Most likely, yes. This is why.
Always be skeptical of corporations committing performative progressivism. This investigation has been going on for the last couple years. Covering up female characters and sprinkling in LGBTQ characters here and there (without putting in the requisite narrative legwork to make them actual people) doesn’t add a whole lot of good stuff to the discourse, but they certainly think it makes them look good when they get to point to these things and say “the Blizzard of today is different! We’re nothing like what the accusations say we are!”
Don’t let them use that as a crutch. You don’t get to just pretend to be woke. You gotta walk the walk especially when it comes to your employees.
I would say the correlation of them no longer creating scantily clad options (along with the change to the /whistle emote) and getting woke very likely has something to do with their projection. If you’re not a scumbag, you don’t worry about looking like one. If someone gets upset at your underdressed character, there is something wrong with them (and it isn’t just women, aboriginal loincloth works on male characters too). MMOs almost universally have options like this. Usually more and less ambiguously sexualized! So the argument would be that they are all the result of such climates. Except many of the female characters I see dressed like this, are actually female in real life.
No. Equating that scantily clad digital model of an imaginary character in a cartoonish world, to actually abusing people is more than just a stretch… Unless that that objectification and disposability is how you actually perceive people in your real life.
Confession through projection is very common.

I have never seen a female WoW character with a bare chest. But I have seen male characters with a bare chest.
There is a double standard in part because women can be dressed in a ‘revealing’ manner in more ways than men can.
Did Blizzard create your toon or did you? If you did and you enjoy it. What bearing could it possibly have on anything else?
Jesus. No.
I am a female. And a POC. I like to make scantily clad girls because I’m too shy to run around with my booty hanging out irl.
The controversy is big enough as is with real problems (and for the record, I believe Blizzard is guilty and the accusations are believable). Don’t try to clog it up with meaningless drivel.
We fought for the right to not look like nuns, remember?

I like scantily clad characters sometimes because I like the look not because I want to be “attractive” to men, so I think the premise you are presenting of why scanty mogs exist is inherently wrong.

Hunter transmog is so bad that the only way to not look terrible is to take it all off.

When was the last time Blizzard had scantily clad characters? They even made sure Sylvanas had no midriff left to show.
I miss booty armor
Not Since Garrosh really. He even showed nipple on the game box.
Look, everyone knows those armors have magical magnets in them to draw projecttiles to them. I mean thats just science.
Outland has the red breastplate mog. Its a battle bra with upper chest covered up more. Its just its the classic low rez.
But beyond that…well like my VE hunter. Going no chest fixes the main issue with the heritage some have. Those wings…it be nice if we had a wingless version of the chest piece. Or put wings on as part of the shoulders. Make the shoulders invisible and we are golden.
Side note of there is want of equality here. Recent thread in fact of players wanting scantily clad males. The player want for Chippendale male chars is there. Blizzard needs to meet that.
THe market is there. Skyrim even has a mod for this. Its acronym is SOS. Google that cross referencing lovers labs. Some people like to enhance their males. I will just leave it at that.
I like dressing scantily…I can be pretty too right?
is there a correlation between people making scantily clad female characters and sexual harassment they inflict on others?
If it was only Blizzard, maybe, but it’s been a fantasy trope as long as large muscular men have been.
They could decouple the graphics.
WOT at least when I played it had decoupled graphics. If you wanted a pink pokka dot tank…well fire up photoshop and work those layers.
Other players would never see it. it was your overwrite. They’d see the leopard as is from the vendor.
But this allowd hit box and such. And in the past people have whined on graphics hacks that made nodes large as hell. Never saw that rant. I run add ons that track node hits. I will see the yellow circle of a saved hit from a run prior before I see the yellow dot inside it.
You chose to dress her that way, not Blizzard.
There are far more modest clothes than immodest ones in WoW.
Also compare this game to Terra lol.
