Sanlayn buffs 9/17

Most notable being an increase to proc chance of Vampiric Strike from 10% to 25%. Didn’t see a buff to Blood Beast procs but I assume if we are firing off more VS we should see more blood beasts too?

Good start, should see more blood beasts in general outside of Vamp Blood. Only other thing I would ask for is increase the timer on the buff and put in the DRW changes from the PTR in early

Will this make Sanlayn more preforable to take than ROTA?

Thanks for posting the entire thing, some other nice buffs in there too.

no idea dude

So I soloed 3 tier 8 delves today and didn’t see one blood beast.

Also, vampiric strike just plain is useless.

The damage is so pathetic. 20% of nothing is still nothing unless Terrance Howard is one of the devs.

Db is much better for blood.

Or can someone tell me what makes sanlayn plausible.

Oh, and the 2% heal that vampiric gives is AWFUL.

for most of us, that’s what 120k to 160k heal, while mobs hit for 2 million

San’layn as Unholy is still behind Riders in ST and it’s still awful for Blood. San’layn need a Dark Rangers rework

Speak for yourself.

It’s really just the haste that it’s got going for it. During lust I’m at 92%. So I only need 8% more haste to be at soft haste cap, so then I’ll be able to min/Max my Crit and Mastery more.

I went with Sanlayn for the simple fact, I cannot stand anymore Minions. Horsemen or Not.

Think about it folks, we are a Plate wearing, 2-Handed Weapon Melee… whose main damage comes from minions (and DOTS).

…Yet we have zero control over the minions.

But as we all know. I have yet to see a Blood Beast spawn… during combat. It is ridiculous. See what happens here…

Suffer Well.

Give us swarming Mist pls thanks

Sanlayn needs an active ability.

it’s specifically what makes deathbringer better than the other passive hero trees

They have to rework the tree. It would be cool to have an AOE blood drain or blood mist that actually pumps dps while we spam vampiric strike. Also wtb blood beast?

Vamp strike should debuff the target to our damage type by 30%

The blood beast is on a ppm system. So the server will designate a specific interval of time, and within that time it’ll designate I believe 2 server ticks to set a flag on your vampire strike to summon the blood beast, and then summoning the blood beast deactivates that flag again. So if the blood beast is summoned outside of Vampiric Blood, it’s not statistically likely that you’ll get a blood beast when you want it.

That being said, this raises an interesting math question. How much haste is needed, at a given runic power expenditure per time, to maximize the probability that you’d summon a blood beast within the first half of Vampiric Blood? It may be worthwhile to track how long it’s been since your last blood beast. (And the math would be different for Unholy)

Or… Blizzard could change it such that the blood beast is only summoned when Gift of the San’layn is active.

Since when did ppm turn from a % based proc to rppm?

The value lies in the buffs to shadow damage and giant blood beast explosions, but it is suboptimal.

I can see some value in more frequent burst windows with the change to DRW being the trigger for your windows over vamp blood, and I can say that the death strike damage steroids are noticeable.

The only problem is that DB is getting some incredible buffs soon as well, so san will likely be falling behind regardless.

It sounds like you’d rather play Fury Warrior. :person_shrugging:

Wonder if this will be enough of a nudge to push San’layn above Rider.

Might not be a bad idea. Only reason I’ve been a DK this long is because back in the day, if you were a Warrior and didn’t tank, good luck finding a group.

I have to rethink my life’s choices. Thank you.
