Elaborate. What do you mean?
I was planning to leave a key. Someone typed timeable, so I stayed.
And no vote needed.
Abandon is a quasi-substitute for poor communication, By voting no, you could believe key is timeable.
And why does that mean habitual leavers shouldnt be punished?
Your punishment fetish is disturbing.
As is your ad hominem tendency.
You cannot answer the question, so you attack.
Why should habitual leavers not be punished? Tis a simple question.
Because it’s not against the rules nor should it be.
Blizzard bans griefers and they did it without the system in place in Season 1.
If its not against the rules, why is there a red !, and why did Blizzard hint at future punishments in future iterations?
Or a little of each, combined with easy gearing.
the red ! which is COSMETIC and Blizzard made that ABUNDANTLY clear.
What we have is a consequence.
If someone leaves 90% of keys, and groups agree, they’re a habitual leaver and not even marked.
If someone leaves 90% of keys, and like 50% of them don’t agree, they’re still a habitual leaver, but they do have a mark.
I think it happens 10x more in forums than it ever does in game. ![]()
Not that I have data. But the forums are always alarmed about stuff like this, while I almost never hear about it while gaming. And when I do hear about it? It’s usually a guild mate saying “I saw the other day in forums…” ![]()
It’s going to create a new griefing meta is about all there is to it.
Join groups, consistently play terrible, cause as many 5 minute abandons as possible. Go unmarked. Lmao.
This is only one of the concerns that have been raised.
Also, no amount of data available on players in your group guarantees a smooth run. You’re only a few adult beverages away from your 3K tank playing like a 300 tank in your +10. All you can do with vetting your teammates is increase the chances your teammate(s) will be capable of playing at a level commiserate with the key level. Sometimes things go sideways; sometimes enough of the group wants to continue on that any abandon vote will fail. But as soon as someone decides they no longer want to be there, it’s unlikely they’re going to be fully vested in continuing along with the same effort they exhibited up to that point.
The discussion isn’t that leavers are never a problem; while they are rarer than many portray, they were/are a problem to some degree. The discussion is that in most cases where someone wants to leave, the group denying their ability to leave without them facing punishment creates significant conflict that is likely to lead to an even worse situation. If one person being mentally checked out is going to cause repeated problems until the timer expires at which point they leave anyway, the better situation is for them to be able to leave 10 minutes and multiple repair bills for everyone earlier.
I’d like to think number of trolls in the game didn’t increase due to the system…
I’d like to think…
A great way to get people banned, is playing poorly cause people have a tendency to be verbally abusive towards people who do.
Don’t think it works that well in Warcraft cause Blizzard is more lax with rule enforcement.
Only those that leave groups habitually will face this punishment.
See I love it.
You got some saying its not a punishment, others saying it is.
Then you got people admitting that people will break CoC trying to avoid the punishment, which is disallowed on every game I know of.
You can’t report for gameplay sabotage in party.
Therefore all your griefing complaints are invalid.
And your trip to Customer Support didn’t yield any positive results either. Hall Monitor Meridyth has not received official support.
Yet.
Just because you cannot report for this specfic case use yet, does not mean that in further iterations we wont be able to.
And yet more ad hominems because your arguments keep being destroyed.
I love how throughout all of these threads, none of those against the system can deny what Blizzard said. They only attack me for pointing it out.
If you are leaving keys too often in this first iteration, we’re not going to penalize you on an account level.
A rational person can parse that sentence.
What people wish the rules are, doesn’t mean what the rules currently are.
Just like how Blizzard maintains that people can votekick for ANY REASON and abuse cannot occur.
And that may result in someone loading into the instance and people immediately exiting due to said kick.
It has nothing to do with wishing, but logic and reasoning. I am now going to make some statements, and I want you to quote them with True or False.
- Blizzard has become more aggressive in recent years in regards to CoC breaking behavior.
- Blizzard has altered the game in major ways to prevent player griefing.
- Blizzard has said they view this (habitual leavers) as a problem.
- Blizzard has said they wish to build a system for proper group disbandment
It’s a good enough system, but they forgot the second half that makes it work so well in FF14. Actual moderation of toxic behavior.
The rules MAY change, and change in a direction that you want, doesn’t mean the rules have changed.
Your punishment fetish is disturbing again.
I want a functional game where people are happy, you on the other hand, want to punish people because you get off to it.
