Why is this good? paladin should be melee, we already have 2 ranged holy healers in the game do we really need 3?

Crusader strike is a bad ability. They buffed shield of the righteous now though, which is a melee ability. I wasn’t against melee hpal. I was against nerfing our good abilities by 80% to bring back crusader strike which did no healing, and practically no damage.

If they are going to bring CS back it needs to he in a way that works with the current iteration of our kit and actually compliment it.

Not shoehorned in at the cost of everything else being terrible.

because cs was bad and they nuked half the kit to make space for it.

also shield of the righteous is the melee aspect of holy paladin. idk why we’re ignoring it

Because previously you should never be SOTR in any moment. as the WOG Damage Talent was both higher DPS and HPS. It was basically crusader strike 2.0.
With this buffs, who knows, sound good enough. After all a 100% increase is nothing to scoff at.

  1. I agree, it should be
  2. Crusader Strike as it existed was not the way. (Figuratively) No damage, (literally) no healing, and our main heals being made much, much worse in order to give it a reason to exist.

If we have the choice between how it is now, and how it would have been with CS, it’s better without CS. If they can put a lot of thought and a lot of work into creating a robust and synergistic melee healing system, more in line with what Mistweaver has, maybe we’ll be onto something. But that will be a project.

If I’m reading it right, it’s actually a double 100% buff, with the Shining Righteousness talent.

Why does CS need to have bad damage and how does it cause heals to be made worse?

Buff its damage and … it has nothing to do with healing tuning so idk what to even say about that.

Giving holy power means each use is a third of a word of glory. Buff word of glory and its healing is fine.

It doesn’t need to have bad damage, but it DID have bad damage. And heals were made worse because, as it was going to be implemented per the blue post, our most important holy power builders were both going to have their cooldowns doubled (halving their availability) to make up for the addition of CS, the use of which would help those cooldowns tick faster (back to baseline)

I don’t mind if holy paladin has the option to press CS or not, so long as I don’t ever have to be in melee because pressing CS and SoTR as a healer feels like butts to me, just as I don’t play Fistweaver when I’m playing Monk heals.
