Both of you make pretty good points. I just would hate to have to recollect everything, since I’m also a collector. But, well… if they were to improve things like story and add in something like San’layn with rich lore, I could definitely get over it. Especially with graphic updates to things like drakes. Yes please.

Well, one week to go until Blizzcon starts. All I can do is hope for the best for some new playable race announcements.
On another note, Wowhead posted an article about Alliance leaders being put around the Stormwind embassy, which is interesting since they were removed from the inside before. I’m guessing the Horde will see a similar change while Aysa/Ji handle any allied races forthcoming.
Seems like everyone is either moping or all “Boy, World of Peacecraft sure is great!” while others proceed to pee in their cheerios.
At least I can enjoy the Fall weather while I wait for Blizzcon. It’s my favorite of the seasons, and Halloween is a fun time in general.

Yep, and I got my red-eye cosmetic contacts today! I’m sure no one would have guessed that this year… I’m going to be a vampire. Shocking, I know. Truly. 
I would be over the blood moon if we got any news of San’layn at Blizzcon. Could you imagine this thread? We’d all be going bonkers.

I’m still totally hoping the theme of the next expansion is death related. We’d have a pretty high chance of making it in if that’s the case, I hope. Not to mention, I LOVE that theme and would probably return to trying to raid for experiencing the story myself.

Considering virtually every leak that has come out since 8.2 has been effectively debunked, I’m not holding my breath with this one. We all thought that screenshot of the army of the dead invading the harbor of Stormwind for 8.3 was legit, but considering the way the story has evolved that image is unquestionably exposed as a fake now.
As far as this image is concerned, I would take it with huge grain of salt. Especially considering this comment that was left on the reddit post.

All the rumors of death being a theme of the next expansion and us getting closer to Blizzcon is making the wait that much more painful. I really hope we get something of note with some new playable races announced there, as I really could use some good news right about now. x- x

This topic is always one I find sort of interesting. I’m uncertain there are enough of the Sanlayn to really make a viable race, however there is something curious about how many flavors of dead elves were working for the Horde in BfA. We have the undead NEs; the Banshee Dark Rangers; and the remaining San’layn. Perhaps a compilation dead Elf AR?
Regardless, I think at least aesthetically I would find these dead elves more interesting if they relied on the Nightfallen rig for any potential PC race. Its always sort of bothered me that Elves just happened to be the race that remained pretty despite being a festering corpse.

Due to information from BfA, it can be gleaned that they can indeed spread the curse to others. Not only is this seen in the Stormheim quests with the human vampyr, but the ‘neophytes’ in BfA suggest that indeed, new San’layn have been/are being made. Not to mention, we have no idea where Dreven came from. He certainly wasn’t there in Wrath from what we saw, so could have been a completely new prince as well.
Also, weren’t you a gnome?
The major response I have to this is that we actually have no idea how many San’layn there are out in the world, as we were never given a real number. That means it’s pretty flexible. Also, there’s still no defined way they make another one yet. We know that Shandris was worried that he was making more blood princes/princesses like him, but that’s about it. Who knows how quickly one can train up a San’layn these days.
It’s indeed a viable concern, and one that might be used against us. However, it doesn’t make things entirely impossible at least, since they might have the ability (similar to Forsaken) to create another one in a very short period of time, unlike any of the living races.
Fair enough, though I personally wouldn’t like it all that much. I’m pretty sure people despise me for this, but I like pretty races. I do plan on making a Vulpera because it’s adorable, and I’d probably roll a Sethrak/Mantid/Arakkoa if they ever came to be just because I find them super cool. I also have a couple of lady goblins because I don’t find them ugly either (and their fangs are AWESOME).
As such, I personally wouldn’t mind if the San’layn were beautiful but deadly, so elves but with jagged fangs (possibly similar to goblins), long claws, black eyes, the works. Some blood stains too. Granted, having options to look decrepit and terrible would be neat too, and I’m all for that. I would be kinda disappointed if it was the only option though, if you catch my drift.
I know what I’m saying might be scorned by some folks, and that’s alright. It’s just a preference thing, personally.

Keep your fingers crossed folks. Hopefully we’ll get something iconic but unique in terms of Dark Rangers or San’layn in General.
We’ll see what happens at Blizzcon with all of these News Leaks about the Scourge Expansion of Shadowlands.

I have a serious problem with race changes. This warlock has been every single warlock race except dwarf, and troll.
He’s been horde twice, and alliance 3 times.
He started as human, then worgen, then undead, blood elf, undead again, worgen, void elf, then gnome, then goblin, then orc, then undead, then orc again, then back to gnome, and finally human again.
I probably missed a few in there, but yeah…
I’m actually thinking about asking blizz if they can disable race change services on my account because it’s honestly become a problem at this point
