So Q1 2023 release is what it’s looking like. Which puts Wrath classic in November as not very far fetched. Leaks are looking true, oh boy.
Based on prior releases this is “early” for them. They haven’t finalized most things yet. Hence it serves only to create hype and an expectations gap between what players expect and what will be delivered. This happens because we want out of what we know, and we don’t know enough about the new expansion to be disappointed or give feedback yet that could save blizz pain.
This will be the first expansion under Microsoft
If you’re truly forgiven blizzard with the improvements they gave in 9.2, in Shadowlands overall you’d pre order the epic edition the moment it hits the store imo
Excited for the news! Been needing a flicker of hope. Just a faint whisper of ‘soon but not yet’ is all I needed. 
Except it won’t, the acquisition won’t close until after this releases. More this will be the last ATVI expac.

This is the last time I give them the opportunity to prove to us that they can deliver something reasonably close to requested or expected. Things have looked very promising lately, but 10.0 will be the true litmus test. I want this to be amazing.
I look forward to it. I really want this next xpac to be awesome.

The deal/acquisition isn’t finalized until like Summer next year.

Based on what I saw in 6.2 my expectations are… well non-existent. They delivered a patch that was designed to drive metrics and it does that. But beyond that it’s very lackluster in my opinion. Given that I’m expecting yet another metrics driven design expansion. But I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps they can change.

Y’know how pleasing it would be if Blizz was like, "yo this is the expac and we want to be GREAT, so here’s the deal…
Suck it up. We’re not going to rush this, we’re not GOING to drop it til it’s ready, it’ll be in the works for a bit and we URGE YOU to go try some other games. let us fix this and bring you back the way you deserve!"
They probs won’t and we’ll be in 10.0 by like August but…w/e i’m still excited for news!

Sadly they have 11.0 in the works too. While Microsoft can and probably will change some bits about it, I think out of technically it is a ATVI product still. I only say that in case they don’t change anything. We can just blame the old guard or if the deal falls through
Definitely looking forward to learning about the next Warcraft expansion.

You’re not wrong lmao, but I’ve got one last expansion-attempt in me before I call this quits. I’d like to hold hope. I could just be crotchety all the time ig, but then i’d play MMO’s alone and cry about a lack of content all the time

At this point we have to see how much they double down on their anti-pattern driven development. They don’t need time gating or fill the bar quests. Yet they use them as if their lives (or jobs) depended on it.
I share your sentiment. I’m also suggesting the “we’ll release it when it’s ready” promises went out the window when they dropped SL.
