San’layn/vampyr Elf ALLIED RACE Coagulated Megathread of Ideas{Re-VAMPed} (Part 2)

Thankfully thats not actually happened once yet.

All of the added races, whether or not they share a skeleton use widely differing customizations and all have different racials, and cultures.

Which is how it would go with the San’layn. Again its odd to me to see you say that there are no other changes than skin tone when thats not actually true and this is a role playing game.

To each their own in the end but I don’t get your viewpoint.

Void elves are copy paste blood elves.

You know this. I know this. But you are trying to be snarky, making this a dishonest conversation.

A new race should bring something new than a recolor of what we already have.

truly is and that is sad. i hope the void elf mega thread " unleashing the void " gets a honest look by the devs.
there voidy customizations would excell the void elves into there own true race.
Sanlayn being a recolor now also sucks but if this thread is implimented… i think that would show its true standalone.
for the blood queen

While they do have some of the same skin tones and Blizz did use the same faces and eye colors (for some of the colors anyways) this is otherwise untrue.

Both races are quite different.

If you’re one of those who think you lost something over it you’re more dishonest.

I really never get you folk. They share a few skin tones and everyone gets the eyes and ya’ll scream copy paste and ignore the rest.

Ascension of the Ren’dorei. Thats my thread that I spent a great deal of time one.

Much like the San’layn threads original author did.

We are our own true race.

i wish there was more to it tho. the point he made stands due to the fact that its so similar and not unque
plus, why does it even have red eye options? so strange.

i lost something out of it.
true void experince.
I WANTED TENTICALS DANGIT

No. They arent.

Changing a skin tone is not “quite different”

You arent turning this around on me.

Stating void elves and blood elves are QUITE DIFFERENT is such a statement I can no longer entertain anything you say going forward.

I sincerely hope we never have a new race wasted on sanlayn.

A customization, sure. I have no issue with the miner adaptation of blood elves. I have no issue with giving blood elves a customization option.

But a full race and deprive us of something actually new and different? No.

Because everyone did nothing buy labor for void elves to be more like blood elves. It was a shame. We had an actual avenue for something different.

very true. its sad that people wanted it to just be high elves ( aka blefs ) for alliance.
they got something of what they wanted but even then… there not happy which is understandable tbh. i bumped that thread. its acension of the void not unleashing. pretty solid. highly recomend.

Cause they gave everyone the darkfallen options. They should have been their own race like this thread suggests, with other options like the ones in the main post and their own racials. They’re different and have no reason to be on either Blood Elves or Void Elves other than Blizzard being lazy.

Old Gods don’t we all. lol

We didn’t lose though. If you don’t want to use those options just don’t use em you know?

If thats all you see of em I guess, go for it.

Like I said I don’t agree and think its really weird that despite their differences thats not enough for some people who just claim copy paste when they’re not.

They are though… like… dude. Blizzard added some skin tones for high elf folk to be happy and expanded the eye colors for the elves too. That doesn’t delete everything else about em.

And I think you’re weird for that in a role playing game. Customizations alone don’t make these sorts of races work.

Thank you for bumping my thread.

Why not?

Why wont customizations make it work for roleplaying?

People have been making it work already.

didnt know it was yours but yeah dude its freaking rad. i hope it comes to pass cause its a banger of a customization thread.
love tenticals.

fully agreed.
i just find it strange that void elves can have both undead energy and void energy. the two dont seem to mix lore wise and i think its a issue with the blefs and velfs being so similar in code. one change effectiing the other.

true true true. if they focus on one aspect over the ther though, i feel like we wont ever get the tentacles we wanted

They’re making it work because there isn’t another option. It feels bad, looks bad and fails to actually make the different races and sub races feel like they’re anything at all.

Blizzard really should have done it right the first time. Either by just sticking with the Allied Race system for all of em rather than relegating some things to ARs and some to customizations or by implementing an actual subrace system.

But here we are. No ones happy.

So many people would be so happy with so little real effort on Blizzards part.

Seems to me that the Thinking parts of Death and Void don’t like one another but the powers themselves interact the same as any other groupings. Too much of one or the other can easily destabilize the other and cause problems. Too much of opposing powers can easily destabilize and even cause explosive results. Like Light and Void or Life and Death together. But properly understood and used all the main six powers can interact and even do so naturally according to more recent lore.

But yeah the movers and shakers of Death and Void don’t appear to be friendly to one another. Whispers want to kill all undead and the undead want to destroy the Void.

Its actually really interesting stuff.

I think their problem is that someone in Blizzard isn’t letting them put the effort and time into customizations or AR’s or what have you. They’re trying to do the least effort when this should be a major and ongoing focus.

So the Warcraft Direct happened, which I was lucky to be able to watch it live. While there were a lot of announcements, I wanted to focus on anything particularly San’layn related.

First is a road map of Retail WoW in 2025:

So it seems like late Summer 2025 is when we’ll see Midnight revealed with its features and such.

Speaking of, the special announcement mentioned was this:

Player housing seems to be a feature coming in Midnight. A very popular requested feature for WoW and a long time coming.

Now, I don’t know if this means we won’t really see any new playable races in that expansion or if all resources will go into focusing on player housing. I’m sure there is still a chance of seeing new playable races still, especially with Horde San’layn, be it as a full race or a Customization Race.

Whatever the case, I’ll keep an eye out and report as stuff gets officially announced. Until then, support for playable Horde San’layn marches onward! :man_vampire:

I really wish they went this route.

Feels like a waste of slots for what essentially are customization options with new Voices/Racials.

And I want customizable voices/racials too so it feels even more moot.

I was thinking that maybe those San’layn in BFA that appeared don’t actually die. Like in the questline in the ghostlands they just keep necroing themselves. Just that blizzard didn’t have time to flesh out the story. Otherwise that is extremely lame to just have them show up like that.

Also I think the anniversary event is foreshadowing about future story threads and which characters might be important in the future. Lorewalker Cho emphasizes “Blood Prince Valanar” and the story with Thassarian, as well as pointing out the story is unresolved.

One more thing I was going to mention, the female void elf emote /silly has a voiced joke line, she says something like “NO I do not drink blood…that’s a San’layn. Totally different emo-elf.” It seems to me that blizzard is laying the groundwork to set San’layn apart as its own race.

The San’layn that joined the Horde actually can be found with members still alive on the damaged ship where their master died. So we’ve got that as an option for Horde San’layn easily.

The ones that attacked Tranquillen at the end of SLs however appear to have been entirely routed. (also I think there was only one San’layn involved there.)

Personally I think people are reading into that way too much. It’s a celebration of important moments in time nothing more.

Sillies are never important to lore, story or future content. They’re just sillies.

Though when they do add proper San’layn I hope they have their own /silly that claps back at velves. :stuck_out_tongue:

Reminds me of this joke I made up in the previous SL megathread:

“-No, we don’t glow blue or purple while hearing voices in our heads. Those are Void Elves. The OTHER emo elf.”

I need to bring the jokes and flirts I typed over there and bring them to the main post. Maybe think of some new ones as well. :man_vampire:

It was one just Blood Prince, who likely went mad with power. While there is a dubious feeling towards the San’layn in general from the Horde, this shouldn’t reflect all San’layn
as being bad…mostly because they likely wouldn’t be able to use mirrors anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

Something I talked about before was how there would be various types of San’layn, much like the Forsaken: some who have control of themselves and want to reconnect with their kin and others who are driven mad by the vampyr curse and seek power or so.

There is a lot I need to research so I can make sure to have a clear understanding of official content on the San’layn, the vampyr curse, and so on. Lots of work to do and not enough time and energy in the day to do everything I need to…sigh…

Also going to try and get some special US Thanksgiving posts ready for here and other race request megathreads I frequent. RL has been hectic and busy lately, so hopefully I can find some time. :turkey:

This would be exactly what I’d like to see as a San’layn /silly. Yesss!

Definitely. I’d also like to get a better understanding of the apparent control San’layn have over those they turn or who are their subordinates. We see little glimpses with Drenden in bfa that his acolytes are subservient… But only vaguely and I’d love to learn more.

We need more Horde elves.

Alliance has two flavors of normal elf, and two flavors of space elf. Horde only has two kinds of normal elf and one kind of Troll that’s trying really hard to pass as an elf.

And it isn’t working.
