

Bond, James Bond! The original! RIP Sir Connery.

I have no interest about what your opinions are of my intentions. Nor do I care.

No, I’ve read your posts. You have like 12 of them. It wasn’t a difficult read.

I specifically read where you said it was absolutely horrible to hit women, and I agree with you there.

I just also read your post saying, “You aren’t perfect either,” and I’m pointing out that that sort of defense when it comes to someone who admitted that he thought it was okay to use physical violence against women is gaslighting the real issue. That should never be said to defend an abuser.

And we have no interest in yours, but that’s what you can’t seem to grasp

I don’t care. I don’t know what you have such a hard time grasping?

Question, when is a thought ever proof of action. Is there evidence that supports he ever acted on the belief.

You have a history of lying in this thread though. First you falsely quoted me, then you tried to suggest I advocated hitting women.

You are not to be trusted, Elf.

What?? He beat women, that’s kind of a low bar to pass???

The point is to evolve beyond the old ways. We all have moments where “Grandpa says something cringeworthy”. So yes the it was a different time argument does have relevance. You can not apply todays morals on a time in the past. You have to apply them “now”. Building the Pyramids and the Great Wall killed thousands of slaves, and at those times it was the “norm”. I certainly wouldn’t want it to be a “norm” now, but I’m not going to apply my morals to them “at the time” and we should be accurate with our accounting of it, not glossing over things to make people feel better.

Not up Sean Connery’s crack like the rest of you, I guess?

Unless they’re using their status to wield political influence, I don’t really care to listen to what actors/artists/musicians have to say about XYZ.

I’m not sure that someone going out of their way to ask you for your opinion is really “proselytizing”, but yeah that’s obviously a gross opinion to have.

“Diane Cilento, who was once married to the movie star, stated that he first beat her in Almeria, Spain after a day of filming The Hill . He waited for her in their hotel room and hit her repeatedly until she locked herself in the bathroom and he went to sleep without mentioning it to her.”

I’m sure you’ll have something to rebuttal this with as well.

Sometimes you need to leave things alone, plenty of my grandparents were homophobic and sometimes a bit racist. Every generation has it’s faults and quirks. As society progresses that changes. Sometimes you just gotta understand that. The man was 90 years old, it’s easy to see why he grew with those bias’s and prejudices. By age 20 it was the 1950s, the time period known for not being respectful to women. It’s his environment, and even then he eventually learned in 2006 that it was the wrong thing to do.

I didn’t say it was. lol

I feel for any woman that has to live with this guy.

That’s purposely obtuse, Dexter, if I’m being honest. And I’ve had a lot of respect for you in the past so I don’t want to go down a rabbit hole with you here.

If someone says they think murder is okay, it is safe to assume that they’ve either murdered someone or they’re okay with it happening.

If someone says they think neglect is okay, it is safe to assume that they’ve either neglected someone or they’re okay with it happening.

My issue with Connery is that he stated multiple times across multiple decades that he believes that it’s okay to slap women. It is a safe assumption that he has hit women, considering he finds it a morally upright thing to do.

Additionally, his first wife has said that he has hit her. There may not be a video recording of it happening, but I choose to believe victims.

Still waiting on the sean connery evidence that his thought ever moved from the realm of words to actual action.

In his interview with playboy he made jokes about it as well. As in it was something fun to do, maybe he wasn’t purposely going out of his way to convert people, but he definitely reinforced the ideas in people by putting his word out there.
