Alright so knowing the information we have right now, here’s some of my ideas as to how we can get pretty much all of our ideas, which would be cool. In spirit of Blizzard saying they’re adding more customization to base races as well, that got me thinking.
- Someone mentioned earlier (forgive me, this thread has been so incredibly busy and I’ve been watching the D4 panel) that we could find the origin of the blood curse and get vampyr customization for Thalassian Elves and Night Elves. I think this idea is glorious. Initially I was really hesitant about a “Night Warrior” sort of thing, because the lore was just brushed over and tossed aside. But there’s an entire covenant dedicated to the vampire theme, so the chances of us getting curse origin lore is amazing.
- If this Nosferatu-like race is slated to be the AR itself, should Blizzard even be considering adding an Allied Race based on the theme and covenants, I think it’s be neat, but I’d also really hope for San’layn itself being playable. What I mean by this is what was said in (1). If our elves got monster customization such as red/black eyes, fangs, and claws, it’d be pretty cool as well. Also ripped or bat-like ears would be lovely. But so long as we get some good, juicy lore on our vampires, I wouldn’t mind.
- Man, wouldn’t it be great if we had some sort of item or mount with the customization and/or race that let you turn into those bat monsters, or a cloud of bats? Super cool.
I love the thematic that I saw and am looking forward to seeing them explain a bit more as well. I think I’m in the minority with wanting regal/fancy vampires though, as everyone wants them to look more Nosferatu-like (which is pretty meh to me, not gonna lie). I think a major reason why I wanted San’layn specifically, though, was I fell in love with their concept and race when it was intro’d in Wrath. So I hope we get to see those folks specifically as well.
Also, I’m wondering if vampire customization would be open for humans as well, since we saw them in Stormheim. Maybe a quest to include humans, Night Elf, and Blood Elf? Hmm… possibly Void Elf and Nightborne too. I can also see Kul’tirans getting vampire customization if they plan on expanding the blood curse and making it customization. I think many people would be fans of that.

That female bat lady looks really neat, I love how she looks. Is that art for things that have made it into the expansion itself? I’m a huge fan of these bat humanoids, not going to lie. I’d probably play one in a heartbeat, especially if they looked like that depiction. Really cool.

Those bat ladies are what I was referencing to Van Helsing about! If you watched Van Helsing, you’d see similarities between these bat ladies in Shadowlands, and the Vampires in Van Helsing! We’ve been heard, watched, and listened to! Our dreams have come true! Even though we have an entire zone dedicated to our cause, they are no longer called San’layn, but something different. I forgot what their race’s name is.
Yes, but again I still would want the original San’layn, Thalassian San’layn, as well, even if just via customization ^^ I don’t know if that’s asking too much, it’s just the original ones I saw are what I fell in love with, and being able to play my toons as them (as I’ve built them) would be really neat. Like I want to find out what they’ve been up to, what the deal with Dreven was and where he came from, how they were making more… etc etc.
