This whole “Race to world first” is silly anyway. I’ve never understood why they care, or why anyone cares so much who is the first to kill which raid boss. It’s not any form of healthy competition or sportsmanship.

It’s a community run event not a Blizzard hosted tournament.

It’s like, it’s a 100% community-sponsored/community-supported “event” and Blizzard doesn’t really have anything to do with it other than hotfixing any broken mechanics/bugs revealed during boss progress
If these 1%er guilds like Echo/Liquid/Method didn’t hype the crap out of RWF and mass-promote it in the WoW section of twitch I doubt the average player would even care

Yet most of the characters are Dwarves, because Stoneform is overpowered as hell.

Even better, it’s a race to see who can kill a boss after it’s been been modified during the “race.”
Imagine entering a 1000-yard dash only for the finish line to be extended or shortened at any point during the race and whenever the race operator deems fit

You mean if they didnt promote and advertise an event, most people wouldnt know about it? Is almost like the point of promoting something is for people to find out about it.
Wowhead front-page has also been heavily promoting it, and they don’t really have a horse in the race
Same thing for the /wow reddit front-page (has a “stickied” megathread dedicated to it at the top)
Wowhead does all sorts of strange/shady things. You think they’d link to Taliesen/Evitel’s videos all the time if they didn’t pay wowhead to do it?

Communities can and do create their own rules. They don’t need Blizzard holding their hand.
I sometimes wonder if there’s a deal to write vague quest text in order to send traffic to Wowhead.

RWF predates JustinTV by nearly a decade. in the majority of its life it wasn’t streamed.
So if a guild kills it first off stream it doesn’t count lol?
Also wow had a built in quest helper feature…

Liquid not looking too good, the pulls are inconsistent all over the place - and you need consistency to actually make it to the later stages of the fight
The point of competitions is to win.
I mean it sucks from a viewer’s perspective, but there is some understanding that they’re going to go dark a few times, particularly at the end of the race. If you are making really good progress that is covering new ground at the end of your raid day it doesn’t make a lot of sense to keep streaming and give that info up when you know you aren’t killing the boss and your competition is coming online soon.
Its the norm in any race. Cyclists literally sleep in pressure chambers to stimulate blood generation. Literally all elite athletes are doping and working out more in a month that you have in a lifetime. Its a competitive event, people compete. You’re just mediocre and have convinced yourself elite performance is “degenerate” because it makes you feel like your poor performance is some kind of virtue.

If it’s run as a private business, and supported by Blizzard, supposedly because it gives publicity to WoW, and it stops promotion, then Blizzard shouldn’t be doing anything to facilitate it, which includes designing the raid around the RTWF to the detriment of the majority of players who raid. These players will suffer through untested late changes in an effort to undo the design that was intended for WF. Sepulcher was a disaster for the raiding scene. Can the game stand a raid like that every expansion?

I dont see how watching RWF is enjoyable, and IM someone that loves watching Esports… RWF is just not a good watching experience… just guilds slamming their head against a wall for 8+hours and if one person messes up they just wipe and reset…
How anyone enjoys watching this is beyond me.
Yeah, but now the sponsors don’t get exposure.
