San’layn/vampyr Elf ALLIED RACE Coagulated Megathread of Ideas{Re-VAMPed} (Part 1)

Also, I kind of doubt they will race AND class lock Dark Rangers to one or two elves. They are already pulling that with Dracthyr. People would be more angry. AND this new ‘paladin’ gear Blood Elves are getting.

Greenfire for warlocks was for warlocks of every race.

Not to mention, they went out of their way to mention mages for rangers as well in the recent book or something.

I don’t think it’ll be a ‘elf hunter’ only thing. AR or customization for many classes seems more viable. If anything.

I just had a thought though probably not a good one but what the heck. You guys are here to clear my conscience and I consider you just more of the voices in my head so we’re family.

Is it at all possible for Calia to lead the San’layn? I do not want her leading the Forsaken, nor the San’layn for that matter, but she is obviously in the game for a reason, and I don’t think it’s to take a backseat. Does she have any connection to the San’layn outside of just being related to Arthas?

Lightforged San’layn anyone? :zap: :hammer: :bat:

I would just up and quit I think if that happened. That would tell me 100% that Blizz has lost it and will never get it back. Though a part of me has always liked a light or dark character that has the opposite trait in their class or whatnot. Evil bats that can burn you with holy light. Saintly priest that can make your flesh rot.

I need sleep. Please, someone, put me out of my misery and tell me WTF Calia is for besides torture. Hmm . . . she appears good but is torturing us. She’s evil! She’s the Lich Queen!

Need . . . sleep . . .

. . . sle . e . .e . .e . .p . . .

zzz . . .z .zz . . zzz . . .

You guys won’t guess what happened. I just had a nightmare that Calia was leading the San’layn. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Has anyone been making plans if we do get Darkfallen on Tuesday?

Since mine would be a Dark Ranger, I’ve been trying to plan a leveling route that would take her through all the quests involving Forsaken, DRs, or Sylvanas.

My main would def be a hunter, but I want a Darkfallen rogue too that will be Sanlayn and use Venthyr armor/weps/enchants.

I will level many vampires and wage war against the werewolves as gosh inttended.

As much as I really want to make plans, I also really don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch.

Assuming we get playable Darkfallen as their own race and if there is San’layn representation among them, my current plan is to make a male San’layn Shadow Priest. I might consider making one more character, but a lot really depends on how it would be handled and if I want to use any of the few precious character slots I have.

Unfortunately, it seems like we’ll have to wait longer to confirm whether we get playable Darkfallen or not. Until then, I’m trying to temper expectations, as hard as it has been from all the suspicious evidence we’ve seen. :wine_glass::bat:

Check it off, drink some tea, look out the window, give a relaxed sigh, then get to the next thing on my list.

Also this.

This is what people suspect and how we’d get vampyr, pretty much. People don’t think they’d become lightforged, though (gods I hope not), but they do suspect she’ll bring them in somehow. The “Darkfallen” which would be Dark Rangers & Vampyr, rather.

Yeah if they actually showed contrast like this, it would be cool. Final Fantasy 14 does this really well with “Sin Eaters”. They are really quite creepy but light-based. I liked how they did it.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be opposed to all of the ‘light’ stuff if it wasn’t focused on as pure ‘good’. An antihero light-based hero would be neat. My paladin, for example, is that way. She fights alongside monsters (my vampyr) to help Azeroth, knowing their methods are… a bit violent. Okay, more than a bit.

I’d entertain the notion of ‘lightforged’ undead of various aspects if indeed this contrast was explored. If there were still the ‘drawbacks’ of undeath with it. Here’s some ideas:

  1. Lightforged forsaken that could be good or evil, and not necessarily trying the ‘convert’ trope. But the light prevents rot–yet not their hunger. They would still be cannibalistic, meaning the creep factor would be upped to the n(th) degree due to them looking ‘human’. Normally being, what you’d expect, to NOT be cannibalistic and hunger for flesh. But because they’re still zombies, they would. And they’d perhaps emanate heat rather than cold.
  2. Same concept with vampires. In this case, we’d have daywalkers. Diurnal vampires. They still would hunger for blood, but could use their ‘light’ as a lure tactic to fight against either good or evil entities, depending on the character. They could still be instilled with those hunting instincts and the hunger for violence, but be empowered by the light, and thrive in the sun.

If such a duality was shown, I’d be very interested in it being explored. People expecting these ‘light’ creatures to be ‘pure and sacred, perfect and holy’, when in reality they are still monsters but with a brighter glow. And you’d have a harder time discerning them–because your diurnal humanoid species (so… most humanoids in WoW) would be fooled by their day-hunting. 'They are just like me!" factor. Whoops…

So yeah. If we could create eerie creatures of the light with these concepts, I’d be for it. It’s not been shown thus far, though, with Calia feeling like a Mary Sue.

Splatter her with blood. Then I’ll be more open minded. Show me that she’s a monster. For good, or for evil. Either way. Monster.

I don’t think we will be, but to entertain the notion, I would have sooooo many race changes (if Allied Race). If customization, I’d need to log into so many of my toons. I will post on each one of them here if it happens

I will need to look into the classes I have. Maybe mage, for blood mage… no wait, I have a San’layn mage, he’s awesome.

Uhhh… do I even have a class that I didn’t make a San’layn?

I… don’t think so… aside from Demon Hunter & paladin & druid & shaman…

Gods I am such a nerd.

I think it’s highly unlikely for an allied race to be made available on Tuesday.

Consider that no information related to the Tirisfal questline was mentioned in the patch notes, and we still have no announced release date or pre-orders for Dragonflight yet. If, and I stress IF, we do see Darkfallen as an allied race, I doubt it will be revealed before Dragonflight pre-orders open up.

Tuesday is probably going to be rather lackluster for most people. The main attractions will be the Blood Elf and Dark Iron questlines, and cross faction stuff. Probably people testing to see if the cross-faction guild bug makes it to live.

Someday, perhaps, we will get playable vampyr elves.

On that day, the crazy stalkers I’ve collected from these forums who are truly unhinged can go take a walk and leave me alone forever.

They probably won’t, as obsessive people don’t let things go. And it’s annoying.

But I’ll be enjoying my vampires while they sit there seething.

Final fantasy does a great job with making holy figures do evil things. Square Enix is good with that.

One of the best aeons having holy themed rosary.

Angelic beings destroying the universe.

Ultima an angelic being hard fight.

Zodiark is a cute little summon, the gods had to stop him from growing since he was like the most powerful summon. Most of the summons are like fallen gods in ff12 and I think that’s cool. They also represent the Zodiac. Although Final fantasy games tend to put alot of religious beings as enemies since it often involves world-ending threats or gods/godlike figures trying to destroy the world.

Blizzard has been leaning into all cosmic forces both having good and evil sides. They showed a bit of the evil with Yrel in the Maghar orc scenario her being basically the leader of a holy inquisition.

It’s hard to say what Blizzard would do with Calia, but I think they can write the character well if they have a good vision for her. I have enjoyed the Holy-Evil theme in final fantasy games. Where you fight against corrupt leaders/gods. Like Velen didn’t say much to Illidan about what he did when Xeera tried to force him into the Light. Some holy figures/believers like him and Anduin seem open to more then just what the Light thinks. Calia I think is open to more since she wants to establish a connection with her people. I see her trying to understand her people. If she succeeds and is well received depends on the story imo. People seemed to Sympathize with Dereck Proudmoore a bunch in BFA, the story let many people to be against Slyvanas for doing stuff like what she planned to do to Dereck for example.

That’d be fine, but I really, really want to see the monster theme with her if she does stay ‘lightforged’. Something fierce and vicious. Otherwise, in my eyes, she isn’t undead. The whole point of being a ‘zombie’ or ‘vampire’ is to be monstrous in some way. You don’t have to be evil, but to be a war machine when needed, as that’s the basis of undead.

The hunger and hunting instincts are meant to be an addiction. Brains & flesh with zombies in common lore, and blood with vampires. Both of those things are prominent in pretty much every myth involving them, regardless of how their lore is twisted.

If you muzzle them or take away their claws and teeth, they might as well be human. ‘animal blood’ drinkers (looking at your bad lore, Twilight), zombies that do not need to feast on flesh, vampires ‘cured’ of their bloodlust… they’re not vampires or zombies to me.

They’re just humanoids with another name pretending to be different. Again, no point in them even existing.

There’s some baseline things that should apply to every monster. Zombies & undead? Feeding/hunting on humanoids, the requirement, and the urge. They have to be monsters. Otherwise, again… what I said above.

lol well, we’ll see. I’m not convinced them not mentioning Tirisifal, Sylvanas/anduin, and Tyrande quests are a sign that they aren’t important.

They don’t do announcements for pre orders, they just make them available. They wouldn’t open them until 9.2.5 launches, so the lack of them currently doesn’t point to anything

The scary thing about the light is that they preserve a bit too well. Which is a thing I think can be played off of in a plot. They had a huge thing about stoping time and trapping orcs basically in time which is a different type of scary the light has access to. Perfect preservation, control freaks, able to basically erase you from time, etc.

I would like them to make a holy creature like the weeping angels from Doctor Who. I think holy can be scary. Especially if they go by the traditional description of stuff like bible beings. But it’s up to blizzard to play it right.

The splash screen is in the key marked Tirisfal Story Content though, so it may unlock right away. The suspected pre-order mount and pet are in another key.

Eek. What’s next? Cat-forged Worgen? :stuck_out_tongue:

Fox worgen:

-Cat software

Or Gnolls
-cat hardware (… … okay I know, they are not CATS like foxes are ‘dogs’ but they are closer to cats than dogs I believe… yep, confirmed via google. Not ‘cats’ but more closely related. BOOM)
-Dog software

It’s interesting if the Tirisfal story questline is in the splash screen. Still pretty suspicious. I guess the first thing for us to check when the patch launches is to see the splash screen that actually pops up upon logging in.

Oh and on another note:

For maximum effect, slow the playback speed in the video’s options to 0.25 speed. :wine_glass::bat:

That was funny lol. Fun game too.

As if being a drood isn’t confusing enough already! What happens if a Catforged Worgen bites a Vulpera though? Does it cancel out? Or divide by zero and unmake reality?

Huh. I’m a bit disappointed.

Come on, Bliz. Everyone likes looking cool!

…Also, why is there a splash of Saurfang on my launcher

I think the hyenas closest relative is the mongoose.
