R/wow thread on the severe impact of the Midnight addon/WA changes for disabilities

What they should do is implement their own addons, block pvp addons that display too much info, and leave addons mostly untouched.

Its a massive mistake to block addons 21 years later and remove choice and customization like this.
Which is why you are seeing so much backlash.

This is exactly why addons should remain as is.

Blizz said they’re putting their own damage meter in the game. So even without details you’re still going to get flexed on.

Which would accomplish nothing for their goal and reason for doing this, its not happening, you’re not getting full combat addons back and good riddance.

I used them for 21 years, and i’m glad they’re gone

it affects everyone, its not a minority thing, raid design suffers for the addons

Thats not the reason.

Guys. People STILL HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THE PHASE SWITCH IN RESHANOR FIGHT.

This has nothing to do with fights being too hard and addons are needed. That dog is so not hunting, its still in the dang kennel.

uh, yes we are? they’re integrating cool down trackers, damage meters, and ability timers into their basic UI. do i think they’ll do a good job of it? absolutely not. but all those “crutches” are still going to be in the game

It has nothing to do with peoples use of them. Its the fact that they exist that affects raid design

Citation please?

Ah I see. So because you don’t like them, everyone else should lose their choice and the levels of customization that addons brought.

Got it. Great argument.
:+1:

It’s hilarious how absolutely blind they are to addons and the game in general.

and under the control of blizzard, which is the point

how is that the point

I’m glad they’re gone because of their negative impact on raid design, i have no issues with the addons in a vacuum.

Then explain Reshanor.

You cant get simplier than that. “Go into this little area, press your extra button”.

If this were REALLY the case, they could have broken ONLY WEAK AURAS AND DBM. Instead, they have broken parts of NON COMBAT ADDONS like ElvUI and BetterBlizzardFrames.

They want to be able to design encounters in their way, without having to think of if something is going to be trivialized by weakauras

Which comes to the point of the DBM authors video on releasing restrictions on things your character produces, health, mana, buffs, procs, etc while keeping restrictions on things the encounter produces like debuffs

it’s going to be a growing process

it was hilarious, but now it’s getting sad and im kind of worried about what will happen when these things go live and all of a sudden the anti addon players (nermans not talking about you here) are in the exact same place they were before this. not looking forward to that blowup

the goal is to for people to be in the exact same place they were before, so if that person ends up like that… that’s what blizzard wants lol

The people that ‘complained’ about ‘needing’ addons for combat without needing them for accessibility are STILL going to complain about the fights. They will ALWAYS be too ‘difficult’.

People cant even tell the difference between a SOAK and a SPREAD as it stands right now.

They are literally two different effects happening, and people cant tell the difference, even when the same mechanic happens multiple times.

Removing addons is not going to stop people from being idiots who still need third party tools. They will just move on to other tools, overlays, other addons that Blizzard will need to break.

You haven’t raided in 2 xpacs.

How do you know this?
Did your favorite streamer give you a company line to copy/paste?

You don’t need any addons period to do the current raids.
The mechanics are hilariously easy to do. There are plenty of in game visuals and queues.

This is a scapegoat argument of “raid design” when in reality, you just flat don’t understand how any of these things work.

You fell for that?
