This shows that the rules are not complete and the intent was for actions off target were intended to drop CP but under alternative methods do not.
It only shows you things you can get by combat log filtering. Its pretty effective, but not 100% accurate like detect magic is.
Also it is authentic that abilities don’t drop your combo if you didn’t actually switch targets.
Combat log should not show us buffs on a target unless they are added while my character is in that location when they are added.
Rallying cry was applied before the battleground.
It’s picked up as an Aura I think, by combat log. I’d have to actually look at the api to be sure my memory is right. And im far too lazy for that.
That is a garbage API then, there should be no way to sidestep the information that is not possible to gain without a special buff.

Unless it’s Distract… and others I’ve seen say mouseover kicks/blinds dropped CPs in vanilla.
I’m not 100% sure with regard to kick. I never thought to try that. What are the odds you’d actually be in range to kick someone while also fighting someone else?
But I did play rogue in Vanilla, and I used blind like that often enough.
Exactly, and mouseover macro should not side step the rules.
PvE scenarios.
Mouseover macros for bombs/grenades also drop CP apparently but I haven’t tested that. Just seems inconsistent to me that Blind and Kick work without dropping CPs but Distract and bombs wouldn’t.
you would think they would have this stuff 100% hard coded so that certain actions always do X result, rather than Y result when a different UI style is used.
