Rx 550 should be enough for non gaming right?

Title pretty much covers it, not for me, for somebody else family related, needs a video card for an at home job and needs dual monitor setup for it

No theres no iGPU because using a ryzen 5 1400

I do have an rx 580 laying around but I don’t think this old psu will handle it

Never bought a low end modern card so not honestly sure tbh

i mean, if it has the right amount of video outs…why not?

Is it just basic stuff? If so, the 550 would kind of be overkill for that kind of workload, so it should be fine.

The GT 1030 is cheaper, comes in fanless designs, and is lower power. I’d choose that(just not the garbage DDR4 version) over the RX 550 in this case, unless you already have the 550. The RX 550 does have better output port selection than the 1030 though.

or just buy this

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814930010&Description=rx%20570&cm_re=rx_570-_-14-930-010-_-Product

and keep the games for yourself!

guess im buying a new psu too then

this would be a good time to see how asrock’s GPUs are like too

it’s a killer deal.

if you were gonna buy those games anyway, the GPU is like $10

just log into steam on their computer and activate their games or something

not only that but it gives me a chance to see how asrock GPUs hold up

if I ever decide to retire this vega frontier, an Asrock Navi/Arcturus would be ideal

First batch of Asrock Radeons had lots of issues. They’ve since improved.

I would avoid the GT 1030 (all variants) because Nvidia gimped the NVENC (HW Video decode) support for it. Also I checked on Newegg and RX 550 seems to be cheaper.
